Just another reminder that outside of her little clique, Lily is not a respected Youtuber, and just about everyone is more than willing to dunk on her, largely for that SU video. I think there's just some inherent cringe that comes from a rantsona video about a children's cartoon that's over 2 hours long that really resonates with people. They don't even have to watch it, the fact Lily made it at all is regarded as embarrassing by most well-adjusted adults.

The saddest thing is, Jerry didn't even make the best anti-Steven Universe video. Robobuddies did. Unfortunately, her video got taken down for some reason, but its still remembered more fondly than Jerry's piece of word-vomit.

I think that stems from intent. The intent of the Robobuddies video seemed to be critical in the classical sense. They wanted to show to improve because they enjoyed the show but knew it had flaws. Her video was intended to be constructive.

Lily is not constructive with her criticisms. Lily's brand of criticism has the intent of pointing out flaws not to help anyone improve or make a better product, but to shame the product, those who made it, and those who enjoy it. To make them feel bad for liking something so clearly flawed.

“I like this show, but here’s how it could be better” vs “I hate this show and it’s the most evil thing ever and you’re a horrible person if you don’t agree with me.” essentially.

Worst part about it was that she aped a bunch of points from Robobuddies video about the animation, and used them to make the team out to be morally bankrupt and lazy. It was so bad that Robo had to put in the description that she didn't support Lily's video.
And Lily still hates it when people prioritize animation over writing, so using the points wasn't constructive at all. She just wanted to make the crew look as incompetent as possible.

I don't think SU had the right idea when they let the storyboarders go off model, but I don't think it makes the show irredeemable, it was just a hippie idea that didn't work.

I'd point out that even if Robobuddies absolutely hated SU she'd still have done a better job because she actually criticized the show for real issues, and Lily seems to think that non-binary, jewish, bisexual woman, Rebecca Sugar is a fucking nazi because she believes that you shouldn't kill your enemies.

SU's off model shit is a clear holdover from her time on AT, which worked better since most of the characters are noodle-armed and have abstract designs. It's a lot harder with characters who have a bit of meat on their bones and are mostly humanoid (even the gems). If I was making the show I wouldn't do it the same way, but at the same time most of those shitposts you see online regarding the off-model boards are mostly from the same animation studio (Rough Draft) so it's not really 100% one individual's problem.

Sometimes it's truly egregious, most of the time it's as benign as a character being maybe a centimetre shorter between shots. It really depends on who's boarding and which studio is animating.

All of this btw? More thought than Lily ever put into her analysis.

She can't help herself.

What gets me is that that video is the outlier of Lily's videos. She has never come close to even the hour mark even again.
You know what? I honestly can't blame her for doing a two-hour video and realizing, "holy shit, that was exhausting, I'm never doing that again". Streaming for several hours is one thing, but the work required for writing and editing a two-hour video essay is something else entirely.

The results speak for themselves tho, I don't doubt several regulars wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the buzz the video drummed up. If she made more in depth reviews like that instead of circling the same dead topics every other week I think she'd be doing a lot better. It might be exhausting but nothing worth it is ever easy. This new pokemon video is taking a lot of work and from what I've seen so far it doesn't seem that bad.

Lily is noticeably distant towards Lolo’s advances. She may be genuinely uninterested or scared to show her interest so publicly after flirting with Lolo on stream got highlighted.

What Lolo see’s in Lily as a potential partner is anyone’s guess.

Currently editing the sixteen millionth video about redemption arcs. Thrilling.

Edit: Checked in at 4 hours, 40 or so minutes, she's thinking about publishing a book but doesn't want to because "her stalkers would just make more trouble for her", same with getting a job, people would try to get her fired. Which is why she's a "ghostwriter" apparently.

According to her she ghostwrote for someone and the book crashed and burned, because it wasn't a "marketable idea".

...what?

So she's not wrong about people wanting to go back to an era of harsher rivals, and the reason for that is exactly what was already said; the 'nice' rivals aren't really satisfying to beat. Hau was too chill, Hop was too pathetic, the group from Pokemon X and Y had no personalities... Nemona from the current games seems (in my limited interaction with the community these days) to have a more positive reception because, despite being a 'nice' rival, she is also ultra-competitive and encourages the player character because she wants an epic battle again a worthy opponent.

Gary was such a great rival because he was a schoolyard bully who would ambush you when you were struggling toward the end of dungeons and would consequently wind up being VERY satisfying to overcome. Silver has a lot of potential but not enough text space to realize it (although there's a really cute detail where his final team has a Crobat -- a happiness evolution -- showing that he's learned to love and respect his Pokemon instead of using them as tools). Brandon and May were the first 'friendly' rivals and fondly remembered, although I admit they don't do much for me, and Barry was a hyperactive child hurling himself into situations far beyond his ability.

Regarding Bianca and Cheren, I think Bianca would be generally positive (while also struggling with her own inferiority complex as she watched you and Cheren develop as trainers far ahead of her) but Cheren's praise was grudging at best and eventually gave way to frustration about how you kept besting him despite his hard work. Both of them reach a catharsis that's realized in the sequel games, which also gives them an advantage of watching them not only develop through the original games but also to see them after they've grown and established new lives. They aren't fondly remembered for kissing your ass, they're fondly remembered for being real characters with real arcs that didn't completely overshadow the protagonist.

Les specifically about Pokemon, no, people don't particularly like being praised at every turn. When you're constantly being told how great you are for doing nothing it winds up not meaning anything and you don't feel a sense of accomplishment. I don't play World of Warcraft but I'm guessing since you're the Faction Champion the NPC dialogue puts a lot of emphasis on playing you up personally (which is how Lily interprets the Champions as being the greatest ever). I also can't account for what she means about the 'only NPC that doesn't praise you', but I'm willing to bet this is less a case of being upset that one guy doesn't appreciate your genius and more that they overcompensated for this character not praising you at every turn-- in other words, bad writing.

(You actually see that in Mary Sue fanfics a lot, where every other person will heap endless praises on Mary Sue except for one character who is meant to 'balance' the praise but just comes off as being irrational and nasty, since they were literally just there to prove that not EVERYBODY loves Mary. It's just amateur.)

Press X to DOUBT. I really don't believe that Lily would accept a job that
1. requires her to write somebody else's idea
2. requires editorial oversight
3. has an actual and probably pretty harsh deadline

Also now instead of insisting that she doesn't NEED a regular job it's actually the fear of her stalkers that keeps her from getting one. Not that she has a nasty, self-entitled attitude that would make her nigh unhirable.

Hope someone has that stream as she deleted the vod. Possibly because she's ill and had to vomit.

@King_Boo_Official A further explanation from her and the wife: It's only ok when it's lesbian. More to the point it's only acceptable when said characters are created by Tee Franklin because Lily knows that Tee didn't create these characters to titillate anyone. :story: Lily really wants to put her penis in that woman's walking assist frame.

Lily I will support you on Patreon if you promise to never talk about anime ever again.
Please, anything to make it stop, you have no idea what you're talking about.
EDIT: Misogyny is when leotard

Fun fact: when you make 2B blow off her skirt, 9S does the same with his shorts. It's less noticeable, but it's equality.

But yes, Automata is very misogynist. Nevermind characters like Pascal being femme sounding, but using male pronouns. Or YorHa letting the androids have whatever parts they want. I'm sure Lily thinks the game wants to **** 2B.

The WoW NPC she's referring to is Nathanos Blightcaller, Sylvanas' personal simp asskisser Champion. She's right that he isn't constantly praising the player, but omits the fact that it's because he's constantly deriding everyone's abilities while bragging about his own (and Sylvanas'), even when he never succeeds at anything he does. Lily likes him because he's the only character that is a constant ally to Sylvanas and is devoted to following her orders no-questions-asked.

He wasn't well-received in the community mostly for the whole "derides everyone around him while being an ineffectual, smug bastard" angle. And when Sylvanas' image went into the shitter naturally Nathanos' followed because he's her devoted brownnoser. It doesn't have anything at all to do with the fact that he's one of the only characters that doesn't praise you constantly, it's entirely because he's a prick, full of himself, and closely linked with Sylvanas.

Tee Franklin hasn't created any characters of note. Harley Quinn was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm (Batman the Animated series aired 9/11/92) and Poison Ivy was created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino (Batman #181, published June 1966). Also, its a pretty bold assumption that Tee Franklin didn't want to titilate anyone seeing as last I checked, Tee Franklin was into women, so having Harley fucking mount Ivy in a bed seems pretty horny to me.
