First of all, you can definitely tell that he doesn't have david doing the audio anymore, It's not too much worse, he might have a different sound person, but it's noticeably different. Second of all, I know how someone sounds on a microphone is not at all reflective of how they sound in real life or to themselves, but if this is the beginning stages of voice training, then I don't think Shammy has the voice at all to do it. The troons that do pull off convincing female voices usually have a higher voice to begin with, Shammy does not. It's just barely above "shitty joke falsetto" tier at the beginning, and drops off to barely noticeable about halfway through the vibrator ad.

Also, having a sex toy ad in your video as a youtuber isn't what i'm laughing at, plenty of youtubers do them and it's whatever, we all have to pay the bills somehow. It's the context of the complete furry vore masturbation breakdown followed by a sex toy ad that has me equal parts horrified and in stitches.

It's subtle enough to ignore, but I don't see a point to watching his reviews if his past colleague has made and conntinues to make better reviews that aren't word salads to begin with. So if not for the voice, it's certainly not worth watching if he's just exhausting his gibberish that's more eloquently said elsewhere.

And Stray? Really? Barely worth hearing this info from him when you can get it from several more youtubers or better yet, playing the game, if you're looking for a entertaining or even informative angle on it.

Not relevant to the entire experience, but something I've seen in colleges is this push for English papers to be simplified. None of this rambling or using long, eloquent words to get your point across. No, instead say what you mean to say in as little time as possible. It works really well. I can't help but bring it up when comparing someone like Shammy to his peers. I won't outright call him intelligent, he did troon out after all. But he's somewhat intelligent, so he wants to speak intelligently too. I doubt he's been trained on how to speak intelligently to an audience though. This makes his work come across as bloated, and its surprising to see him say something like: "I'm shocked this video is less than an hour long" when that should be the norm for this kind of work. I don't want to hear someone babble for an hour when there's only ten minutes of substance in there. Maybe if he actually put out twenty-minute long videos he wouldn't have to lean so heavily on his patreon. But I can't expect him to make intelligent decisions at this point in time.

His older videos really didn't feel that way, and the pacing was decent because you were constantly getting bounced around between him saying some incredibly pretentious shit, followed by caveman-tier jokes, and neither was too much . And then he put out the Elden Ring video which felt incredibly padded, and used a whole lot of words to not really say that much of actual value. I haven't watched the Stray video yet, but I really don't know how much you can say about a cat-themed walking simulator with pretty much no gameplay to speak of.

But then again, this really is a general videogame reviewer problem. You have retards like Joseph Anderson who take like six an a half hours to say "Yeah, Mario odyssey is pretty OK, but it's not a masterpiece because some of the levels really suck and the game doesn't reward skill at all.", or you have RagnaRox, whose content I do really like, but he really has to connect every mediocre mid 2000s horror game to some kind of societal and political issue and be pretentious as fuck about it. Or I don't know, you have fucking GGGmanlives, nigger is actually borderline retarded and yet all of his videos manage to be 35-40 minutes when talking about games that have probably two hours worth of actual gameplay mechanics.

Man, talking about videogames for a living sure must be hard if 95% of people who try it end up making garbage content.

Him not being able to comprehend the concept of his "content" being something that gets tiresome is probably the most brain dead thing possible. Every creator falls victim to this eventually. It's just that they tend to just truck along and carry new fans, or try to change their content to be more appealable. No one is safe from it, and the fact David STILL hasn't learned this continues to remind me of why we haven't COMPLETELY split the thread up.
But yeah all of the co-hosts (spare Mandy whose sole reason I stopped watching was due to stupid reasons) just sound like they are stuck on repeat. David tries and fails to be the main herd wrangler that Shammy used to be. Corbin is retarded incarnate. While Brendon is FAR from annoying, I can only be reminded about how he statistically should be under a bridge smoking crack so many times. And Ed's entire persona shattered once the Squizzy situation came out. And then there are the others who are so forgettable I forgot who they were (seriously, who was the girl who showed up like twice and is still regarded as a "regular"?). It is just an endless cycle of the same "not your average podcast" that has been done better a million times.
