So I decided to watch some excerpts from the Joe Rogan Podcast interview with Moxie Marlinspike that was brought up in this thread, and he's clearly someone suffering from cognitive dissonance, as a lot of these far-left anarchist types do. On the one hand he concedes that,
"those spaces [there social unacceptable ideas were allowed to develop] don't exist on the internet today", and suggests this lack of freespaces online is a bad thing that has stifled innovation:
But when we here on KF use our freespace to compare notes and think things through, and our conclusion is something like,
"hey, it's starting to look like all this troon shit is actually bullshit and harmful to others", we have to be censored because we didn't reach the conclusion that our overlords wanted us to reach.
But in this other segment from the same interview , he says that he had high hopes for people using the internet to inform one another, but it turns out, people only use the internet to spread anti-vaxx and flat-earth theories, whereas in his time there were all these zines and thriving subcultures around them - which is bullshit, because, to give you a personal example, the first time I myself ever read an "AIDS conspiracy article" (this was an article that linked to all kinds of actually published scientific research but in a way that aimed to prove the idea that AIDS was supposedly deliberately manufactured/engineered) in my life was in a
Flipside zine issue in the early 1990s, so I know his claim that zines were supposedly more intellectual, discerning or conscientous back then is total bullshit:
This part of all parts IMO perfectly illustrates why I don't want this snowflake touching any aspect of Twatter at all: he claims that people who have grown a thick skin and a duck's back due to being relently attack and criticized online can't be anything other than emotionless psychopaths:
So if you don't care what random people on the internet have to say about you - because some stranger's opinion of you really doesn't fucking matter, and it's actually adulting to live your life that way - it only because you're a psycho.
No, I don't want this guy encrypting Twatter DMs. I don't want this guy returning to Twatter. There has to be some other encryption expert out there who can do whatever he does.
This guy has an agenda, and it's a far-left agenda, it's what got us into this shit in the first place.
