I got news for you guys.
1) Thank the supreme court and the EPA for gutting your 4th amendment rights. Cops can monitor you on your own property "under certain circumstances" and are also allowed to search for evidence of you poaching or other environmental crimes without a warrant.
2) In parts of TX (At least where I responded), once a first responder is called to the location, you don't get to tell them to fuck off.
We had a situation when I first started responding where a cop dragged a elderly person off after judo flipping and headlocking them (VFD gets sued if they trip and falls) because they was trying to "help" put a fire out with a garden hose. I protested and PD would never show up if I was first on scene to anything after that.
Now the question for me here is did they call 911 to that specific house? If not, this fella ought to go to jail.
However, in the instant case, it's more helpful and truthful to see this one as a lawfully armed citizen defending their life and property against what they reasonably perceive as a threat. Dean likely thought she was a burglar, and Jefferson likely thought HE was a burglar. It's likely there was no malice on either side. Both had the right of armed self-defense. Especially in Texas. Younger versions of those guys got chased out of teaching as a profession in the early 2000's, and were replaced with more and more women who simply wanted to "do good". The schools are way worse as a result.

What really killed US education was the:
1) Teaching to the (perpetually lowering) standardized test
2)Zero tolerance
3)No child left behind - Not everyone ought to go to college. Some fellas ought to just pick trash or load sixteen tons man....
4) Atmosphere - My school was basically a prison. Metal detectors everywhere, metal bars in the windows to prevent people from leaving, K-9 and SRO searching your bags monthly... mind you this was elementary. That can't be good for the psyche of kids.

Talked another student out of shooting up the middle school. Kid had emotional trauma from jocks (?) bullying. He'd gotten his father's beretta and an extra mag, was going to try and shoot up the admin staff (who he blamed) during a school performance since he worked the sound for the theatre and was right behind them. In hindsight, I should've let him and laughed at the admins bleeding out.

Freshman year, tall athletic girl (6'3") didn't join the basketball team. Basketball girls/coach weren't happy about it so during the class on basketball, she had an "accident" where she "ran into" (read: They slammed her head into repeatedly) the sharp corner of the wall in the gym near the water fountain far outside of the camera view. Sliced a huge gash above her temple and down the side of her face. Everyone sat around twiddling their fingers.... Nobody saw anything because they were outside (despite the screaming). Got suspended because "you don't know health and safety" because I got covered in blood trying to guide someone who couldn't see. Think she had 12+ stitches from that. I hope she didn't kill herself because she had major self-esteem issues by graduation.
