UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Londonistan is not Britain. I would really prefer if they would seperate from the rest of us and become a city-state. Unfortunately I will say the same of Scotland under the S"N"P, their policy of importing gorillions of "New Scots" is absolutely mental.

The only people who can't be Scottish are the English, apparently.

I'm going to say I told you so once more. Still can't believe you posted a few weeks back that there's been no real demographic change in the last ten years. Have you actually been outside during that time? Are you an ex-pat or something?

Surely he must be. Nobody who lives here could be so blind as not to notice the severe demographic shift the country has been subjected to. Even smaller rural areas are overrun with Pakis and various other Wogs.

No.

I live in the dark blue bit on this map.

Lucky you, some of us arent fortunate enough to have been somewhat insulated from the encroaching caliphate of Britanistan. The population of England is approximately 56 Million. London alone has a population of around nine million, with two thirds of them allegedly being Wogs you're looking at a pretty sizeable demographic shift even if that were all the pakis in the country (It is not).

Unfortunately Londonistan dictates policy for the rest of us, and that policy includes provisions to continue this demographic shift, so enjoy living in a majority-white area while it lasts. (Though if you ever visit a major city this should already have been clear).

Also the Welsh aren't white.

First they came for Norf FC, and I did not speak out because I was not Norf FC.
Then they came for the Midlands middle class, and I did not speak out because lol fuck those racists.

Finally they came for the white flight insulated liberals in the outskirts and everyone took some small solace that at least now their stupid fucking opinions are finally being shoved into their face for how wrong they are.

Looking at the figures, the black Caribbean population looked to have increased the least, probably because the men go for the white meat (the chavvy ones especially).

This woman has irritated me. What was she expecting when she dresses in a way that advertises her African heritage? Lady eighty-something may not know the right wording but she was only expressing an interest, as is the polite thing to do.
Lol, she learned that the best thing to do around blacks is avoid them if you can, and never relax if you can't.

It can vary depending on the area. If he lived in the midlands outside of the cities or some of the less migrant filled cities like york or liverpool you could come away not realising it. Most of it has been concentrated in the mega hives like London and Birmingham.

labour wants to ban vpns
Lol. Can't wait to see all the techie coping on reddit.

E: Actually, what the fuck does that even mean? I know plenty of workers who have to VPN in to remote servers.
They've seemingly made no distinction on the matter. Same level of stupid as banning encryption.
