I remember doing this with my friends one time. Basically, this game asks and answers a simple question: how do video game stories change when the main character meets their fate in a very un-theatrical way, just like in real life? To play the bad ending game, play any story-driven game on the hardest difficulty. If you die even once (and you probably will), then that death is how the game really ends. Then, think a bit about how this death affected the story for better or for worse.

Examples:

Half life ends when gordon slips off a lift and gets ground up in that underwater crusher thing. Everyone dies.

Gta v ends when michael gets into a brutal 6 car pileup on his way to work and some faggot drives his car into the debris and it all explodes. Franklin is stuck working at the car lot forever, trevor still thinks mike was dead from forever ago so nothing really changes with him, but mike still gets cucked by his wife even from beyond the grave.

Red Faction ends when your character has to escape in a submarine but the submarine explodes for no reason as it makes contact with the water so he's just stuck there in the cave until he dies to death. The red faction movement is over just like that and everyone just goes back to work again like nothing happened. It was fun while it lasted i guess.

Super Mario Galaxy: Mario manages to collect several stars but gets a random heart attack during a speedy comet mission, bowser rules the galaxy for eternity

Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning is killed by the Pulse Fal'Cie before even becoming a L'Cie. The Fal'Cie is destroyed and the only remaining L'Cie is Fang who is unable to kill Orphan on her own. Everyone lives happily ever after because the Fal'Cie suicide is now impossible

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: You escape being executed by the headsman, manage to elude a world-eating dragon, warn the nearby village of the dangers awaiting them, make it to Whiterun to warn the jarl too because the guy that helped you escape is too lazy, go dungeon-crawling to find an ancient stone, kill your very first dragon and realize you're the ancient hero the songs are about, climb the steps up to High Hrothgar and learn you're the only one who can save the world from total destruction...

only to get mauled to death by a few wolves on the road.

Downhill domination : famous british mountain biker dies at last leg of multi track tournament, last moments are screaming as he falls several hundred feet off a cliff.

Left 4 Dead: After a brilliant maneuver to climb down the side of a building, Francis trips on the sidewalk and dies!

Hackers Vs Banksters: Crowgirl becomes a shut-in by eating meals like a healthy person, Tankboy gets triggered by a show with abusive mothers or blood and dies of a heart attack, Taylor "Sharp-Fingered Legless Tranny" Santos gets replaced by a Temporary Foreign Worker and you forget about Frederick "Reliable Negro" Jones because he serves virtually no importance to the plot.

Or you close the game and delete it from your computer the second you realize you wasted time and megabytes installing and playing this god awful "game".

The only good ending is not to play.

Dark Souls:

The Chosen Undead's game somehow gets corrupted so he can't progress any further into the game no matter how hard he/she tries.

Lordan eventually enters the Age of Dark. Which happens eventually no matter what anyway. So... Yay?

Dark Souls 2: The Bearer of the Curse could eventually become a powerful being on par with the Chosen Undead after fighting foes like the Burnt Ivory King, the Fume Knight, and Nashandra. Before he can reach the three old fire keepers, he decided to fight the weird monsters in the grass on to get ganged. Though he could come back, the bridge is somehow destroyed, thus keeping him trapped with the small creatures and a nearby ogre.

Borderlands 2:

You bleed out from being shot, and Jack kills everyone in Sanctuary.
