Ron DeSanctimonious was a cruise ship lobbyist and took longer to reopen Florida from the scamdemic lockdowns than South Dakota, Tennessee, or Georgia did. For me the Trump dinner bullshit sealed the deal on him. Every fucking right wing griftoid suddenly pulled a BlueAnon style move and started repeating the same "Trump met with antisemite and white supremacists! DeSantis would never do that!" line, even before the actual blueanon retards caught on. The whole thing was so obviously staged and DeSantis just sits there basking in it all. It feels like he really is just the "compromise," a way to get pesky Rightoids to shut up about trump while not actually putting someone outside of uniparty control near the oval office.

When media networks started bringing him up as a potential 2024 candidate a lot I was skeptical then personally. DeSantis is definitely a conservative without a doubt but he seems like one that is more willing to cooperate with the greater status-quo establishment as a whole. Though with that said he does look to kind of put a half-baked effort into some issues or stances and has a facade of populism but is unwilling or is choosing not to dedicate more energy to that particular political ideal.

The official reason was the “don’t say gay bill” so to me that falls under the umbrella term of wokeness because it’s all similarly stupid stuff. (I have no idea if you meant this to suggest my recollection of history is off or if you think DeSantis and Florida Republicans were stupid)
The point is doing away with the special district was meant as a punishment. Maybe it was meant to just make them annoyed or maybe it was meant to have them change their behavior some way. I get it’s been a while since they first started this nonsense but the history is pretty easy to google.
But if you bring the district right back then what was the point?
There’s also the glaring issue that if the problem was the Act they passed for the district was TOO special, they could’ve tried changing the act. That’s a bit of an oddity in all this.

The past week on twitter has been incredible. I didn't think at all that Elon would go through with fixing twitter. Watching leftists melt the fuck down over not having complete control over who can speak and what they can say has been so satisfying. It's long been established that's how lefty ideology works in general. That's why there's so many memes about how the left can't meme because their memes are walls of text. Lefty ideology can only exist as long as it's presented with very carefully crafted context. Their ideas can't stand on their own, hence they can't be argued because they fall apart.

It's good to remember that the Hunter story is not at all the only scandal that involves Twitter censorship and collusion. It sounds like the reports will go into COVID-19 information throttling, banned users, the Babylon Bee, etc. It's difficult to isolate any one of these issues as something that no one cares about, or that's already been dealt with. Each story brings in another group of people who have a particular concern, and you connect those people to the bigger story of the government's misinformation boards and how they can make anything count as "intelligence" to create censorship. Could have long legs.
