I think it's mostly due to the fact that she isn't a complete waste of space, unlike Jack: she is obese and unhealthy, but not to the point of needing help from others to do basic things. She's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but still has enough brainpower to, even with that millstone of a husband around her neck, almost single-handedly support a middle-class family as an accountant for well over a decade. And, yes, they're both trashy, but Tammy at least keeps most of it out of the public eye.
In short, she's not a completely hopeless case and, as much as we like to mock and laugh at people, I think very few Kiwis would actually have a problem with most (non-violent/sex pest/rapist/pedo/etc) lolcows having some redemption arc.

I like the ones that give you the option of "phall isn't spicy enough make it more spicy" too (even if it is not strictly speaking an authentic Indian dish so much as a "challenge" dish invented by British pajeets), even though I usually no longer take that and go for the merely slightly amped up vindaloo instead.
Also my current favorite Thai restaurant actually has a "Thai hot" option but it's actually exactly perfect for my tastes, not insane, but definitely a bit of a sweat. It's absolutely perfect for pad kee mao (basil noodles).
My tip is always get the second hottest option even if you are a spicehound because the top option may be a joke on Westerners. And if even the hottest option isn't enough, most places will gladly give you extra on the side (if you imply their hottest is not hot enough they may be offended and play a prank on you and then you will have to grit your teeth and muscle through it just not to lose face).

There's a month to go before Christmas. I get it maybe starting a week or two before if you're pushing it but a month early is just... crazy. Unless you're like Target or Walgreens or something because they're already decked out with Christmas stuff and playing Christmas music in their stores. But that's a marketing thing.
