It's always kind of odd when you look at really old videos from fandom stuff. Like, a decade plus. It's kind of okay looking, the artist is still developing, they've clearly got some talent but they really just need to keep working at it. And then you check on their current stuff and somehow it actually looks worse than when they started.
It seems to be a consistent pattern. I kind of wonder if they view it as a shortcut, either to 'skill', 'good' results, or at least just attention.
This was sort of obvious in the mid 2010's-ish (my timeline might be off) when a lot of notoriously shitty artists started becoming 'good' through the use of using a lot of digital software and tricks.
