The problem with Mauler and his friends is the same as MovieBob (ironic again). These men are worthless, insecure. They have spent most of their lives just being mindless coomsumers to major pop culture product after major pop culture product that they, like Bob, have nothing to show for it. They desperately want their mindless goyslop to be seen as high art in order for them to validate their existence and feel that they are part of something greater. However, not everything is art. I love westerns but for every Lonesome Dove there is hundreds of generic disposable western stories that are just made to entertain and make a quick buck. Same can be said about comics and video games in the past. They were just either power fantasies for young men or stuff made on the fly to make a quick buck. The creators of these products weren't looking to make Faust or The Divine Comedy. I mean, Thor fighting the hyper evolved wolfman isn't high art but damn if it isn't entertaining.
However, that doesn't mean they can't be enjoyed. I would say that most of the stuff I watch, play and read aren't art but they are entertaining. Which is fine. Sometimes I just want something dumb and fun to watch, play and read to unwind from the day. If I wanted to enjoy art I would grab a Fyodor Dostoevsky or Ernest Hemingway book from my bookshelf.

I enjoyed his content at the start but as more time passes the more he thinks of himself as some sort of authority on movie criticism and not some rando fag on the internet shit talking star wars and cape shit. Doesn't help with the fact that he genuinely seems to think there is no other way to judge a movie or games quality other than how objectively consistent it is, not that he even follows his own standards like with GOW, sperging out on ATLAB or that mediocre netflix show. Also I don't think Rags even plays or watches anything he just sucks maulers dick and throws out annoying insults

Mauler had some good videos and there was decent content there, but his insistence to meme the length of his content/show, the company he keeps and general spergery have killed any quality that existed.

This synth shit is hilarious. Synth is just some guy who gives you his opinions on a game, without holding himself back to check every word and dot every I for fear of death by a thousand video essays. Internet used to be like that, people were more sincere and less concerned about being the focus of next weeks shit-fest. I find the guys videos refreshing.

The mauler thing isn't even about the quality however, it's just about mauler getting triggered and hating the guy because of GOW and the offence he takes in place of his degen friends. I'm not overly sensitive about these things but the video and the podcast he did on snyth are actually vile. It's 99% personal attacks on the guy, even the title, it's explicitly about trying to hurt the guy with the help of his fanbase. It's even more potent because it's against the kind of guy that it's now culturally encouraged to shit on. At least give the guy a chance to talk to you if you go out of your way to fuck him like this.

We can argue about the status of games as a form of art or not.

As a lifelong gamer, and someone who has been involved in development in the past. The "games as art" and "games need to grow up" undercurrents of the late 2000's and early 2010's have been a disaster for the medium and culture in general. Combine that with the woke movement and it's just hell.

The original GoW games were the poster child of the 2000's excess. Big, loud, violent and with a liberal use of titties. The prototype of what the AAA was becoming. I'm not surprised that it was a prime candidate for subversion.

This is mainly driven by a bunch a weak insecure people that got one too many side-eyes by the hot chick at the party when they said "I work with videogames". Mauler&Co come from the same crop.

Not that there's anything wrong with doing that, but there's a reason why people like Drinker are wildly successful and can even afford to interview some C-level celebrities while EFAP is kind of a niche thing.

Drinker has been playing GoWR by the way, but haven't really checked the videos or the comments, it would be interesting if things heat up on that front.

-Nintendo Gamecube stuff
-Scary walking simulators (Amnesia or shit like that)
Also he did play the classic GoW games leading to the release to GoWR but it wasn't clear if he was a fan previously or not.

Funnily enough, Rags is supposed to be the gamer of the group but I've never hear of him playing anything that wasn't a competitive shooter. The EFAP for Doom Eternal was super shitty as well, I remember somebody did a response video.
