I hadn't been to this thread in a while, but, to reaffirm what I said before, I guess, is this, "Auto-biography" has really given the nerd more of a light.
Myself, i enjoyed his early shit, but i fit into that category, when the nerd content slowed due to the film, and then hearing about the film, I forgot about this guy. I had a bad feeling about things, and just my intuition led me to spend my viewing time elsewhere.

More what has become apparent due to this book, is that he had tard wranglers. Also, he INSISTED on HOLLYWOOD for his movie. He could not go from step A, to Step B, to... and so on. Fuck that, he had at least 100, "Films" under his belt by that time. Hollywood or nothing, fucker!

I feel, had he allowed his tard wranglers to be like, "Hey, nerd, not even that other NJ guy, who made Clerks, got into a hollywood film as quick as you. How about we make something closer to home..."
Reading excerpts from this book has shown me that James was all about, HOLLYWOOD OR NOTHING! Oh, he got Hollywood, and nothing out of it, for the most part, other than to say, "I filmed part of my movie in HOLLYWOOD". Big whoop if it's no good and nobody recalls it, and those that do, like myself, recal it as the crest to a wave when it all went downhill.

Nerd made money, and he still makes money, but, looking at Mike's content now, it is more apparent that he is THE nerd. I tuned out during the film stuff, and never really recovered in viewing his stuff, though i did find some gems here and there.

I agree with Bruno, this book, i also see it as something prior to his, "Retirement". He hates the AVGN part, I assume he already has enough $ banked away to support himself a while, so, he might as well say fuckit, and spend all his time with Rex Viper and his kids.

So one of the funnier AVGN-poop creators released a video today, nothing special but it got me thinking, since his... "book" shed the light of autism on Rolfe... how come we haven't heard about some weird ass stories from his meet 'n greet? Of course 90% of the engagement prolly is Autism deluxe from both fronts but some, SOME of 'um should've generated some cringe-stories?

I was going to get butthurt over what you said, but then I realized I did the same thing years ago for probably just about the same reasons.

I have a lot more faith in James however than Chris Chan. Expecting morality out of someone who has untreated autism is like thinking a sprinkler is the best job for painting, and does have a line that shouldn't be crossed, but James has more family and friends that can probably come around even if his career burns and crashes into a blazing dumpster fire of a mess. I hope that something will get him to scrape his knees and tell him the gravity of the situation, but as I've learned, you can't help a manchild who can't help himself, even if he falls out of the truck/off the bike of life. At least he didn't rape his mom.

We're all just awaiting the day for that last AVGN episode. Or if you want to give me optimism stickers, the day he returns with renewed enthusiasm to the AVGN. Which will never happen btw. Here's to that day, if it ever comes.

I think he understands the gravity of his situation, he's just incapable of making better decisions to get himself out of it. If this autobiography is doing anything, it is showing that James really is mentally-retarded on some level with him thinking that this was the stuff fans of his wanted to read about.

The lesson that he should get from this is that fame isn't everything, which while more common than water, is a necessary and fundamental lesson to learn, even for people as messed up and/or closeted like actors and celebrities. I can remember the first non-AVGN video of his I watched about him about him back in film school (I think it was "film school memories" or something) that ended with James answering what he wants out of film making, and that it was "to be known, to be somebody, to be liked for who he is". It's not a wrong thing, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong getting there or with what's being given. I know he won't, but in someway he should, at least a bit.

If he thinks this is what the fans want, I'm mixed with that. Part of me wants to feel sorry for him, another just wants to take it as it is like how a retarded person gifts you something and you just go along with it so you don't hurt their feelings but understand the gesture. I think he's doing this so that he can show how "human" he is to us and not be angry at him for mishandling Cinemassacre and AVGN, and while he's doing that wrong, the human outreaching part has gotten me to realize that he's really like a hurt kid in an adult's body just throwing up his hands and wanting to give up. Again, he's autistic, legally retarded, etc. etc. and without Mike and his friends to steer him, he's doing stuff like this. He really doesn't know any better.

All I really want to do regarding this is to see this wagon fire go the distance and wish James peace at a distance. There's honestly nothing anyone can do at this point about his career other than himself.
