Weird Dreams Thread

I can also fly, but I don't just Superman that shit, I just sort of jump up and don't come down.
Years ago, I had a dream I was some sort of X-Men like character who had limited flight and the ability to walk in mid air as if it was solid ground. It was a pain a neck to try to walk down stairs, though.

They evolved to dreams involving my car's brakes stop working while I'm driving, and then dreams where my car would catch on fire and blow up.
Any dream I have involving a car and its brakes usually involves the brakes not working when I back up out of a parking spot. I also have the occasional dream where an object appears out of nowhere and the only outcome is a collision or accident.

I fairly often have these dumb dreams where I'm just walking and talking with people I don't know in reality but in the dream they're colleagues.
I had one such dream the other night where I ultimately interacted with someone who was unfamiliar like we were best friends. When I joined him and asked what was going on, he told me the police officer that pulled right up to him wanted to question him as a potential rape suspect, but he had documentation to prove he was working on clearing the large farmland-like vacant lot we were talking in at the time the assault happened. After checking out the guy's paperwork, the police officer returned with no choice but to return the guy's paperwork, apologize, sigh in frustration over the wasted time questioning him, and leave without further incident.

I had weird dream where I was scrolling reddit and found a thread titled "what was the biggest mishap of your life" and after scrolling a while, I found a photo of myself as a child that my mother posted there. Reading through the comments revealed that 'she was young, and thought she knew what she wanted from life, but it all turned out to be a mistake'.

Thanks, brain; for some reason, I'm still sad about this weird shit, even tho I've woken up hours ago.

I "woke up" to see a nightmare leaning slightly over my bed and watching me. It looked like the partially rotten skeleton of a woman covered in glistening, jet-black sludge. The rotting skull had long dark hair hanging down and into my face, brushing it slightly. It had a faint glow coming from the back of its eye sockets. I held my arms up in front of my face to defend myself and it reached down to grab them. It felt like acid on my skin where it touched me. After shutting my eyes in terror, I felt and heard a sickening crack as the thing snapped and crushed my arms like toothpicks. Out of instinct I opened my eyes to see my destroyed arms covered with blood and shards of ultrawhite bone. I felt as horrified in the dream as I would have been in real life had I lost my arms. I thought, "this can't be real", and somehow forced myself to wake up.

My large black cat had been laying on my arms which were curled under it's body, and they had fallen asleep. Her tail was lightly wagging, brushing across my face.

I took a relatively short nap earlier today, and had this bizarre thing I'm not sure I can even refer to as a dream. It was less images and stuff, and more experiences. My entire existence down to an atomic level was reformed into some sort of glassy, liquid orbs, then I somehow reformed as I woke up.

Writing this dissertation is clearly melting my brain.

I've had multiple dreams throughout my life that are incredibly mundane at first glance. Just dreams of taking tests in classrooms I've never seen before, very specific conversations with people I've never met before about things I've never talked about, even posts I've never seen or read before on websites I've never visited. I'd have these dreams and wake up thinking these dreams were very uninteresting or even think that they would never happen in reality and forget about them for years. However, it isn't until I'm in the EXACT same situation that I dreamt about years ago that I remember them vividly and know for a fact I've experienced them before in my dreams. Hell, I even had a dream about reading a thread on this very site years before I even knew of this site's existence (it was the Russia vs Ukraine thread). Call it Deja Vu or whatever, but I know for a fact it isn't a feeling or emotion, it's like the exact memory pops in my head of the dream. I'd even stop during the event in question and go 'woah man, I've had a dream of this exact same scenario before' and would be able to point out every minute detail most people would miss. There would even be occasions where I predict some otherwise unremarkable event would occur just as it did in my dream, such as a bell ringing, someone dropping something or a song playing. Has anyone else had experiences like this? I swear to God every time this happens, the people around me either don't give a shit or think I'm being weird.

Anyone here ever take trazodone? My God, it gives me the most vivid, epic, absurd dreams. Borderline lucid. It's crazy too, because you'll wake up at the end of a dream because it was so fucked up, fall back asleep and immediately start up a new one like you switched out a DVD and popped a new one in. Crazy shit.

I had a dream that I was meeting up with an old flame. Had trouble finding her, but eventually found her managing some construction site. She was in this shitty half built building made out of wooden posts and plywood walls. Much of it was uncovered and got wind, rain, and sawdust inside it. She was up the wooden stairs and in the managers office, which was a room completely walled up and protected.

We started talking and flirting, and she said she was slowly dying of cancer. She started getting more and more frail, and I noticed she was in a wheelchair. I realized she was getting more and more sickly as she talked about her life and the cancer, and I realized this was a dream my mind was making up on the spot, so I left.

I had a big crush on her, so I came back to flirt with her more. She was stuffed in some wooden coffin with a bunch of weird metal locks on the front, which must have needed keys with the proper shape inserted into the holes. She was quickly dying of cancer and was trying to get relaxed in the coffin, but I wanted to talk to her one last time. There were a bunch of ripped shirtless construction workers in the room. We all wanted to see her again, and they told me I needed to help them bust the locks open with pickaxes, so I started helping them.

I'll try to one-up everyone here.
I had these 5 dreams that, while not that bizzare by themselves, are borderline creepy because they were *directly connected*. While dreaming in every dream (after the first) I realized this dream was linked to the one before, and after I woke up, I checked the details of the dreams and they lined up. I had these within a period of around one year, the latest being about 3 weeks ago

Brief description of the 5 dreams/nightmares:
1: Am walking on a path in the middle of a forest when suddenly a bear walks onto the path some distance in front of me. I try to run back on the path away from him, but he is quicker than me, so I try to run into the (thick) forest, perpendicular to the road. I get hurt running through the plants and trees. Eventually I come up to a gravel slope, incline of maybe 60 degrees. Behind me there is (this is important) one huuuuuuuuuuuuuge mountain, then several smaller mountains in front of it. I intentionally roll down the slope, get hurt even more. Bear is chasing closely after me this whole time, but when he seems me roll down the slope, he runs back into the forest. I run into a nearby village for help. Some guy agrees to drive me to a local hospital, but as we are driving on the road through a forest, the bear jumps the car. *Dream blacks out*

2: I am walking on the ridge of a mountain. for some reason there are densly forested parts on the ridge between parts of nothing (like a normal ridge). on my left I notice !!!a huuuuge mountain, with smaller mountains before it. On my right, far away, I can see a small village, a lake, and the same gravel slope (at this point I remember it is the same village). Whenever I walk through one of the densly forested parts of the ridge, I get more anxious as if something were chasing me. At some point I start running, dream cuts out when I walk into another forested part.

3: Me and my brother are on a train, running away from something. When I look out of the window I can see, again, the same village, with the huuuuge mountain and other mountains. I can vaguely see the gravel slope. Dream then randomly cuts forwards and they "got" my brother (idk who), I am on a motorcycle on a gas station, looking into the distance, I can see the huge mountain and the village a little, and I can also see the forest where the bear chased me.

4: I am walking in a pretty dark (literally, there is little light and the trees have very dark green leaves) forest. I am trying to leave asap because something is chasing me. I come next to a semi deserted path, to my side is a river and there is a clearing with a village on the other side but no bridge to cross it. I follow the path hoping to find a crossing. At some point, an irl friend approaches me and says (verbatim): "The source of the river is infected". I then look, and see some hole in the rock from where the river comes out of, and it is overgrown with orange/blue sponge. At some point I wake up

5 (weirdest one): I am on the same train as in dream 3 and I notice this huuuuge cathedral, at least as big as Taj Mahal, built next to this shitty random village (I didnt see the cathedral before). I get off the train on an unnamed stop and walk to the village. Behind the cathedral is a huuuuge mountain with smaller mountains before it. All the people there are dressed in traditional, pre-christian clothing (details omitted to protect my anonymity). Some villagers are just standing around doing nothing in particular, some are gathered around a bonfire (no one looked malicious or sinister). I pull out my phone to take a picture of the cathedral but the villagers look at me ugly so I put it away. I start to walk through the village towards the cathedral. The village itself is very bizzare but I dont wanna list every weird detail. When I am almost at the cathedral it is already nighttime, I cross a bridge over a gorge with a river, but there are bears on the other side. I 180 dip out of there at full speed, yelling something like "help! bears!" while sprinting. Villagers see me, hear me, but they react as if I were just calmly walking past (some kid said "hey its that guy from earlier"). Details get murky past this point. Eventually I arrive at a clearing, and sit down. It is daytime again. I glance to my left and far off I can see the railway, and further, a road with a gas station. In front of me is a river and on the other side I can recognize the deserted pathway from dream 4 (same river too). At some point, the same friend from dream 4 approaches me and says (verbatim). "I am so thirsty. I would drink from this river, but the source of the river is infected". I then look at the source of the river, and it is exactly 100% same as in dream 4. I then, while still dreaming, realize this is exactly like in dream 3+4, I get insanely creeped out, stand up to run away, but then I just wake up.

Here is a map I drew immediately after I woke up from dream 5. I drew it with a mouse in 20 mins so it is no master piece ofc. I can provide more details if people are interested but I do not think I omitted anything substantial. If I have another dream from the canon I will post an update.

This story will be a little personal but that's not that surprising coming from me I guess. Anyway here goes. A few years ago I lost some family members in a horrible accident. It was a very sad time of my life but it is important to say that I have never felt like I wanted to die or anything like that, not ever. I am generally a pretty happy person, even when I am sad.

After they passed though, I kept having these dreams.

I would be having a regular dream and all of a sudden they would appear in my dream. Sometimes they would look normal, like they did in life. Other times they would look bad. It is absolutely horrible to experience. I don't remember any interactions from the dreams beyond just random stuff we would talk about in life, mainly because they don't last very long after they appear. Here is why, and where it gets weird.

Every time I see them in a dream I always, ALWAYS eventually start hearing this wheezing, rasping noise in the dream. I didn't know what this awful sound was the first time this happened. Without fail I will eventually wake up to find that I have been shoving my pillow down onto my own face, and the noise I heard in my dream was my labored breathing and eventual suffocating noises from the real world. You know how sometimes you can hear a buzzing alarm in your dream shortly before you wake up? I would take a big deep breath and usually sit up in bed for an hour or so just feeling really creeped out. I remember idly thinking after waking up one day, maybe my phenomenon would be called something like "autosuicide" if it had ever been documented. I imagined reading about it in DSM books or other medical literature. Really fucking bizarre. But I wasn't so sad that I did not want to live...I can imagine it happening to someone like that, or the terminally ill, but not to me. It just doesn't make sense.

One other time, just a month ago, I saw them again in my dream. They walked up to me and I felt a crushing, sharp pain on my face. This immediately woke up and found that I had straight up hit myself pretty good square in the face during the dream. I was bleeding and it left a bad bruise. What the fuck.

For the record I have never sleepwalked in my life.

These dreams are so weird in their real life effects on me that literally every time I see them in a dream, I get scared in the dream and try to force myself to wake up. Usually it works. If I don't wake up, something bad always happens. This still happens to this day, almost 5 years later.

I had a dream I went to this new ice cream store, in this newly built on section of a strip mall in my town. The strip mall exists in real life, but the newly built section only existed in the dream. The new section was completely gray inside and out, because it wasn't painted like the old section.

I walked into the ice cream store, and it was this tiny, old looking room. Even though it was brand new, it was dirty with cobwebs in the upper corners and dust on the ground. The gray plain walls also caused it to look old. There was only a basic ice cream machine along the right wall, on a table. There were only two workers standing there, a young manager, and a young employee. I asked about the ice cream, and they were rude. I eventually paid for some basic chocolate ice cream, and they got it out of the machine by pulling a lever and dispensing it into a bowl.

I knew this business wasn't going to last, thinking that I could just make the ice cream myself without workers being rude to me. Now that I'm awake, I realize I can just buy ice cream from the store.

Had a very crazy dream last night where I was a part of the next mission to the moon. When we got there we found a old dilapidated church! Going inside we all discussed how anyone could’ve built something like this on the moon and what happened to them. Then I woke up.

Months ago I dreamed that I woke up at my moms old house. I went into he living room. There was a human cat sitting on the couch staring blankly ahead. The TV turned on and the words "meow" began scrolling across the screen like a marquee. I felt extreme anxiety like I somehow understood what was meant by each meow. Suddenly I hear a horrible colossal roar from outside, and a gigantic black tornado rips through the home. I wake up.

Craziness today: I am staying at my mom's and all of a sudden there is a flash flood and tornado warning out of nowhere. Severe winds and rains pick up spontaneously. I go in the living room and my mom's new little cat Max is sitting right where the cat in my dream was. He is wide eyed and scared. This is probably the first thunderstorm he has ever seen or heard. I sat down on the couch next to him and comforted him. He laid against my side and rubbed his head into my palm and began to purr. The storm reduced in intensity shortly afterward.

Remember the horror movie Subspecies? Well I dreamt that I was trapped in a mansion with Radu and all these cats. And Radu kept chasing me around and kept trying to make himself look attractive with spells until finally I admitted he wasn't too bad looking. But I still didn't want to be his vampire girlfriend so he got mad and took away all my Animal Crossing furniture. :cringe:

@Chiliarch I can't quote you because post so long. But have you ever heard of a cancelled Dreamcast game called Agartha? There's a prototype you can play. It's the April 18th 2001 build. It's cobbled together from a repaired files on a corrupted disc. The game takes place in a Romanian village between WW1 and WW2. The river has been contaminated by some strange virus due to an earthquake that opens up the gateway to the realm of Agartha. The dead arise and vomit the virus into the river and onto living people they come across.

There's a huge cathedral near the village. It's unfinished but you can explore most of it. There's also a ton of weird stuff underground. no bears. But the game was never completed so I don't know if there would have been any. In some of the prototype maps there is some weird mass or goo or something at the mouth of the river.

What's cool is that the graphics team went to Romania and based the village in the game on irl places. The village is based on a real village called Sapanta which has a famous cemetery. I don't know how close this is to your dream but maybe you might like to play around with the prototype.

Here's some info on the development of the game: https://en.sega-dreamcast-info-games-preservation.com/agartha-dreamcast-prototype-release

I've had a few over the years.

Onetime in college, I had a dream where I had a lot of false awakenings. I forgot how many it was-but I must have "woken up" at least five to a dozen times and yet was still asleep.

I've had a few others-onetime where I(no joke) went into a scary house and got bit by a vampire.

One time where I was somehow sent into the past, and then at the end of the dream, I realized it didn't make sense because my computer was made after the time of the dream(it would have been vaguely HS, my computer wasn't made till after I graduated). Then I woke up.

Had another dream-where I had a lot of false memories, stuff that felt real but I know did not happen.

I think...I've had a dream where an immediate family member has died(all of them) at least once in my lifetime.

I've actually had "dream stories" where a set of events, theme and imagery, progresses through multiple nights. Sometimes non continuously(that is not one day after another).

I find these really annoying. Especially if it's waking up to do something I don't even want to do and then I have to do it again. And then actually wake up and have to do the dumb thing I don't want to do, and feel like I got no sleep because I spent most of the night waking up to do whatever it is I didn't want to do.

One of the weirder recursive dreams is realizing I'm in a dream while in a dream, then actually waking up and talking to dream people about the dream I just had, then realizing it's just another dream.

Fairly recently I had a few in a row where I actually asked one of the dream people whether they knew they were a figment of my imagination or whether it felt to them like they were real. The first time, they just stared at me blankly and then went on with the previous conversation.

I can't remember the others other than that one literally just called me a fucking idiot. I got the impression another asked me something like how do you know you're not just in my dream, but the language was somehow blurry and I can't remember the actual words.

The whole thing had a Machine Elves feel to it, even though I hadn't done anything weird to earn it.
