It's a modern education trait, and it's embedded deeply.
At its root, this is about the eternal debate between essentialism and constructivism. It is also about bell curve distributions and the middle of the curve where the stereotype-generating majority, i.e. the NORMAL, exists.
This debate will likely never end, because people are somewhat often at one of the extreme of the bell curves in some aspects. For example, you can have a highly productive male programmer with atypical gender ID and inner feelings - but those feelings are just one aspect of their person/identity, and the rest is highly stereotypical and normal. Or you can have very normal, typical female that fits right in within society and her sex, but is atypically a drug user.
When such cases occur, they will tend to normalize the extremities of the bell curve out of fear that their own atypical flaws and behaviors won't be accepted.
The deconstruction that occurs "what is masculine"/"OMG men used to wear pink and high heels lol" is also a manifestation of a desire to tear down some limiting social norms that typically result in the exclusion of the atypical person that manifests them. It's largely a self-defense mechanism to normalize the formerly considered abnormal.

So here's the thing, surely there's MANY such cases of people giving up or people slacking behind on the dilation scedule, but that makes me wonder, isn't that shit a literal ticking bomb?

The only other surgery that requires the surgeon to "dig a hole" is pilonidal surgery where they carve out a huge chunk out of your back to get rid of a cyst and in order to prevent new ones from forming, they just leave it open and let it close from the inside out, so for a few months you have a huge gap in your back that needs to be regularily diligently cleaned and packed by a doctor or a nurse to make sure it closes properly without forming air bubbles/cysts as it starts to heal again, my last comment since its relevant again:

When you have open pilonidal cyst surgery, you're supposed to spend months packing and cleaning the wound to ensure it closes properly and doesn't develop into a new cyst, it takes meticulous care and you need a nurse of a doctor to carefuly clean it and pack it every week (sometimes twice a week) to make sure it all fuses as it should with no problems from the inside out and this is for a surgery not even remotely as invasives or deep as srs.

Troons going "fuck it" and letting the wound close on their own as if it will magically fix itself is guarenteed to cause long term problems far more nightmarish than the regular dilation because it it is 100% guarenteed to develop into multiple cysts and innevitably result in sepsis.

Then again, when the extent of your medical knowledge is "If I cut my penis off it'll transform into a biological vagina" it makes sense that they think it will heal with no problem if left alone.

There problem here is two fold though:

1.) Even if they don't stop dilating, ramming a dildo in the wound isn't even remotely enough to ward off new cyst formation. The aftercare for pilonidal surgery is packing shitloads of gauze into the wound to make sure every single crevice is filled and I don't think I made this clear in my original comment, but it STAYS filled until the next swap. You need to have packing in your back nonstop for several months and you only stop packing when its 100% healed.

I can't imagine a scenario where cysts don't end up naturally forming over time just by dilation because there's still crevices it can heal over that a dildo can't reach and even if it could it would need to stay in there nonstop for months instead of an hour a day.

(In fact I remember a video with a TIM by exulansic where he admits he doesn't want the stinkditch anymore but can't stop dilating because if he does he'll die of sepsis due to this)

Also, to ensure properly you're not even supposed to move much less have sex with the fucking surgical site.

2.) That shit isn't treatable anymore. In regular cyst removal surgery the surgeon removes the cyst and a fistful of flesh around it just in case. In this case well... there's nothing fucking left to remove. If they try to take even more flesh out to treat the cysts they created by taking flesh out they're gonna strike either vital organs or the abdominal cavity.

Man, I really wanna see what's gonna happen 20-30 years from now when the fallout from these surgeries becomes crystal clear. Is it even possible to come up with a treatment for this when the surgical site was a disaster from day 1 and only further made worse with dilation and regular activity?

Insert the word "stereotypically" if it makes you feel better. Everyone knows what masculine and feminine traits, hobbies, and interests are. Back in the day, the girls would take home ec and the boys would take shop. The stuff taught in those classes corresponds to "feminine" and "masculine." Again pop "stereotypically" in if you can't stand the discomfort of acknowledging that since our hunter/gatherer days humans have bifurcated into male and female social groups and activities as a normative (average) thing.

"But what about how there are famous man chefs and girls who build engines!" See NORMATIVE means average. Not 100%. But "more common than not." There are always exceptions to the norm.

And yes, since midcentury especially, girls have received somewhat more latitude about behaving in a non-stereotypical fashion than boys have.

One problem is that being outside the stereotype is now seen as irrefutable proof that a person must be trans, even if they don't know it yet. Not long ago, it was fine, even if a little outside the norm, for a girl to prefer shop and a boy to enjoy home ec but now the gender brigade will harass you if you don't conform.

I look 100% like a very feminine woman and am happy as a woman, but because I like sex with other women and have stereotypically male interests and career rather than female ones, I have people telling me I should consider transitioning. Even my therapist brought it up with an excited sparkle in her eye as if it's the fix for everything in life. WTF? Being a tomboy was fine only a few years ago, now it's "problematic".

Some of this has to be an extreme social pendulum swing in reaction to a few generations of girls being raised with the motto of anything boys can do girls can do better and boys being told it's ok to not be an alpha male. A majority of girls didn't actually want to do most of the boy things aside from having equal employment and educational opportunities, just like most boys didn't actually want to be a "seamster" (lol) or stuck with housework and making dinner when they got home.

The only two reasons to get SRS are aethsetics and sexual pleasure and it not only does neither but actively destroys both.

I would not be surprised if a significant percentage of them develop an opiate dependancy after their repeated surgeries.

Considering some evidence suggests that a huge percentage of men who get opiates for a routine vasectomy are still taking them after 6 months, I assume this is right. In my mind, self-sustaining is the complete opposite of depending on drugs (hormones) for the rest of one's life or needing medical maintenance indefinitely. If that's the life you wanted honey you done fucked up.
