I just really hope that when little Luna passes it's in her sleep, when her harpy of a mother isn't watching. .
On one hand, I hope Luna passes away with no one watching so that there is no invasive intervention.

But on the other hand, I WANT them, Robyn especially, to watch, and to suffer as they watch, because Luna has had to suffer all this time because of the selfish choices they made. But then I go to the potential for being resuscitated back to """life""" and nope that idea. Die in whatever passes for sleep Luna-Buna, please, and do it quickly, peacefully, and most of all, quietly.

And before Atlas gets old enough to actually understand what’s happening! Be a good big sister and avoid traumatizing your baby bro.

Clearly, she needs to explode in Robyn's arms.

I have seen autopsy photos of children with Luna's malady before that had suffered a cranial rupture resulting in death but I so deeply wonder what does that actively look like?

Does it come with no warning? Is it like a water baloon splattering with lots of fluid? A watermelon exploding with a more chunky and moist consistency? Or does one of her skull "seams" split open to allow a mere dribbling of cerebral and cystic fluid? I have to know...

Calm down, gorehound, that isn't going to happen.

Not a neurologist but if anything brain-related finishes her off it's much more likely to be the ICP finally smooshing what's left of her brain stem and her vital functions shutting down quickly as a result.

As @Thomas Eugene Paris has said before, however, she's much more likely to aspirate something or pick up some other resp infection and die that way. Ig it depends what fails first; the shunt or the already-minimal care they take when shoving giant chunks of food into Luna's gaping, dysphagic maw...

edit: smoothing smooshing

It's very unlikely (not impossible, but unlikely) that Luna's head will rupture. More then likely she'll aspirate something or the pressure will cause her brainstem to herniate.

There is a picture way back on this thread of a child's ruptured hydrocephalus head, the skin (and probably dura too) just tears and fluid comes out, and the head caves in. The child dies quickly, probably from severe and sudden cranial decompression and heavy bleeding.

Typically, people hydrocephalus at that level are also retaining fluid as a whole and while it can happen FAST, I've never seen it explode like a bomb going off. Your body makes an effort to maintain homeostasis and tries to push out the excess fluid, so they're usually very damp with areas of concentration at the seams of the skull. The skin tends to look almost like a stretchmark when it starts tearing. Blistering is not atypical at the site. Given that Luna is shunted, the shunt could become blocked and this could happen. The early signs of a blocked shunt are a change in mental status, which is really hard to track in Luna. I'd say Robyn would probably head to the ER or something else when she couldn't hold Luna either without getting a whiff of whatever is brewing in a clogged up shunt or can't hold her daughter without getting so much CSF on her it looks like she entered a wet teeshirt contest.

You know, normally, I'd say it's just inevitable Luna will die of dysphagia because of the feeding habits if they continue, but the woo stuff with the shunt might do it. Pure caustic "essential oils" loaded with staph and whatever else might be the game ender next week for all we know. Robyn takes one step forward by getting Luna out in the sun exposing her to the outside and gently building her immune systems and forty steps back doing dumb stuff.

Considering she puts flat out coconut oil in her eyes it'll probably be woo shit or aspiration.
Unsurprisingly, I don't believe in gambling, and a fool and their money are soon parted if they try to predict one of the million dumb ways Robyn will kill Luna. For all we know, it could be a little bundled up Luna covered in magical stones (tiara included) ziplining through the jungle on a "spiritual journey" after a crowdfunding to "cure" Luna. I don't think my heart rate would raise substantially in surprise at a number of seemingly farfetched deaths.

Does it look to you like her cranial sutures are fused?

Also, it's unlikely that her brain stem wouldn't herniate before anything resembling "cranial rupture" happened. Herniating through the foramen magnum is just following the path of least resistance.

I would wager that the vast majority of the "case reports" suggesting a spontaneous cranial rupture from hydrocephalus or multicystic encephalomalacia are either misrepresenting the facts or falsely attributing the mechanism of rupture.

I don't mean to be rude but this was not your best work.

To pay Devil's advocate, Luna's lungs have been surprisingly resilient so far. She's got through Covid fine (I know Robyn had never admitted they had it but I don't believe for one second they were miraculously spared. That time period where all four of them were sick around September of 2021 I'm positive was Covid), one bout of pneumonia, and is almost half way through this year's RSV/flu season. It makes no sense considering she's largely immobile and unable to cough as productively as a normal child, but here we are.

To be fair, though, she has less exposure to the outside world than a lot of other severely disabled children. She and Atlas are not in preschool, they don't go to daycare, they don't see a pediatrician. Their regular chiropractor appointments are first thing in the morning, and they wait outside. Robyn doesn't work outside the home. We've seen one instance of Atlas having a playdate with a "friend" but that occurred in the home rather than in a public place. It doesn't appear that they regularly visit with extended family or friends. They can do grocery delivery.

Really, the only way she might get exposed to an illness is if Glenn picks something up, but it seems like he usually goes to houses when the residents are not present. It's also possible they'll see relatives for the holidays and someone will be incubating something without knowing it.

It's really weird to think about how isolated the family are from the outside world. They've made a bubble and it's been effective at keeping Luna healthy so far.

That first video with atlas is great because it seems like he’s rudely imitating her and it’s so funny.
At first glance this looks like a cute giggly
moment. Our icky mama Robyn doesn’t have an eye for reality, that’s why she sucks at, well everything she puts on Instagram. Look at Atlas’ body language around Robyn in almost any photo where she’s holding him but not sticking her tit in his face. He is usually struggling to get away from her. She’s going to find it near impossible to hold him with one arm and her phone with the other for much longer.

Are they still doing the chiropractor visits? I thought Robyn just had the PT do it.

I think Glenn sees his parent more than he lets on on social media. They're both weirdly tight-lipped about their families, but we have had a few pictures of Atlas at his paternal grandparents' house.

Then why is he always bitching about people having the news on in their homes? But yeah Glenn and the therapists are the families biggest source of outside germs. Considering the murky nature of the PT's business and the type of clients she takes on it's a miracle she hasn't given both Luna and Atlas something like measles. I guess we'll see if the Ramirez's luck ever gives out.

Atlas is so cute. I have a family boy that age who will sleep the second he’s tired, no matter where. Sure makes nap time easy but you gotta watch the head drops!

The morning chiro is a thing of the past. Now it’s morning sultanas, or raisins, or whatever. The PT women are the danger if they actually treat anybody but Luna. RSV is wild this year-the aforementioned boy got it as well as some adult family members. I didn’t realize adults could get it but one who had it was diagnosed (and was older) and the baby, and everybody else just coughed and assumed.

You’d think Luna would have a cough assist but maybe those who could prescribe it would prefer a simple pneumonia? I’m not sure you’d ever know if Luna needed it or not anyway.
