On a whim over on the other site I went into a bit of a deep dive on dinosaur themed vtubers and now that this site seems more or less stable, I figured I could share my findings with you guys as well. I'll separate this into two posts and spoiler for length. This first post will deal with vtubers that are still active for those of you who want to do some 2 view saving:

Spoiler: Week 1

Since I've wondered this myself and by sheer coincidence dinosaurs have been coming up on streams and in the thread lately. I've decided to go down another rabbit hole and see if there are any decent dinosaur vtubers. Here's what I've been able to check out so far:

Moryu Gao

She's an artist who drew and rigged her own model. Her baby voice takes a bit of getting used to but she is very comfy from what I've seen so far. She reminds me a lot of Ina with her drawing streams and calm demeanor. Also her "gaomochi" give takodachi some sreious competition for cutest vtuber mascot.


Tara Raizu

Another artist that not only made and rigged her own model but is a vtuber momma for other small indies (between these two, Juniper, and Yuni I'm noticing a pattern with vtubers being into dinosaurs and making their own models). She seems like fun, her voice reminds me a lot of Rye.


Lopho Lee

This one I actually knew about beforehand, as he is friends with someone I already watch. While the other two use the dinosaur aesthetic, they don't really seem to do anything dinosaur related. Lopho seems to exclusively make videos relating to dinosaurs and other prehistoric life, even playing a lot of obscure dinosaur games that I remember fondly from my childhood. I never really got into him, though, as I find his voice grating and his model is pretty atrocious.

DINOvember Part 2

Kennasaur

Her model is way too overdesigned but still very cute and fairly expressive, and you really don't notice all the extra bits and bobs when she is streaming from the bust up. I especially like the eyes with their dinosaur footprint pupils and the little dinosaur in her pocket. She also has the most customizable model I have ever seen with the amount of accessories she has including; two hats, a hood, sunglasses which can be worn both on her forehead and over her eyes, a drumstick, an ice cream cone, multpile hairstyles and probably a bunch of other stuff I can't remember right now, and that's without mentioning her two or three additional models. As for her herself she is pretty soft spoken, almost too much so, which makes her pleasant to listen to, though I tend to watch streams as white noise while I do other things so its not especially suited for me. I also can't speak much about her content as she seems to mostly be a LoL streamer which is not to my specific taste.

Saurawr

This one is a special case as she is technically still predebut and streams as a png while raising money to commission a model. She doesn't talk much and waits for someone to enter her chat before she starts speaking beyond mumbling to herself in Polish, though, because her chat is so small and seems to be made of people who know her in some capacity she is fairly engaged once chat picks up and I find her voice very nice to listen to. Despite all this, I like her because she really seems to be dedicated to helping out other small indies while promoting herself as an animator and graphic artist, rather than giving into the crab bucket mentality that plagues most predebuts and never debuts. She has a website where people can commission her for overlays, intro animations, schedule graphics, thumbnails etc. https://saurawr.uwu.ai/#commissions. She only just started streaming less than a month ago so she hasn't really found her footing yet but half of her streams so far are her working on the intro animation for miuyuwi, her art momma, which I think is pretty cool. Hopefully she gets to debut properly soon, I like her so far.


Redclaw

Another male vtuber. Unlike the other two in this entry, this guy seems to really go with the dinosaur theme, with his notifications being clips from Land Before Time and other dinosaur movies. He also draws dinosaurs, in addition to other vtuber models, and I believe he made his own model himself. He has multiple models; the main Tyrannosaur model, a human model, and one made to look like Baby Sinclaire from Jim Henson's Dinosaurs and he changes his voice both naturally and with effects for each model. I wouldn't really say he's for me though, his voice sounds like Nux but switches between being more Jewish or British and his whole vibe is very "Twitch", for lack of a better term. You know, a lot of group collabs and overly friendliness. Not manipulative, just maybe artificial, but that's just my impression, I could be completely wrong, I'm not a collab guy.

DINOvember Part 3
Dinosaurolophus

Another indie that made and rigged their own model. I have to say I am a little disappointed in the design though, as this is one of the very few female dinosaur vtubers that isn't another T. rex or generic "dinosaur" and instead of going with a unique design that would make her standout, she is another dog girl. For context she is a Parasaurolophus which would have looked something like this:

This design discrepancy is explained in her lore. She claims to be a Parasaurolophus but is in fact a primitive mammal that was raised by a Parasaurolophus couple. With that nitpick out of the way I think she is pretty fun. Like Saurawr from last week, she is another Polish woman with a nice voice that is pleasant to listen to, though that could just be because I like the accent. She plays a variety of games that aren't just flavor of the month shit or battle royale/MOBA garbage that a lot of other indies play. True to her Slavic heritage she has even played Heroes of Might & Magic III on stream, though sadly, as she is a Twitch streamer, the only evidence of this is a short clip of her comparing the Rampart faction to a town in Poland rather than the whole stream. Fair warning though, her boyfriend is usually in the room when she is streaming and is one of her chat mods, so she is not for anyone who gets upset at "male voice on stream" (we don't have anyone like that here do we?).

Raachan

Another indie that made and rigged their own model and this one is an art mom to some other indie vtubers. She is currently on break but still occasionally streams so it was a bit difficult to find stuff on her. This kind of demonstrates one of the things I hate about Twitch. If someone goes on break their channel looks dead and if a channel is dead, it looks like it never existed. Why would anyone want this? The only case where this would make sense would be if you were someone who made edgy content and deleted it right after stream, but we all know Twitch doesn't allow you to do anything contraversial unless you're rocking a pair of double D's and swinging them in front of the camera while doing so. Anyway, back on topic, I was able to find that she does Minecraft and kareokes but couldn't really discern much about her personality from these. One thing she did do was make this cute gif that may or may not be useful in making further entries to this series:

Jen_o_saurus

No reference sheet for this one but guys, guess what? Another indie that made and rigged her own model! What I enjoy about both Jen_o_saurus (and Dinosaurolophus) is that she is at that two view sweet spot where she has enough viewers to keep conversation and banter going on throughout the stream but is still small enough that she can address and recognize each chat member personally. She also has a pleasant mature voice and a fairly calm demeanor. I will say, though, she is the least "dinosaur" out of all the dinosaur vtubers I've seen so far. I mean she looks tall and is wearing green, and she has an egg and a couple of rocks in her stream background but that's about it. Apparently she is going on break soon and when she comes back in January she will have a new redesigned model either resembling a Tyrannosaurus or a Stegosaurus so that should remedy this fault.

No idea why the formatting is so inconsistent, apologies.

Yeah Pekora didn't even flinch when saying she has not talked to "Ru-chan" since she was yeeted. They were never close and the legendary 3rd-gen bond was pretty business-like at least in this connection.

Pekora is probably not real close friends with anyone in Holo. Marine? maaaybe but they have very different types of personalities. Pekora would rather go well with someone like Botan or Watame.

I doubt Pekora has an IRL BFF as well. That would mean... overall she doesn't have an actual BF. She's one of those that goes hard and 100% with her audience.

DINOvember Part 4: EXTINCTION

I ended up being a day late on this one, not that anyone really cares, as I started the week off looking for some interesting currently active dino tubers but found that most of them either have too little information available on them, because they stream infrequently on Twitch where all of their shit gets deleted, couldn't find much to comment on, or discovered them too late in the week. Instead I got dragged down the rabbit hole that is inactive dinosaur vtubers. As it turns out, much like real dinosaurs, some of the most interesting dino tubers are already dead so that's what I'll be covering for the finale of this month long journey. I've listed these from what I find least interesting to most interesting and spoilered for length. Hang on to your butts this is going to be a long one.

Sujisaur

Sujisaur is a Brazilian Velociraptor vtuber. Like many of these indie dino tubers, she is an artist that made her own model. The model is a little odd, the mouth moves when she speaks and it blinks and floats around from side to side rather than reading her movements but it has a certain charm to it. She also may or may not have created the art for some other indies' models, either that or she simply made the reference sheet. Apparently, she would sometimes stream with her boyfriend, Mikuna Karyuu, who is also a Velociraptor vtuber, pictured here in a drawing she made:

She is currently on hiatus due to health complications. Her last archived stream on twitch was from 5 months ago and her last health update on Twitter was earlier this month.

Chippiepuff

Chippiepuff is a Triceratops (dragon?) vtuber. Obviously the reference sheet used here isn't identical to what is on screen during her streams but this is what I found. Design and color are pretty good but the placement of the nose horn is a bit awkward. She made and rigged her own model as well as those of some no view vtubers. Her model is a little janky in some places but I have been spoiled by watching Juniper so I might be biased. Her final stream was in September and in the one stream archived from 10 months ago she said she was applying to corporations so maybe she got picked up by some micro corp. I find it a bit odd how she advertises that she is 19 and has autism on a lot of her stuff, especially since one of the main things she did aside from art was ASMR. I guess becoming an ASMR vtuber at 19 is better than opening up an onlyfans at 18, but not by a wide margin. Probably more interesting than Chippiepuff herself was what I found out from watching her stream. Remember that one guy with a lisp that thought he was a wolf from that otherkin documentary Jim did a stream on? Well, I guess they're trans now, not that that is much of a surprise. Also I found a new friend for Daniel:

Ranasaur

Ranasaur is a Carnotaurus gal or a gyaru kyoryu if you are a fan of Japanese alliteration. No videos for this one as there don't seem to be any of her, save for one Amongus collab with a bunch of other dinosaur vtubers where you can't even hear her speak. With no videos and no debut date listed on her Twitter I have no idea if she is retired, pre-debut or just a vtweeter. She seems to have a model, which she, just like the previous entires, made herself. The concept is pretty solid and there are parts of it that I really like but it is just a little bit too gaudy for my taste, though I suppose that is kind of the point. If she is a vtweeter at least has an edge on the others by frequently posting the art she makes. Examples here:

She's pretty good and does drawings of both dinosaurs and other vtubers which is pretty cool. Usually you don't get stylized artists that are good at both character and creature drawings unless they are full blown professionals, and even then they typically specialize in one or the other. Despite not streaming she seems to be very active in the dinosaur vtuber micro community often retweeting and doing art for them. Her throne is linked on her Twitter, though, which does look kind of bad if she doesn't stream.

Kera Tsuno

Another Triceratops and no videos for this one either as she streamed on Twitch so all of her content has been nuked. Her last tweet was December of last year with nothing seeming to lead up to her retirement other than taking a break that September due to some IRL events. I like this design, it's pretty cute. Her Twitter bio lists her as a retired paleontologist, though this is likely just part of the character lore, as scientists seldom really retire and she is definitley too young to retire anyway. In reality she is a cosplayer and sometimes streamed herself making her costumes. She does seem to have a genuine passion for dinosaurs though, and was even more active in the dino tuber community than Ranasaur is now, often promoting dinosaur vtubers when they debuted and collabing with them, drawing little personalized "compy head" icons for them, similar to what Tenma does for Phase Connect collabs. Her streams seem to have mostly been Monster Hunter, vehicle simulator/tank and ship warfare games and Genshin with some dinosaur games, art and costume making streams interspersed throughout. From what few, very brief clips I saw on Nitter her voice seems unusually deep which makes her a bit questionable to me. I don't know, here is a picture of her cosplay, you can judge for yourself.

Taya Rex

Alright here is where the real interesting stuff begins. Taya Rex is a German T. rex vtuber who was part of a trio released by the now defunt German vtuber company PITAPAT. As you can probably tell, her art was done by Ayamy, making her siblings with Yozora Mel from Hololive and fellow prehistoric creature Shabel Tonya. Let me raise my argument for why I think you guys would like her in the form of these two images:

In all seriousness I think these convergences on our ancestral iconography are probably just coincidence. Like many of the others listed, she streamed on Twitch so most of the record of what she did is gone, but there are some collabs she did with other vtubers that have survived including one with that intersex chick that is apparently popular on 4chan.

There is an interesting contrast in her manner between both of these collabs. In the first she gives off "protect this gremlin" energy, similar to Yuni when she collabed with Juniper though probably not as strong and definitely not as awkward. The second, in contrast, is more like a calm interview. I really like her energy especially when she is in gremlin mode. Also she manages to make German sound cute, which is commendable on its own. She is the only dinosaur vtuber I could find on the vtuber wiki, where she is described as a metalhead which is cool, though the only band mentioned is Slipknot so, meh.
One of the things I find most interesting about her is the downfall of her company and how quickly it seemed to happen. Her career as a vtuber only lasted from May of 2021 to October of that same year and the company PITAPAT was dissolved 2 days after her and her two genmates' graduation. How the company fell so quickly is a complete mystery to me as they had enough influence and money to get Mel's artist and Taya herself was even on a panel of German vtubers with Kiara, which should have gotten some eyes on the company:

The irony is not lost on me that the German vtuber agency folded after a few months while the Jewish corp run by a known scammer recently showed itself to be a strong contender in the small corpo scene.

Mizuno Kanbase

Finally, we have Mizuno Kanbase (or Kanbase Mizuno, I don't know how Japanese names work) the Japanese Triceratops girl. First of all, I just want to say that I absolutely adore this design, everytime I see it I find more tiny details that I love about it, easily among the top ten of my favorite vtuber designs. Her name also literally translates to "triangle face" which is a cute nod to Triceratops which translates to "three horned face". Most of the information I have on this vtuber comes from using Google translate so I'm not sure how accurate it is. She was a part of a trio of vtubers known as Kamomiru Corp. All three members are based on the three colors of the chamomile flower with Nogino Tsumo representing white, Amami Eru for green, and, of course, Mizuno as yellow. Clouds and frogs make sense for white and green respectively but I don't see the connection between Triceratops and the color yellow, but I definitely won't complain. I wish I could say more about Mizuno here but all of her videos are unlisted except for two playlists on her channel, one for songs and another for collabs, so none of her solo material survives so far as I am aware. Of course this material is all in Japanese which makes it even harder to get a read on her personality but I guess she has a pretty cute voice. Here is the only song that she sang solo:

I'm not sure how I feel about it but I will say it is definitely impressive that she seems to sing exclusively in high notes. She started her vtuber career on November 14, of 2020 and graduated August 16 of this year. Also her bithday was on 9/11, nice. It seems that Kamomiru Corp no longer exists. When I looked them up all I could find were feminine hygiene products and an Italian graphic design company. Her two genmates are still around though, with Tsumo now affiliated with a company called Qube and Eru sharing a channel with who I assume to be her artist and rigger. Tsumo now has 4k subs but barely gets double the views of Eru who is at around 500 subs, slightly less than Mizuno's dead channel. Interestingly all of both Mizuno's and Tsumo's tweets from before Mizuno's graduation announcement seem to be deleted, or at least I couldn't find them on Nitter, but Eru's tweets go back much further, though I haven't checked how far, and she even reposted art of the trio together leading up to Mizuno's departure, which I can only assume coincided with the company's termination. Obviously something happened here, likely involving Mizuno and Tsumo specifically, but I have no idea what it could have been. The unlisting of her videos while her genmates continue their careers makes this all the more suspicious.

Graduation is not the same as quitting or retiring like some people corrected me, Graduation mean you decide to retire on your own and get a proper good bye with blackjack and hookers (Coco,Sana), Quitting is when you decide to finish your contract for several reasons like you company is lame (Suzaku) or you have health issues (Kira), Retiring is when the company kick you out because you did the mother of all yabs and decide that out you go (Chris,Rushia,Kaoru)

In Holopro retired dont get the OG (or Alumni in the english website) tag on their bio but are declared damnatio memorae and deleted from imperial records, quitters do get them (Kira) the only exception being Aloe when even when she leaved on her volition was declared damnatio
