Plagued Super Smash Bros. Community

Nintendo is infamous for their lack of understanding towards the community. But this one was spot on.

Should have banned Nairo 🥱

Writing a document on how some autist was in your twitter mentions every tweet wanting a pedophile banned is not progress.

You have a very specific kind of retard turbo autism to be into Smash like these man-children are. People like to call them "nerdy" but that's giving them too much credit. Nerds turn out to become engineers doing practical things and having careers. These guys are just losers dependent on mommy and daddy to get by while they dedicate all their time to a 20+ year old party game they hand-jammed into a "competitive fighting game" while pushing 40. I rank furries above these faggots on the faggot totem pole.

In 20 years most of them will have died, trooned out, gone homeless after their parents died, or suicided. Eventually it will sink in how they fucked themselves long term in life in so many ways and that's when some of these stuff above will start to happen.

I'm honestly surprised Nintendo didn't do this earlier with how embarrassing and frankly spergy the Smash scene is.
They've been doing this and caused major tourneys to be cancelled before, they even tried to stop them at EVO 2013. I'm not even sure why they think Nintendo is just gonna support and throw money at them when they've proven over and over they are not that fond of the scene.

I'd even say that it's not that they aren't fond of the scene. It's just that it is a retarded scene, particularly when melee gets involved. VGBC acted stupidly and as per usual they were able to direct all the autism to Nintendo instead of taking the fall they should be taking because they are a shit organization that wants to be taken seriously but acts like children.

Technicals got the right idea.

Scar has a meltdown and goes on a schizo rant about attending tournaments even when they get cancelled:

Smash players are so unbelievably detached from reality. The same community that willfully centralizes broadcasting privileges and tournament organization around shitty orgs like VGBC, who tightly guard their “original content” with draconian policies (which conveniently didn’t apply to their favorite pedophile grifter until recently), is condemning Nintendo because they’re tightly guarding their IP.

No amount of kvetching or threats of protest will be enough to get a company like Nintendo to do anything more than begrudgingly tolerate them ever again. You get what you fucking deserve.

OKay after going through all the shit SWT published and the Nintendo response there is something that doesn't make any sense.

If VGBC/SWT were told on Nov 23rd that they had to shut down, why the fuck did they continue to promote the Championship all the way until the 29th and not just go silent. You could think it was to not cause drama but they caused drama either way, and it just seems dishonest to continue to promote it for a full week instead of giving people a chance to refund their flight tickets or shit like that. Even just a tweet like "hey SWT not happening, more later".

Other thing that seems off for me is that SWT was hard on trying to throw Panda and even smaller tournaments under the bus because they themselves fucked up with an early announcement. They seem to take a leap an assume that the smaller tournys had not gotten a license agreement ready when they announced when Nintendo could very well have given them the green light to announce before finilizing the details on their licenses or completing the paperwork.

There is also the fact that they demonize Panda for being retarded. Panda wanted exclusivity and were operating under the assumption that SWT had no license because they had not announced a license yet and so thought they would get shut down (and in the end they weren't wrong about that). The cherry on top of that is that SWT actually mentioned that Panda had to yield and allow for tournaments to be part of both circuits so in the end that was a huge nothing burger.

This all sounds like VGBC/SWT fucking up, being salty about it and sowing discord and discontent with Nintendo and now the Smash community in general just to try and centralize Smash around them. Hell, Nintendo said in the statement on the 30th that they were not shutting down the Championship. You'd think that SWT would jump on that opportunity and "go out with a bang" with a huge championship now that they have Nintendo saying they can proceed on paper.

TL;DR VGBC/SWT are being very shady about it and it all sounds like gay ops to throw Panda, Nintendo and everyone else under the bus to cover for their fuck-up.

Should've banned Nairo earlier...

That thumbnail makes me think that Smash players will keep playing the game, until Nintendo has to contact the CCP to send a tank to one of those tournaments. And even that may not be enough to stop them from playing Smash, somehow.

Nintendo statement

The more we learn about this, the more it all sounds like VGBC fucking up, overreacting and trying to sink Panda and everyone else along with them if things don't go their way. Absolute manchildren.

So let me repeat this for the ones in the back, YOU SHOULD HAVE BANNED NAIRO. All of this would probably not be happening if they had.

But then the manchildren will have some kind of amnesia once Nintendo Direct happens. It's the same sing and dance number.
Because they are all gay retards infighting. Throwing shit at Nintendo because they are used to doing it and GimR knows they will jump at the opportunity. I's the perfect way to escape accountability for being a faggot but VGBC will be the first in line whenever nextsmash is announced or some shit. Hope they never get a license and are forced to scatter.

At this point, I wish they up being wagecucks by working at McDonald's

VGBC really is run by absolute autists. Not a single one of those fucks wanted to be responsible.
Lol this little nigger’s a funny dude. I sure hope he’s not a pedo too🤔

Another statement from SWT replying to Nintendo (I hate that these faggots use Google Docs, ever heard of a BLOG?):
OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY SMASH WORLD TOUR 12/02/2022
(5:35 AM PT)

Nintendo’s Official Statement (linked here) has been brought to our attention. We are again very confused at the angle that they are taking:

“When we notified the SWT that we would not license their 2022 or 2023 activities, we also let them know verbally that we were not requiring they cancel the 2022 finals event because of the impact it would have on players. Thus, the decision to cancel the SWT 2022 was, and still is, their own choice.”

We are struggling to understand why Nintendo contacted us at all last week if they truly wanted us to continue operating. We are struggling to understand why they would not simply reach out to us after our event, rather than rush to meet with us before the Thanksgiving holiday break, just two weeks before our Championships event.

Regardless, we stand by our first follow-up (linked here), and would like to reiterate that we received our notice in writing from Nintendo. We also received a direct response to our questions in our call about if we could continue to run the upcoming Championships and the 2023 Tour with the “unofficial” mutual understanding that we would not be shut down. We were told directly that those “times are over.”

And again, we would like to reiterate that in our call we asked Nintendo directly if they understood the impact of canceling both the upcoming Championships and the 2023 Smash World Tour. In particular, we brought up international players traveling to the Championships as well as multiple documentary teams. In response to this question, Nintendo responded that they were “confident that from A-Z, all consequences have been evaluated in making this decision,” specifically acknowledging that fallout scenarios included “some positive, some negative, and some really negative.”

We are also struggling to understand what Nintendo's statement means for tournament organizers in general, and the potential implications made about unlicensed events. Many organizers have already reached out to us asking if Nintendo’s response is a statement of “public permission” to run unlicensed events. We are wondering this as well.

However, maybe the most disappointing and concerning portion of Nintendo’s statement was this quote:

“Panda Global will continue to be a key partner and we look forward to receiving proposals from other groups for tournament licenses. In the meantime, Panda continues to advocate on behalf of the Super Smash Bros. community, even to the point that Panda has advocated for other organizations and tournaments to work with Nintendo, such as The Big House and the organizers of the SWT to benefit the larger Super Smash Bros. community.”

This is especially concerning given that Nintendo has been aware of Panda’s behavior for quite some time - so much so that they directly told us on multiple occasions that it would be addressed. Yet even after countless corroborating testimonies from other community leaders and organizers, Nintendo continues to back Panda as a “key partner” and claims that “Panda continues to advocate on behalf of the Super Smash Bros. community.”

We are incredibly grateful for all of the community support and corroboration regarding the truth of our claims. We understood it was a significant risk to come forward with all of this, but we feel now more than ever that it was absolutely necessary. Especially given this recent statement by Nintendo, we believe this may be one of the most important times the Smash community has ever faced.

We stand by our initial conclusion of our original statement (linked here): we urge Nintendo to please reconsider how they are proceeding in their approach to the Smash community, and to please re-evaluate their relationship with key partners who are causing so much damage.

I'll give autistic commentary later, but reading between the lines here it's clear SWT is making up excuses to try to put off any kind of blame they may have in their cancellation. I am now certain that this entire thing is their fault and not just some misunderstanding. It's also clear that given how quickly this response came out, they are not doing so under legal advise.

Agree, there is no legal advisement here and probably never was. They continue pushing to take Panda down with them, nice of Nintendo to call them out on that. I get that they don't like what Panda did but to claim malicious intent to shut SWT down is just retarded. It's also rich of them to continue assuming that nothing has changed with Nintendo and assume that they didn't talk to Panda when they very well might have done so and they don't know and want Nintendo to shut Panda down because they don't get shit their way.

SWT now has TWO instances of Nintendo saying that can do the championships and they continue to double down and say they won't do them. That doesn't sound like "we want the best for the smash community" to me. What fucking douchebags continue threatening and trying to use the smash audience as a sword against everyone but themselves.

Like Technicals said, VGBC will never accept any wrongdoing on their part and will always deflect.

I don’t even understand why SWT is a thing they’re trying to force. The reason Tekken World Tour is so significant for example is because Tekken is a game that celebrates the martial arts and motifs of different cultures. So naturally it sees a lot of play competitively in a lot of different places.

Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Peru, Pakistan, EU, the Americas, etc. all have top level players who’ve won majors or can be called some of the best in the world. With Smash it’s just the Americas (mainly just US and Mexico I think), Sweden, and Japan. If there was a wealth of hidden talent out there in some 3rd world shit hole they’d have seen it by now. It’s just autists copying something without understanding why it’s great in the first place.
