Been quite some time since I saw that doc but it struck me then not that Ian was outright making fun of Fatty but was just using him as a spectacle, like a sideshow exhibit. It seemed like Ian was wanting to do a Louis Theroux style doc except Louis appears to actually empathise with the people he interviews and appears to have an honest dialogue with them, given what happened with the Sam Hyde doc I don't think Ian is capable of that at all.

I think that part of why the recent prepper video falls flat for many is that as one pays attention to Mr. Jomha's change over time, it kind of feels like he may have done a video like that partially due to the politics of those that are typically associated in the prepper world; this isn't to say that some guy with an army's worth of canned tuna and rice packed in his basement isn't worthy of a certain amount of mockery or at least intrigue, but coming from Ian it feels somewhat loaded.

Also with the way he's been going, if I was Ian I wouldn't want to bring up the topic of preppers/prepping too much since I can think of some certain jokes that people are going to make about the "I don't care if my wife does Onlyfans" guy lol.
