It seems Jim's return to multiple videos a week was short-lived and we're now back to comfortably lazy form. His views have also dipped and again, accordingly, with only one video this month coming close to breaking 200k.

Please look forward to the end of the month when we'll be going over the annual review for Jim's channel/Patreon. It'll be much more exciting.
It's really bizarre that his most hilariously outdated video (Doom Eternal) outperformed all the others. Especially given how hot Modern Warfare 2 and (presumably? there's a lot of autists out there) Sonic Frontiers are at the moment.

With the speed he has at releasing anything that's relevant I figure we'll see a video about all the tranny pandering in WoW: Dragonflight in about 2 months and about how it's the best thing ever even though he has never to my knowledge ever played the game.

That surprised me too. I'm guessing it's because the main demographic of Modern Warfare aren't the kind of people who watch fat troons whinge on YouTube, and the Sonic video is more about Yuji Naka than his Frontiers controversy (judging by the title; I stopped skimming his videos months ago).

If he'd actually made a video crying about how he got bullied for doing a troll review of Frontiers and called it something like 'Sonic Frontiers Is Trash And Sonic Fans Are Whiny Pissbabies' that would have probably done numbers.

Perhaps, but this was different from his previous issues. The Digital Homicide, Various indies devs, even the Breath Of The Wild DDOS attack all had Jimbo strictly doing nothing wrong beyond having the wrong opinion and being a dick, neither of which should constitute what happened to him in those situations. But with Sonic Frontiers, while his attack towards the devs is hardly the worst thing ever, there's no disputing it was wrong. He built his new brand off of how companies can't respect the little man, and he disrespects the little man for not doing a good job while demeaning others for doing so. Even those who normally sided with him called him out. Jim was never going to cover it because it requires him to actually take a risk when he knows no one is in his corner. He literally needed actually famous people to give him his milk and bottle in the Sub-900-Subs special. It's one of the less obvious traits of his, but him talking shit online until someone sticks his nose in it has been true since at least 2013.

This wasn't my experience at all. I went into DS1 completely blind, aside from knowing about it's notorious difficulty, so I just took my time and explored areas thoroughly. I probably over-levelled my character to offset having no idea what I was doing, and I used summons on a couple bosses I was having trouble with, but I made it to Blight Town before I just lost interest in playing any further.

Honestly, Dark Souls is probably my least favourite game of the Souls genre (I maintain the Nioh games are the best), but the people acting like it's some impenetrable, insurmountable obstacle unless you follow a guide every step of the way are either ADD or exaggerating.

And you should know better than to think anything would stop fat troons from bitching. No concession you make will ever be enough, because for people like Jim it's never actually about the subject at hand, it's only about being able to wield undeserved power over others and bend them to your whims.
Not sure what ADD has to do with it. Usually that enables people to hyperfocus on stuff like video games due to the constant finger movement via the controller or other input. I have adhd and I get through souls games fine Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 are two of my favorite games of the last 10 years tbf. It's things i don't find interesting that I lose interest in fairly quickly and get distracted/forget. I would be a shit accountant most definitely.

Edit: To add. I personally wouldn't give a shit one way or the other if there was some easy mode in souls games. I myself wouldn't touch it, as it would ruin the spirit of the genre for me. However, if someone else would want to use it I wouldn't give a single fuck.

This brings up a good point and it reminds me how silly in retrospect Jim's crusade against low quality steam games seems now. Yeah the asset flip stuff was embarrassingly bad for the developers making them, but who really cares, it was mostly stuff coming out from ramshackle teams and often single people with little experience in actually making games, being sold for dirt cheap prices with at best a few hundred people buying that kind of crap. It would be one thing if Jim was just laughing at their incompetence, but such mockery would be hard to justify on pure schadenfreude grounds so Jimbo always pretended that this was some great moral outrage that Steam was being polluted by these games and he was valiantly bringing this injustice to light.

Kind of says it all, Jim's all talk about big companies and major corporations and their corrosive effects on gaming, but he knows he can't actually do anything meaningful so half the time he just settles for pissing on people who don't really matter at all and aren't really the source of many problems other than the fact that they made a bad game, and considers that his great crusade. Its similar to how he still makes such a big deal about fights he gets into with mentally unstable indie developers, at least they might actually pay attention to him, unlike Ubisoft.

To be honest I fully agree with him pushing against low quality steam games and I hate that the dam broke, so to speak. It led to a total oversaturation in new releases that is impossible to stay on top of, and it just doesn't reflect well on a storefront when stock so many steaming turds. I've mentioned it before but the PlayStation Store has sccumbed to the same fate and it's an absolute chore wading through new releases to find the actual games in between The Jumping Taco Turbo and John Fart. Although it doesn't help that the storefront barely functions.

Nah, it's always been stupid. It's not like you were planning on playing every single game on Steam anyway, so why do you care if the new releases are more likely to be crap? All Steam did was make it easier for indie devs to get their half-decent experimental game to the 5 people who care about it, and everyone else didn't even notice. Unless they were perpetually miserable retards like Jim who go looking for something to complain about, that is.

Steam has always kept up with making high-quality filters so you're never forced to wade through dozens of garbage games to get what you're looking for. With reviews, discovery queue, search filters, etc. I don't think I've ever seen a single "asset flip" or anything close to it, except through Jim's videos specifically.

I'd actually say there was a big issue with Steam's low quality releases. I made it back on my old account here, but here's the short version:
Based Gloria said:
...allow me to say you the trouble of hearing what you already know and instead answer a question: why does this matter? It's not like those hackbuster films that tricky Grandma Taters into buying Cars Life 3 by mistake; people know $0,40 budget game made in a week when they see it, and anyone dumb enough to buy it deserves what get after the first scam, right?

You would be 100% correct... if that was the problem. This is not a matter of Scam but Spam.

You see, when 100 games are released but only 2 are games intended to be played instead of mined for trading cards or bitcoin or whatever else people are using in money-laundering schemes today, what happens to those two games? That first day is the only day they get the front-page results on the "new releases" page, and the next day, there are 100 more. And that just keeps going day after day.
Here's the link to the full post.

Gloria said it well so I won't go on about it.

TL;DR the good games get lost in the noise

It was just a joke about people not paying attention to the game, no need to get all puzzle pieces about it.

I agree, I'm not suggesting the engagement he'd have got would have been positive, but I think a lot more people would have watched the video and left a comment calling him a dumbass than they would for a JQ about a complete has-been's insider trading scandal.

I would assume it has a lot to do with people wanting to find out what "The Doom Eternal Controversy" is and watching long enough for it to count.

I'm having a kernel of an idea here about a channel that addresses and "explains" only made up events as if they were real and serious like The Onion. "Explaining The Kiwi Farms' Bowling Green Massacre", "Why Incels Have Declared 'Unceasing War' On Clowns" or "Everything You Wanted To Know About The Serial Killer Cleveland Steamer" that kind of thing then just strings the viewer along until they count as a view.

I stopped even bothering to look through the Steam store for anything. If it gets announced somewhere or there's a kickstarter, that's the only way I'll ever be aware of something actually interesting. Sometimes I rarely hear of a game until either just before it comes out, or long after. Nobody wants to sift through an endless sea of trash to find one real game.

I think the last Steam game I bought was Vampire Survivors, and I only found it through word of mouth from a podcast I listen to.

Annoyingly, the Playstation Store has had a very similar issue for quite a while (if you're a cheap fuck like me and arrange by price) where you have to sift through dozens of $1 fake games before you find the discounted real games, but its nowhere near the level of Steam's trash problem.

I tried watching one of his videos for old times sake and I just can't do it. He's just so unbelievable bitter and he seems to think his passive-aggressive sass is clever and funny but really it's just infuriating to listen to. I think this is why is audience just keeps shrinking, even people who in theory agree with him are giving up on him. Jim just can't handle any criticism or anyone even disagreeing with him and that is not a good personality to have when you make youtube videos for a living.

I can't figure out if he's always been like this or was just better at hiding it during his peak years.

Edit: I forgot to add that I feel he's always had a habit of deflecting criticism of his content as "it's satire" and that's definitely gotten worse. Yeah his video production skills are shit but in his mind that just makes it funny because it's satire and he's being self deprecating about it so it's okay. Seeing him do that bugged me even when I liked him.

? It's not like I wrote a Harry Potter novel in my response to you. I'm out though, Sterling isn't someone I find all that funny, just odd, and I have enough Videogame sludge on my plate laughing at Razorfist.

Jim's put himself in an impossible position because there is no one to fill the void left by everyone fleeing his channel. The market for Jim's particular brand of content has shrank considerably any way, but even if it hadn't zoomer troons are all on Tik Tok watching freaks like Erin Reed and Keffals, and YouTube troons like Contra and PhilosophyTube look much, much better (RELATIVELY SPEAKING) and have production values and content light years ahead of Jim; not to mention they committed to the bit instead of pulling that enby shit Jim did to justify keeping the brand recognition of his flagship show while still demanding he be called Steph.

TL;DR: Absolutely nobody, including other troons, is interested in a 40yo morbidly obese clown dressed like a League of Gentleman character ranting about increasingly esoteric video game topics.
I can't figure out if he's always been like this or was just better at hiding it during his peak years.
I think the general consensus of the thread is he used to be playing a character but it's not an act any more.
