Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is one of my favorite anime movies. Over the past couple years I've made it somewhat of a tradition to watch it every December around this time.
It's basically a Christmas movie, even in its themes. Reminds me of Groundhog Day a little bit.
What are some other wintercore stories?

Sorry to /r/ but does anyone have soul-crushing tragic manga? When I went looking for this online every corner recommended me Punpun and I read it and felt it was overrated. I read Flowers of Evil (better than Punpun) need something that will make me miserable for days after finishing it. Read other Shuzo Oshimi stuff already. I really liked Kasane.
No longer human is pretty good from Junji Ito. It's an adaptation of a book with the same name and the og work could be considered the grandfather of Japanese depression stories.

Anyone got any good manga recommendations? I'm basically waiting for Dungeon Meshi to end.
The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins - relatively new manga (only has 5 chapters as of writing) about a family who wakes up from a coma and can't remember anything about their former lives. Goes in an interesting place.
ELDEN RING: The Road to the Erdtree - Elden Ring but Its a Gag Manga. Currently up to Godrick as of writing this.
The Voynich Hotel - I know this isn't the first time I'm shilling this manga in this thread but please go read it. It's kind of hard to describe without spoiling. A guy ends up on a hotel with a bunch of fucking weirdos and hijinks ensues. Lots of absurd dark humor all around.
MURCIÉLAGO - Hellsing but they replaced Allucard with a lesbian who fights with vibrators.
Helck - Gigachad goes to the demon world to try to become demon king, goes off the rails from there. Currently my favorite manga that I'm reading.
Totsukuni no Shoujo - Once You Go Black You Cant Go Back. Very good manga based on an Irish(?) folktale.
Sousou no Frieren - Not very far into this this manga, but I'm very much enjoying it. The hero's party already won and the main mage is just going around the world as the rest of the party slowly gets old.

Could someone please recommend me some horror/psychological anime with that "lonely, empty village/town" vibe? Something exactly like shiki, higurashi or another. I generally prefer older anime but newer is also fine.

Youve probably already been told this. But I think Steel Ball Run is worth the read. A really good horseback race story. I took my time with it and it was amazing. The characters, the fights and the plot are all 10/10. It truly is a wonderful read, I'd say it deserves a good anime adap but I dont think theres a studio that can animate a 1,000 horses running on screen. It might never get an anime because of it, so people wont give it a chance. And thats unfair. So if it stays as a manga, thats fine. In which case all the more reason you should give it a read.

I should also tell you its 26 volumes long. I feel thats reasonably long enough. Not too short but not too long.

I have three.
Tonikawa Kawaii- it's cute seeing these two newly weds stumble around eachother. Also Hata (the author), absolute troll.

Spy x Family- its incredible, the art, the story, the Yor Cruise Ship Arc, love every second of this cold War Spy family thrill ride.

Goblin Slayer- If you like DnD and aren't afraid of a brutal world and a broken man just trying to get by as he goes through his exposure therapy sessions on the daily (slaying goblins), then this is for you.

They'll just make most/all the horses CGI. You thought the CGI in the Part 6 anime was weird, just you wait.

I second the recommendation

Ah for suffering kino there is one that I forgot: The children's Crusade by Usamaru Furuya (I consideer him a genius at manga)

I
Finally. About damn time. Will he finally be an adult now?
actually have some confidence with this one, as much as character writing seemingly went downhill over the years for Pokémon I feel like this still has potential. If these new characters are given the same treatment that team rocket and the main girls have been getting than this could be great, if they are given the treatment of every other companion and written so hard into a trope it can suck.

11 more episodes next year and then Ash is officially retired as the protagonist of Pokémon.
They'll be begging to bring Ash and Pikachu back by the end of the year. I'd love to be wrong and kids will still happily tune in and the ratings will roughly be the same as before, but there's kind of a reason the Ash-less side-stories are relegated to OVAs/specials and tend to be short.

There are already other Pokemon anime but nobody watches them since, unless you're a massive autist, the only reason to watch Pokemon is nostalgia.
I'm convinced Ash will just become a Professor or some shit, and I really hope they'll make a "canon" love interest solely due to the gallon of salt.

If they really wanted to bait people with pokemon nostalgia I'm surprised they haven't tried to adapt this.

then again I think there's only a few handful of people who still care about adventures/special.
