Mastodon - "Decentralized" Twitter Knockoff & Rat King Breeding Ground

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
The "why does this need to be so complicated" reaction that people give when presented with choice always gets me. It really shows how badly our society has been psyoped into just doing whatever the authorities tell them. Choice has become a foreign concept to them.

I don't think it's a psyop or gov thing, it's a human thing. We have far more choices than we've ever had at any point in history anyway. Thing is, people don't want to make the wrong choices and miss out on the options they didn't choose. By having less choices, they can guarantee a lot more people chose the same as them. Which is one of the main criticisms of the fediverse (yet one of its pillars), people don't want to be forced into a specific server and not be able to freely interact with other servers. Or be stuck in a shitty one.

I signed up for an account on a smaller techie instance and most of my follow requests are stuck at "Pending"

Apparently a lot of Mastodon admins prohibit smaller instances from following them, completely defeating the purpose of a decentralized platform.

But it's never been about decentralization oc. It's about power.

Latest example: Mike from the scholar instance tries to follow David from the jounro instance... only to discover that scholars on Mastodon are apparently terrified of journalists:

MikeFromScholarTriesToFollowDavidFromJourna.jpg MikeFromScholarTriesToFollowDavidFromJourna01.jpg

Imagine having to hop instances every fucking time you want to follow someone because it turns out their instance blocks yours.

The mere idea of our website can fuck up the entire flow of information for half of the fucking Fediverse. Just uhmazin

My universities had Kiwifarms.cc and a few others blocked. Fucking thing looked like a ghost town since no one used it. I saw no reason to sign up.

By the way, with all of the people joining Mastodon it's become a new target for hackers. Have fun fuckers. If only these idiots knew how many groups were looking into getting information. The more people join the more the hack is worth.

I knew Mastodon and its associated tech was garbage since the beginning, but I just never knew how deep the shit pit was. Apparently? It's infinite.

It's funny how retards doomposting about Musk killing twitter or whatever flock to a platform that's technically and socially worse in every single way. The only good thing about Mastodon is having the freedom to start your own instance and say whatever the fuck you want but these NPCs don't even care about that, they just think "Musk bad" despite the many, many shortcomings of the platform for being their safe space hugbox.

The Fediverse could work (does work) as a loose conglomeration of instances aimed at niche interests. For example, shitpoasters, loli/shota fans, and computer geeks have all created Fediverse sites of their own.

But by design, the Fediverse will never have One Authority to Ban Badthinkers. Nor will you ever get the kind of eyeballs on a Fediverse interest that you can get on a centralized social media giant like Twitter or Facebook. Almost everybody of note on Mastodon also has a Twitter account which they use for 99%+ of their social media posting.

I like how they panic about some billionaire owning Twitter and then run to a place where they get incessantly called niggers and faggots and told to kill themselves, while getting blocked by other retarded SJW instances over imaginary connections to the Farms.

Mastodon newbie Chris: Mastodon is way too technical. Why do I have two @-s in my address? Why do I have to choose a server? Why don't you just assign people a server? Why not assign one based on performance/connection speed/how crowded it already is? If you use technical jargon and make the tool non-obvious, you're selecting for tech-savvy users and excluding the rest.

Mastodon nerd RenHavingFun: Because that's the point. It's not a product. The whole point is to be decentralized. The point is to curate your experience to be exactly what you want. Not that hard.

Mastodon newbie Chris: ?!

I want to see Chris try to figure out how a forum works.

What I think a bunch of right wing retards are missing here is that Mastodon is open source and decentralized, meaning that it is superior to Twitter. Sure, there are a bunch of them filled with stupid lib faggots, but the protocol is open, which means that Gab can also have a Mastodon instance. Why would you complain about that? It's actual free speech, instead of "who can sniff some CEO's asshole the hardest."

I thought the same thing initially.

In practice, however, you're just ending up with a couple dozen or so un-paid CEO-equivalents who all agree collectively to block any of the freer instances. You get marginalized anyway.

Gab and Spinster and Poast might all have instances, but users on those instances can't talk to anyone else.

BTW, isn't he basically inadvertently describing an effective way to DDoS a Mastodon instance? Correct me if I am misinterpreting this, but apparently all you need to nuke an instance is make an army of Mastodon socks and start filling up an instance with random high-resolution images/videos/etc.
Imagine being so fail at coding that your site is vulnerable to Matthew Moulton.

The more people move to Mastodon, the more stories from perplexed newbies I have to share. User "Tom Petty of Gay Smut" (you know that's a Mastodon user) was locked out of his account, so he tried to reset the password... only to discover that a simple password reset is not possible on Mastodon and the only way to get back into his account was to plea to whichever SJW censor runs the instance he's on: "This thing is so fucking siloed", "God, that's so not intuitive and I hate it"

The far-left anarchists on Mastodon sure don't like them freeloaders, LMAO. When you go to Mastodon, bring along deep pockets with deep wallets:

Next, here's how to make money on "demonetized" communist Mastodon: you offer to host an instance for those who can't.
(No spam) Look at this once in a lifetime opportunity bargain of 10k active users for $250 per month:

Mastodon is too difficult to get used to and the timeline is not engaging:

MastodonDifficult2GetUsed2.jpg

Let's get to know "Stux", the head censor of the biggest Mastodon instance, mastodon.social:

As flocks of undiagnosed mental patients head for other apps in a signaling migrational herd, one has to wonder if they even understand what they're doing. Meet Stux, the one-man machine behind the largest Mastodon server, and watch how he governs the "decentralized" alternative the media is touting as the replacement for Elon's new social-media hate machine. Is Mastodon a valid replacement for Twitter? Is it truly the "decentralized" haven that people are calling it?

Mastodon is being attacked by trolls, LMAO:

Cross-posting from the Demon Momma thread, Emmy (a far-left trans Youtuber living Seattle with his gay polyfuq harem), made this video explaining Mastodon and the Fediverse to his paypiggies, the sImps:

Unfortunately for Demon Momma, out of 14k Twatter followers, only 504 followed him to Mastodon.

Demon Momma then bragged on his private exclusive elite Mastodon instance about deleting all his tweets and no longer tweeting... only to go back to Twatter and start tweeting there again within two days:

See? All these dopamine junkies can't go for more than two fucking days without Twatter, yet the EU thinks it can block Twatter without massive withdrawal symptoms from all these Twatter junkies.

The reason they all hate using Mastodon so much despite its agreeable politics is because they've become addicted to their large Twitter followings. People like "Demonmama[at sign]masto.anarch.cc" (Ironically, I'd bet anarch.cc has VERY strict moderation) usually wind up providing some kind of ex-post-facto rationalization along the lines of "We've got to hold the line against Elon Musk!" for staying on Twitter instead of moving to Mastodon. It's all right to stay on Twitter, but I wish they'd be honest that Twitter's network effect provides them with an irreplaceable amplifier that they won't give up instead of acting like French partisans circa 1942.
