Bad webcomics

Yeah, the art style hasn't improved... pretty much at all, really. Seriously, the obsession with tits it the only even remotely constant about the comic.

What's worse; I can't remember where I last dropped the comic, so I'm going to need to go over the entire damn thing again to figure out where the hell I was. Yay.

At least the Webcomic Relief's old review on the comic is still accurate up to a point...
remember looking at it for the porn, didnt found ant forgot about it

Found another old webcomic from the past, known as Vegan Artbook. Seen it mentioned on this site a few times; it's basically a vegan propaganda webcomic that reads like a PETA manual, written by some batshit woman(?) named Priya "Yerdian" Cynthia Kishna, who despite being vegan, doesn't seem to even know what grass even is. Basically, it's a shitty power fantasy where "Yeridan's" little group of Mary Sues run around and beat up/murder "carnists" - her term for omnivores - for the heinous crime of not being vegans; highlights include throwing families into meat grinders for eating meat, murdering farmers for funsies, and routinely beating up people - oftentimes to the point of death - for simply saying/thinking something negative about vegans.

Even "funnier"; apparently, the "morally pure" vegans are in-league with Satan. No, seriously; two of the allies the vegan main characters have are Sterk - a demon who came to Earth with the explicit purpose of committing complete genocide on humanity - and Raziel - a "half-angel" who originally came to Earth to keep mankind safe, but decided to become a fallen angel and join Sterk after seeing how the "meat eaters were destroying everything"... so she decided to go ahead and wipe out most of humanity for the sake of veganism.

Apparently, the comic still has a decent chunk of followers, most of whom are as nutty as Yeridan; aside from cheering the vegans on when they kill people, there's a not insignificant portion of people that may-or-may-not support Yeridan's beliefs that IRL meat-eaters should be mass-raped - at the very least, there's been plenty of suspect shit from her fans.

Yeah, not the sanest group of people.

Here's a few posts for you guys:

If I may raise my own example of a bad webcomic, I offer Lore Olympus. Genuinely one of the worst reimaginings of Greek mythos I've seen, both visually and in writing.

This is supposed to be Eris, by the way.

This is the kind of online insanity I miss, crazy weirdos with bizarre fringe beliefs who exist only on their own little corner of the internet, unnoticed by anyone except their small group of likeminded fans. Like the Time Cube guy, or Chris-Chan's early days. There's just something so pure and fascinating about finding people like this in the wild. You almost never encounter them IRL, but there they are, totally nuts and absolutely convinced that they're attuned to some hidden knowledge and everyone else is wrong. These days the weirdos get mainstream exposure on social media, and governments and corporations will gladly screw over the rest of society to appease them.

The author made Persephone an absolute retard and Zeus a cool guy.

Say, didn't Lore Olympus start out as a webcomic on Tumblr to begin with?
It wouldn't surprise me, since it reminds me of the ugly ass woke art style used on that PoS site.

Tumblr Trogs really need to leave world mythology alone.

No new posts for a while, gonna bring back another old horror you guys: Kevin and Kell, a furry webcomic that tries to come across as "deep" and shit, but just ends up being ridiculous. It's sorta similar to that Beastars anime, where predator and prey furries live in the same world with one another and there's a lot of talks about "predator/prey" relations and stuff like that; of course, it wouldn't be a furry story without everything being catered to fetishes, so naturally the entire plot gets sideswiped in favor of vorephilia, gore, digestion, and other shit that I don't even want to remember right now. Throw in the usual furry shit of "humans are infinitely worse than the morally better furries!!!1!" for some retarded-ass reason, and I think it deserves the title of "bad webcomic".

What do you guys think?

Suffer not the furry to live and all, but got anything solid? I remember giving Kevin and Kell a look back in the day and it was on the level of a newspaper comic for how edgey it was. I just found the characters boring. Of course that was long before CURRENT YEAR so maybe now everyone is a antifa trans latinx.

My list of worst online comics:

Questionable Content: It used to be good! It was a slightly comical slice of life comic with a small cast living mundane lives in a world with AI. Now its "How many LBGTAQHHFGRTSKFUWTFBBQ types can I cram in while ignoring the original cast?" comic. Jesus fuck, it went off the rails. Hilariously, he wrote a short sci-fi comic online years ago that was actually great aside from the art, that told a great story. I guess he blew his entire creativity load on that one.

Leasticoulddo: Same thing, another comic that was once worth checking into occasionally to catch up as the cast was funny and the story lines were relatable. But now, it's all political bullshit and all the fun side cast has been relegated to the dumpster for the most part. Added bonus: The same idiots write a fantasy comic called LFG that was amazing for a while, but gone so far off the path the last time I read it I wasn't even sure what the fuck was going on anymore.

CAD: The only, and I mean ONLY thing he does well is his sci-fi story. The rest is holy fuck awful. Although the 'gamer group' comics that show up once in a while are a fun treat since as a former hardcore D&D player, I've been down all those storylines before and can relate.

Avas Demons: This for me is a strange one. I love the concept. I actually dig the art. But for christs sake, MOVE THE STORY ALONG. Its been going on for-fucking-ever, and the story has advanced by about 3 days. There is something to be said about a good story that isn't fast paced, but this one has been dragging on for so long it's just a bore.

My current must check up on:

Kill Six Billion Demons. The art has done nothing but get better, the story is amazing, and it's finally reaching it's final story arc after years of build up. You might bitch about the cast all being part of the alphabet, but whatever. The overall story is what matters, and it's fucking amazing.

Uhhh.... Yah. That's all I got. It's kinda sad how awful online comics have gotten the past decade or so.

Holy shit I used to see ads of Lore Olympus alot on YouTube. It reminded me of Tumblr because of the art style

I remain convinced Mike Krahulik has interns drawing Penny Arcade now. The art is just horrendously off-model and doesn't look like his previous style at all.

His style has been getting worse for the past two decades. I don't think his art has ever improved. Penny Arcade died when they cucked about Dick Wolves, every day since then has been them.

I remember when he got busted for tracing and then just photoshop-rerendering backgrounds and objects.

honestly I don't care. I haven't read PA for years, and it was never for the art. So if he's gone full Jim Davis, ok. But I imagine if you bring this up Mike would have a wonderful cucked out meltdown.

I think I've heard Jim Davis interviewed and he basically just openly admits he sold out for the maximum amount of money possible, took every merch deal, squeezed every penny out of that retarded orange cat he could.

Now I admire Bill Watterson as basically a saint among men who absolutely refused to sell out and never authorized even a penny in merch. He's basically the Alan Moore of the comic strip (well other than not being a huge dick). But I can hardly blame someone for going Jim Davis. And if you are going to sell out, you should sell out big. And he sold out huge.

Here's a really bad one, Pokemon Pebble Version is or was one of the very last remaining relics of the Bob and George era of internet webcomics. It ended back in July, having spent almost 20 YEARS effectively telling a, ahem, "wackier" version of Pokemon Ruby and saphire. The comic moved as a glacial pace, despite being updated multiple times a week because the author would frequently stop to tell unfunny jokes. Wecomics aren't the only thing he's done though oh no, over the years the author has gone on to do other things, such as a abysmal steam game about ninjas washing cars, or some shit.

Agreed. Somehow I still read it, mostly because I've been reading it since probably 2007 or so, but it's just habit rather than real interest. Alice Grove was short but good, yeah. Too bad his main interest in QC is figuring out which character isn't gay yet.
I honestly don't know why I'm still reading it, but then again, all the webcomics I read are shit I read out of habit and morbid fascination for how bad it'll go. I guess I'm a sucker for bad webcomics.
Cases in point: I still read Dumbing of Age, David Willis' continuation of Shortpacked and the Walkyverse, an utterly terrible college webcomic that hasn't been funny, ever. I do not know why I read the entire It's Walky and Shortpacked shit, either. Bored and easily roped into a mindset of "might as well continue reading it".
Worse, I somehow got into this with Misfile, a seriously bad webcomic about a filing error in Heaven resulting in a teenager switching gender. It's a whole package of bad shit, nonsensical plot, shitty teenage romance crap, horrible art with zero improvement over literal decades, and tarded car racing randomly thrown in. Mercifully that comic actually ended at some point, but it's being continued of sorts with a similarly terrible story set in a high-school in hell. The author, for being a 40 year old man, is wayyyy too fascinated with teenage romance. And his oversexed manga drawing style doesn't make it better.
Yeah I have no excuses.
The one webcomic I actually read because I like it is Gunnerkrigg Court.

I respect Jim Davis' hustle and honesty. He openly admits he doesn't draw or even write most Garfield comics anymore. He has a couple writers who do the daily strips and plays creator-editor (and admittedly drives/OKs when there are plot changes, like Jon and Liz getting... engaged I think was the last deveopment). I can't be mad. He doesn't make out any artistic scruples and didn't just allow the Garfield Minus Garfield book but wrote the introduction. He's not a hypocrite, doesn't inject politics into his work.
I can't be mad, and think anyone who gets angry about Garfield in TYOL 2022 is a faggot who is either huffing their own farts, or trying to be cool.

Watterson I feel for because he made great work, stopped while everyone was still having fun, and I generally agree with his sentiments about the degradation of entertainment. But I also feel like you can't unbrainwash billions of people. The best you can do is keep doing your own part.
And he's sort of a dick, but a) no one is as big of a dick as Moore, its simply not possible. and b) he is smart enough to keep his dickery our of the public arena.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go make posts calling some trannies who are starving alpacas "Faggot" a bunch of times.
