Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

get a shiny wiglett so you can make a golden penis

Also: they are actually fucking doing it. Ash Ketchum's journey is going to be concluded in a final mini-series of 11 episodes.

I never thought I'd see the actual day when this would happen. They clearly had no idea what a Pokemon "Master" was and kept him chugging along while also refusing to age him at that. He should've been ditched when the Gen 3 anime started along with Misty and Brock. The games and manga were not afraid to switch characters up so IDK why the mainline anime was an exception. It's a shame that we'll never see how the previous game protagonists (Brendan, Lucas, Hilbert/Hilda, etc) would've been like if they were properly adapted into the anime instead of shoehorning Ash in every generation until now. I remembered watching the OR/AS trailer and being quite intrigued with how they characterized Brendan in such a short clip.

That said, I know it will never happen because of deadlines, but goddamn. If the gen 9 anime is being delayed until spring 2023, you'd think they should've just delayed the games by one year or even 6 months because every other anime I'm pretty sure how had a roughly in-sync release date with the start of the new gen.
Didnt they tease this years ago? The anime stopped being any good around diamond and pearl. They spent way too much time around the starting areas versus making new areas up and going forward and away from pallet town in the previous seasons. The orange league and Johto's exploration made things way more interesting than anything that happened in the actual games. Its another reason why I disdain the uninspired remakes of Kanto every few years. They never consider these locations. EVER. Even in the day and age of post launch support and paid DLC.

The battle frontier seasons also brought up a ton of areas that are not even in Emerald's battle frontier.

Would like to see some of these anime only places be added as DLC into the actual main games someday. Its was nice to see the sinjoh ruins in HG/SS and a missed opportunity they werent even mentioned in PLA.
I think the rational is that these anime only places serve to pad out the 3-4 year run-time until the next generation. So that's why they're not "canon" or ever mentioned outside of that one-off episode. But I agree. Many anime-exlusive places were very interesting.

In Kalos, there was a "Mega Island" that would've been cool to explore in the Gen 6 games to presumably hunt for Mega Stones/Mega Pokemon. And every Mythical Pokemon seems to have a cool/fleshed-out looking area where they come on that's never explored in the games at all.

I read/watched somewhere that the GS ball was supposed to be way more important to the plot in Johto and was supposed to contain Celebi.
Bulbapedia on GS Ball said:
In an interview with Masamitsu Hidaka in 2008, it was explained that the GS Ball was originally going to contain a Celebi that was to be the star of a large arc of the Johto saga. However, it was decided that Celebi would be the star of the fourth movie, so the story arc was viewed as redundant and shelved. The Ball was left with Kurt with the hopes that viewers would eventually forget about it.
Also I stopped keeping up with the anime back when Ash and the gang were at the Orange Islands with that GS Ball for some reason.

Ash is going away holy shit. Where did the years go?
Because of that "the 2010s were a blur" thing, the GS ball stuff may not feel too long ago. Like maybe around a decade or so?

If I remember right, that entire plot thread allegedly would have ended with a whole humans vs Pokemon war, with Ash and Pikachu earnestly trying to kill each other. I'd take that with a grain of salt, though, because the person who said this ragequit the show after the other writers retconned Molly's mom being dead in the third movie.
Sounds like this guy had multiple plotlines in mind for this arc that were 'unjustly' suppressed for reasons like it being "too grim" and "completely and utterly against the message of the show, you psychopath".
and then presented his what-ifs as if they were canon.

*throws himself on the floor*
This upset me so much right now... after that glitchfest due to rushing...

I didn't originally intend to but I enjoyed Violet enough that I decided to pick up Scarlet. I also moved my playthrough in which I complete as much of the Pokedex as possible before acquiring my ride Pokemon to that game. My current team is:

Lv. 62 Scyther
Lv. 59 Sylveon
Lv. 59 Lucario
Lv. 59 Tyranitar
Lv. 59 Armarouge
Lv. 58 Garchomp

I'm sitting at 150/400 Pokemon for my Living Dex. Two of them are even shiny, being a full odds Buizel and Snover! I know I won't be able to collect them all but I should at least be able to manage around 350 or so. The rest can be acquired afterwards when I finally stop playing hooky.

Also, after 230 hours on Violet, I've experienced my very first crash.

So yeah this brings up the question, why do two pokemon games get released at the same time? I still don't get that after all these years. If I had to start getting into the games though, what is the best one to play?

The purpose behind two games releasing is because one game will have things the other won't. This is supposed to encourage players working together to obtain things for each other. If you're wanting to pick up just a singular Pokemon game, you just look at the exclusives on both and pick the game you think has the cooler exclusives.

Pokemon Emerald, obviously 💚

If you think you'll want to play the whole series, start there and move forward because it's easier to gain QoL features than go backwards. But if you just want to jump in at current gen pick either Scarlet or Violet based on whichever of the two legendaries you like the look of better - Koraidon/Miraidon. Any exclusives you can trade online for including the opposite legendary to use in battles but the mount version of the legendary is unique to each game.

Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are the easiest games. That's not worth a whole lot when the series is fairly easy overall. But there you go.

It encourages people to trade with each other, which also means people talking about the game at lunch tables and recesses across the country as free advertising.

It's bullshit and you should only buy two if you are a collector but there you go.

As for which game to start with? Sword and Shield were pretty bad and gen 1 is now too old (and has already been remade twice) but any other mainline game is fine. If you are using an emulator, Crystal holds up (gen 3,) if you are buying, get something cheaper.

They really should just add a shiny mint at this point.

Hunting Fairy types so I can have a more viable theme team, start with Iron Valiant. Get one, but want to move on. Save.
Go for Impidimp and Mimkyu, only get a Impidimp. Reset and scout out a new area. While scouting, find a shiny Tourantula and Foongus without a buff in less than 2 minutes of each other.

Ok.

That used to be the morale behind it, but these days its just double the money for half the effort. Toggled by an ingame programming switch to go between both versions/sets of pokemon like BDSP has.

I thought you were all cucks for saying the game was enjoyable despite it being broken-- but someone got me the stupid game (wasn't even going to buy it)
and now I literally cannot stop playing it. It has been so fucking fun, despite the fact it's completely and utterly broken.

I'm sorry I thought you were all cucks.

edit: has anyone noticed there's WAY more Pokemon using sleep inducing moves in this game (I have Violet) or is it just me? That's been the most annoying part battle wise-- there's ALWAYS some jerk putting my Pokemon to sleep.

Shiney just sound too easy to get now. They've gone from awe inducing to annoying.
The latest pocketmons game I got is Alpha Sapphire, so shinies are still rare to me.

I've been playing the games on and off since the time Gen 1 was new, and I've only seen a wild shiny - that wasn't the Red Gyarados - only once or twice: a green Zubat.
