Women dressing as men and pretending to be in the army was a real thing that happened, including in the US Civil War.

You have to remember that gender distinctions in clothing were way more enforced then. Women didn't have short hair, and they didn't wear pants. Also, they weren't allowed in the army. 'Short guy with a high voice' is a way more plausible category' than 'woman'.

It's why an FTM with a shitty beard is way more likely to actually pass (people really think they're male, not pretending to be polite) in some rural non-cosmopolitan area, because people don't know what FTMs look like, and 'weird ugly guy' makes more sense than 'woman on T' if you've never heard of the concept of 'woman on T'.

I've seen this on tumblr, too. Trans men don't understand why transwomen get all the attention and support, while they struggle with being heard. The responses she got is a perfect representation of their movement: it is a men's rights movement, with absolutely no regard for women. Transmen, who say they are men, cannot command a single argument for themselves or keep a space of their own. Alex's prostration for those poor, vulnerable transwomen is hammered by the "you better respect us, bitch" quote tweets.

Despite the facts in front of her, still does she wave it away. Transmen can't even stand up for themselves. Interesting how transwomen get misogyny and special sexual yet transmen do not inherit male privilege.

This is why the terms transsexual and transvestite should have never been put out of favor for the all-inclusive transgender. Now you have all these weird fucks who can latch onto the label and people will vehemently defend them in the name of transgender rights.

Via Twitter: The Eating Recovery Center, a huge chain of ED clinics based in Colorado, now openly advocates screening all their eating disorder patients for gender dysphoria as of June 2022. This involves asking leading questions to their (vulnerable, easily influenced) clientele. Some quotes from their post about it (archived here):

For trans youth, when the body image doesn’t quite line up with who they want to portray in the world, like when a trans male begins to grow larger hips and breasts, gender dysphoria can arise.

As eating disorder professionals, we must ask ourselves ... Is the eating disorder about losing weight or is it about aligning with one’s identified gender?

Here’s one of our favorite data pieces to share. When trans individuals take part in gender-affirming gender reassignment and gender dysphoria treatment, there is often a reduction in eating disorder behaviors. When one’s gender is affirmed and gender dysphoria is reduced, eating disorder symptoms decrease. Isn’t that amazing? Treating underlying gender dysphoria is critical to supporting the health of transgender individuals, and this is supported by the data. By starting hormone treatment and gender-affirming surgery, body dissatisfaction decreases along with eating disorder symptoms.

Every patient you talk to who has gender dysphoria should be screened for eating disorders. Every patient you see for an eating disorder should be asked about gender dysphoria. So, they plan to make it known to every suffering teenage girl who hates her body that she has the option of reframing her self-hatred into "gender dysphoria." She can then demand drugs to stop her boobs growing and slim her hips, and the medical establishment will line up to give her those drugs. Maybe surgery, too.

(Behind all the folksy language and pride flag pins, Eating Recovery Center is a for-profit behemoth that was purchased in 2021 by two private equity firms for $1.4 billion. I wonder if the new owners are trying to branch out and ramp up profits in a new sector?)
