Megathread FtM Transgender / Trans-Masculine / Non-Binary / SeaHorse Pregnancy Community - The mpreg thread.

A little off topic but…Since when is curly hair a black thing? I have curly hair, you have a Brillo pad on your head my melanated friend, we are not the same. Their hyper focus on their hair and the ‘racism’ surrounding it is so bizarre to me, especially considering everything from the language they use, product they fry it with, to the weaves they endure are all an attempt to make it resemble another ethnic group’s. And I’ve lived in the west a long time, I’ve yet to see the mythical white person committing micro aggressions by sticking their mitts into a black person’s hair without permission. I have however, had black people touch my hair without asking because they want to see how soft it is. The whole topic is so…bizarre.

Also the burden of proof is on you m’lady. You can’t show me a pic of a mildly annoyed Walmart employee and claim that they were racist. You can snap a photo but can’t take a video? Was it so hurtful that you can’t repeat it? Smells like bullshit.

Kaydenx posted that today was "Trans Parent's Day" nothing is showcasing it at all except the seahorse hugbox this year. It began in 2009 because the trans community stated that mother's and father's day was anti trans.

Of course the guy who screwed his kids out of doing things by refusing to get them birth certificates and going to other countries to get himself put wrong on them and remove gender markers would be an unschooler.

Highlights from the FAQ:
1670803458111.png

It is interesting that this is one of the first things discussed in the FAQ. Many of these FTM people do discuss AIDs and HIV. Makes you wonder why there is a higher prevalence for them. They also completely ignore that children can be born HIV positive.
"By the time of 2 years of age, the mortality rate for children infected with HIV is 52.5% (children without HIV are only 7.5%). According to some HIV experts, if an infected child does not receive antiretroviral treatment early, it is unlikely to live until the age of 1."
"Since all infants born to HIV-infected mothers have a positive antibody test at birth because of the passive transfer of the HIV antibody across the placenta, virological testing is used to confirm the diagnosis."
There really is not much info on US numbers since most people are not actively looking to have children while HIV/AIDs positive.

They also give this advice on how to navigate safety as a transgender pregnant man.
1670804947280.png

Since an anecdotal study of ONE man stated there was no effect of HRT it must be more true then primary research.

That’s fucking grim. I’m sorry, but if you have HIV you should really give having kids a second thought, it’s pretty damn selfish. That being said, do FTMs have higher infection rates than lesbians? I was under the impression that lesbians have a relatively low infection rate as compared to their male counterparts. Then again I suppose if they’re getting knocked up they’re probably not in that demographic to start with. Promiscuity as an extension of self harm perhaps?

Also ‘colonialism’. Yeah, as someone who’s country and very existence is the result of hundreds of years of various flavors of colonialism, you can fuck right off with that weird patronizing BS. Nobody cares.

Reading that statistic at face-value, I would assume that it involves the recorded survival statistics of every infant born HIV+ globally. Given the standard and capacity of medical care in a place like the USA, I would assume that the survival rate in the USA is much better.
Obviously being born with HIV is dangerous but the mortality rate can't actually be that high in the developed West..can it..?

Many of these FTM people do discuss AIDs and HIV. Makes you wonder why there is a higher prevalence for them.
Do they have higher prevalence? Going to go try to find out. But my preliminary bet is "probably not...if they do, then it is closer to straight women's rate than it is to gay men's." Guessing they like to talk about it a lot and gain access to PReP as part of their larp, but that they aren't having enough sex with enough "MSM" to actually raise their rates.

Let's see if I am right.

First result- this is from 2008 so possibly outdated.

Comprehensive searches of the US-based HIV behavioral prevention literature identified 29 studies focusing on male-to-female (MTF) transgender women; five of these studies also reported data on female-to-male (FTM) transgender men. Using meta-analytic approaches, prevalence rates were estimated by synthesizing weighted means. Meta-analytic findings indicated that 27.7% (95% confidence interval [CI], 24.8-30.6%) of MTFs tested positive for HIV infection (four studies), while 11.8% (95% CI, 10.5-13.2%) of MTFs self-reported being HIV-seropositive (18 studies). Higher HIV infection rates were found among African-American MTFs regardless of assessment method (56.3% test result; 30.8% self-report). Large percentages of MTFs (range, 27-48%) reported engaging in risky behaviors (e.g., unprotected receptive anal intercourse, multiple casual partners, sex work). Prevalence rates of HIV and risk behaviors were low among FTMs.

Five studies reported HIV prevalence rates for FTM transgender men (see Table 1 ). In four studies where respondents self-reported their HIV serostatus, prevalence rates ranged from 0% (in three studies) to 3% (in one study). The only study providing HIV tests to FTMs reported a 2% prevalence rate of HIV infection (Clements-Nolle et al. 2001a). HIV incidence rates for FTMs have not been reported in the literature.

Meanwhile:

MSM are disproportionately at risk for HIV infection. In the United States, the estimated lifetime risk for HIV infection among MSM is one in six, compared with heterosexual men at one in 524 and heterosexual women at one in 253 (191). These disparities are further exacerbated by race and ethnicity, with African American/Black and Hispanic/Latino MSM having a one in two and a one in four lifetime risk for HIV infection, respectively.

So 3% for Gaydens vs at least 16% for plain gays.
