Mega Rad Gun Thread

H&K and backwards rounds: Name a more iconic duo.
here's something to chew on. Ruger Security Six "wasn't shooting good any more". it was a 6" barrel completely filled with bullets. it was noticed there was a problem when "i felt really low recoil and no hits on the target". there is evidence it was shot in this fashion through several reloads.

also ruger revolvers are built pretty well, but this was basically beyond economic repair as the frame was also deformed.

Wait, you mean they were just shooting squib after squib?

Damn, that thing belongs in a gun safety exhibit. A testament to Ruger's robustness, that's for sure. That's what, 10-12 bullets stuck in that barrel?

iirc it was around 10 or so. several have piled up in the bore and deformed the barrel (notice the high polish of the barrel and that it's normally straight, not wobbly like that - the steel has bulges here and there from the bore being plugged and then shot through.

normally you can get away with a squib here or there in most revolvers, but this revolver went through at least two complete cylinders, and towards the end he was firing a .38 into the back of the stack just inside the (now cracked and bulging forcing cone, frame, and barrel) and there was enough force to "knock" the bullet at the muzzle free with enough energy to strike the paper target at "around 15 meters" per the explanation of the customer.

i sold him a GP101 a week later as well as "better ammo" since he somehow had managed to set back the bullet on a factory Hornady .38 by trying to force it into the cylinder. God help him.

Wow. Shades of that hi point carbine they got back with the barrel completely full of boolet.

And it never once crossed this dude's mind to *check the barrel*?

What is it called when you escape from winning a Darwin Award?

I have had a few Hornady 9mm hollow points get pushed back into the casing from being chambered and un-chambered from my CCW. If it wasn't mashed too far in, I'd just shoot it.

That one I'd just throw away.

Whatever floats your boat.

As my namesake says, the only person who can decide what gun is best for you is you. Only you know what you need it for, when and where you'll use it, how well you can use it, and so on.

That said, I would get a holster if I were you. I wouldn't wanna pocket-carry a revolver that didn't have a Hillary Hole.
I do have a Uncle Mike's J-Frame pocket holster, which I endorse whole heartedly. Keeps the finish from wearing and moisture from building up on the steel quite well.

at least the mags will be cheap (probably) since Colt SMG mags are everywhere and you can convert UZI magazines to work (albeit without bolt hold open unless you also modify the follower).

I had a much cooler looking colt style 9mm but it had feeding issues with JHPs so I ended up going with an ugly glock style setup. At least it feeds everything I put in it.

Apparently Rhode Island's magazine ban hasn't been stopped.

The interesting thing about this ban is that, the mags must be turned in by Sunday or they become felons.

Im surprised /k/ isn't talking about this.
Seems to me that someone needs to gift each politician in the state a free 30 round magazine. Followed by a call to the state police.

All I can say is that A. Move, and B. It's not like a cheap 30 round AR mag has a GPS tag on it. Just go off the island to shoot with those mags, use the Cuck 10 rounders at home, and tell no one.

It's hard to when the Jannies delete any thread about gun control. They are ever vigilant to suppress news of rights being stripped.

This does seem intriguing, and with that 32 round Colt mag, very reliable by all accounts, a shit ton of Dakka. My main issue is the price. 1200 big ones. More than some of their equivalent AR's. So it's a choice between roughly 2 Ruger PC carbines or one of these, both in 9mm and with roughly the same capacity if you give the Ruger glock mags.

If you live in those states and like your guns, you should already know this shit is coming. Not a matter of if but when. All i can tell them is to get their ducks in a row and move. It aint getting better. Still I agree, the Jannies are doing some sweeping indeed.

Hating on guns has been a liberal big city cultural ideal for decades I guess.
Their ideas came from somewhere, starting out small until it became the freakshow it is today. Ironically me and my revolver are considered underkill by modern standards lol. And fortunately more people in the past two years have bought guns than the 4 before, along with the Supreme Court ruling, so hopefully this stays a cartoon.
