It all comes down to definitions. I personally would limit use of the word Nazi to actual members of the NSDAP, and really generally limit it at as a disparaging term to the few really bad actors.
Most who fought on the German side did so with very good intentions, see Ernst Nolte, and many other works besides.
In the contemporary, Nazi now means everything from Germans who were not convinced party members to the dissident, ethnonationalist right, and has even been used to disparage the likes of Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro.
In spit of reservations or a general apathy to Hitler that one may have, I do think any dissident right perspective has to have some sympathy for the perspective of Nazi Germany, in relation to matters such as International Jewry and finance, bolshevism and many other matters.
