Forgive me for saying this
twice in one month, but yeah this is the logical result of identity politics. You start with a sensible kernel that we should consider people’s actual lives (“lived experiences”) in politics, then that those lived experiences must form the foundation of our politics (a la Black Lives Matter), to finally that only those belonging to a certain identity group can make pronouncements in this area. Then you get the most insane policies (like direct, personal reparations for black people) that entirely miss whatever the material problem was, can never hope to command widespread support, and are ultimately just a signal how “progressive” someone is, and anyone who disagrees is a bigot (a white supremacist, a transphobe, a plain old fascist).
Identitarianism is the symptom and cause of terminal brain rot. I am as MATI as a Maoi wearing a top hat because it’s always people who claim to be “leftists” who fall into this muck, frequently pronouns-and-hammer-and-sickle in bio sorts, who give left wing materialists (who thought we sorted all this out in the mid-1800s with the idealists and the individualists) a bad name.
TLDR; reeeee I’m special and everyone else is wrong
