Sony hate thread

The duke is a descendant of the Sidewinder pc gamepad. Other than sharing button letters there isn't a thing that connects the DC pad to it

The Spider-Man convo a few pages back was great. Is there another thread on this site that talks about Spidey overall? Movie wise the Sam Raimi movies were great (Even 3, if heavily flawed), Amazing 1 bad, Amazing 2 beyond terrible, Spider-Verse okay, and I couldn't bother to watch the others. Just don't have the charm.

...which is based on:

The big Xbox logo in the middle and the start + back buttons on the bottom of the controller help it resemble a Dreamcast controller. The Xbox controller is clearly designed after a Dreamcast controller.

imo the dreamcast controller wins because it's design feels more focused. xbox always kinda felt "we want to have X, we want to have Y, but also want to be different enough just to be different!"
White and black buttons as opposed to C and Z just to have a 6 button controller that's totally not another layout clone of the 6-button pad.

I really liked the VMU screen on the controller, even if it was totally useless. It was fun to see whatever random stuff would be displayed in-game, it added personality to the experience.

I guess the closest modern thing we have to that are PC games that work with RGB components, but even that's rare and only generally work with whatever brand threw money at them

Timed exclusivity is as close as they get to potential system sellers, like with FF16.
This and FFVII Rebirth are literally the only reasons why I would buy a PS5, and I already know that they'll both be on the PC eventually. Here's to hoping that Rebirth will only be locked down on the PS5 for six months just like FF16...

I loved the dreamcast as any other fellow, but you guys are rosetinting its controller too much. Yes the VMU was ace, specially docked alongside a secondary rumble pack, however the things would eat through batteries and I had to keep a stack of spares around. The crosspad was borderline useless due to its bricky design (not their fault though, back then nintendo held a dpad copyright) and the shoulder triggers offered excessive travel for my taste. At least they came in a platitude of different colors and thus were collectable.

A controller with a screen, you say?

I meant it more from an ergonomics standpoint, even if the individual parts were technically meh on it's own, it properly did what it set out to do. a second generation most likely would've fixed those, but it didn't live long enough for that.

reminds me, is there a white steam deck?

Even if that's totally true, I am 100% certain any new models will either get pushed back, or they'll fail to meet their numbers, considering just how far behind the whole industry fell due to everyone's favorite world event. Didn't Nintendo even straight up say earlier in the year that no Switch Pro is on the horizon? And how many people are still on 8th gen hardware? If I were Sony, I wouldn't even consider releasing a PS5 Pro until at least 2026.

Feel free to make one in the right off-topic section. I'm sure I'll have plenty to rant about.

The number of "You said press [Button]!" between me and zoomers is infuriating. Growing up on the SNES, I know where my X, A, B, and Y are. Thanks to the 360 and everyone who's young or didn't play games back when it wasn't popular... The button layout you know is wrong, fuck you.

Tbf, I grew up on SNES and I still can't recite those buttons' names & positions by heart. I just say "press square, triangle, etc" regardless of console.

I don't know why PS's labels resonated with me so much, probably because it's the most simple shit ever and their button layouts were always the same across half a dozen systems.

In Clockwise Order

Playstation: Circle, Cross, Square, Triangle
Nintendo: A, B, Y, X
XBOX: B, A, X, Y

Only difference with the L&R buttons are the back ones. Nintendo uses "Z", XBOX uses "T" and Playstation uses "2"

This "Useless Tips No One Else Gives Two Fucks About" post of the day was brought to you by me.
