There are plenty of movements, philosophies and beliefs that identify as one or the other wing, but truly are a mixture of both.

There are also certain aspects of each side, which are not automatically inclusive or exclusive of each other.

E.g. Right wing capitalists are quite frequently not remotely racist or homophobic, they just value people on personal wealth and are meritocratic.

When I hear someone like Kevvie say “fascism on the rise,” I could imagine a Trump-Esque group, but even that is not really fascism.
It has a potential to develop into fascism, but it’s more a nationalist movement with a heavy emphasis on capitalism.

That's because the vast majority of the "right wing" isn't fascist at all. Fascism is by its definition an extreme form of authoritarianism. It ultimately shares the same contempt for the individual as Communism. That said, it is somewhat more efficient than its "opposite" if only because Communism insists on absolute state control. A Communist will tell you what crops to grow even if they're wildly inappropriate and will obviously fail.

A fascist will tell you, basically, grow food, and leave the actual method of doing so up to the people who know how to do it.

Despite this, fascism has a disproportionately bad rap compared to Communism. They're both bad, but fascism is viewed as "ontologically evil" while commies, no matter what vile acts they commit, are somehow seen as well-intentioned (which they are not).

Also, arguably, fascism has sometimes "worked" in that it was at least better than what absolutely fucked-up state of affairs led to an authoritarian regime taking power, and aside from the incredibly destructive subset of fascists I'd call "Nazi-style" fascists, is generally a little better at devolving into some form of democracy when it finally fails, e.g. Chile, Spain.

I think the loosening definitions of fascism are deliberately tied into post-WWII sexual revolution thought. Bear with me.

The long piece from The New Yorker that detailed the pedophile foster parent program in Germany makes it explicit that the second generation after World War II blamed buttoned-up, repressed sexuality for the rise of Nazism. They went in the opposite direction, and there was a renaissance of sexuality studies that explicitly tried to normalize pedophilia and lots of other taboos on the grounds that repressing them created a pressure cooker for fascism to form and "punish" the people who openly expressed it. But the harms created by this anti-fascism that begins in the bedroom have not had a similar reckoning, and the scandals and devastation they've left in their wake have been covered up, to the point where anyone speaking up, whether it's foster kids who were molested or detransitioners who were sold a false cure, is accused of doing so for political reasons.

tl;dr fascism is a way of accusing "prudes" of a Freudian desire for genocide. But they will never face or admit to the harms that are a direct result of eliminating safeguards around sex in the public square. And they can't see how most people separate political and sexual thought and they don't have to be related unless you have a vested interest in smuggling them in.
