There are two sides to the coin of performative wokeness - you have the Dylan Mulvaneys who act unbearably happy all the time and you have the Kayden Colemans who act unbearably angry all the time. The Dylans want the world to know just how great "being your true self" is by layering on the sickly sweetness while the Kaydens want the world to know how shitty everyone else is for not catering to their "true selves." I agree with most of what you said, but Dylan did have some slip-ups that somewhat damage his “wholesome tranny” image; like the tampon exploration video, “normalizing the bulge” song, and when he sent his TikTok demon horde to dox and harass a female YouTuber who made parody videos of him. None of those things were great optics for Dylan.

CAA itself is part of a huge network of interconnected companies, and a lot of his sponsorships are from companies within that group.

I know I'm a month late to the party, but thank you so much for confirming just what I thought. The NowThis "presidential forum" was just a poorly disguised Biden informercial filmed and cast with their in-house talent. The only reason Dylan participated is because he was the closest token tranny on hand. It also works out well that the has an acting background because he knew how to properly read and recite scripted dialogue.

The main thing I know about CAA is that they were heavily involved in creating the Time's Up organization that tried to steer the #MeToo campaign into a nonprofit that could rake in money while keeping the status quo going. Time's Up was up to its eyeballs in creating a crisis management plan for Andrew Cuomo when his allegations of sexual assault came out, and the leaders were forced to resign. CAA was criticized for taking over #MeToo when they were complicit in Weinstein's coverups for years, so they were using Time's Up to whitewash their own involvement.
CAA knows how to astroturf things by marshaling their list of celebs into speaking out about causes that are considered "safe" to do so without risking their brand. They give them their approved talking points before doing any press, and if they stick to the script, they get buy-in from companies they need to make money from endorsements. Dylan's rise fits the template exactly. He is literally a studio plant.

I bet you dollars to girldicks, the original script had Dylan ask Biden if he thinks lawmakers should block children from receiving the ever elusive "life saving transgender healthcare," to which Biden was supposed to wax poetic how "trans kids deserve gender affirmation." Perhaps, at the last second, Biden's handlers decided this would be pushing the boundaries too far for the moderate voters and requested for producers of the forum/infomercial to rewrite the dialogue and bury the "trans kids" lead under a barrage of ten dollar words (Dylan seems to be particularly in love with the word "privilege") and double speak. Something just feels very off about Dylan's segment, especially compared to the other interviews in the full video, which are all obviously scripted and rehearsed, but at least cohesive.
Not related to Dylan's portion, but I also LOL'd pretty hard at the moderator, Alejandro Alba, a preppy twink who doesn't speak a lick of Spanish, but feigns a cartoonish Mexi-Rican accent long enough to smugly over-pronounce his Hispanic sounding name. at the beginning of the full video.

I have seen the Book of Mormon on Broadway since writing the post you replied to, and I can assure you that it is absolutely fantastic and not an absolute woke circlejerk. A running gag is that all of the villagers have aids and that a dude has maggots eating his scrotum. I haven't seen the original but the changes that the NYT article mentions don't seem to be as impactful as implied. I cannot recommend it enough.

No they kept both changes mentioned in the NYT article, but it didn't really matter. The black female who's name I can't remember lead once unsuccessfully uses an iPad instead of a typewriter to send texts to change the joke from her lack of knowledge of technology and social media to how you get no service in Uganda, but they make a joke about how she made a major Facebook faux paus.
The NYT article says that she now scares the warlord away in the climax, but she did it with Elder Price (or Cunningham) and they did most of the work while she did the final blow. In retrospect I actually do like this change because it brings some character development to the her. She's been told by her father to stay hidden so her clit doesn't get snipped and I like that she builds enough of her confidence and "spirituality" over the play to challenge the adversary.
