So the husband earns $16/hr and she earns $14/hr. $16*8 hr/day*5 days/wk + $14*8 hr/day*3 days/wk= $976/wk, $3904/mo, or $46,848/yr. Subtracting taxes (from the post history, she lives in Missoula, Montana), they take home $39,489. Rent of $1000/mo means they have $27,489 left over. $27.5k/yr buys a lot of food and other necessities, especially in a low cost of living area. Since when is that a poverty income for a family of three?

Also, why do you need daycare if your husband doesn't work the same hours as you? Why are you going to college if you don't expect to earn significantly more in a few years? Having a modest lifestyle when you're in school isn't a big deal. Most people don't live large while they're students. Why doesn't your husband work more than 40 hours a week if you're so tight on money and you can't work full time because of school?
This is all relying on the assumption that this story isn't made up by a trust-fund communist basement dweller like most similar stories on reddit are.
