one of the most annoying things about this thread is how you guys act like the cartels are just going to fold up and stop existing at some point

that's the next government

To be perfectly clear on this – I made this post in the interests of calling attention to its inevitable end result. I thought (wrongly) it would be taken as a given/it would be implied that I fully think the bill, and any bills like it, are a bad thing, period, end of story. SESTA/FOSTA was a disaster. Anything that further criminalizes sex work and pushes for divorcing people from their bodies/sexuality is just plain wrong.

I will be blunt, though, and say that the people saying ‘it won’t go that far’ need to look again at Evangelicalism, and how far it’s willing to go. The fall of Roe was orchestrated over decades of bills exactly like this, field tested in state and federal legislatures, over and over again. It starts here, but it ends with something far worse. And in this case, it’s starting with an easy target: sex work. And as with Roe, it will inevitably wash up on the shores of even The Cishets, while the ruling class continues to do whatever they want, with whomever they want.

Now is absolutely the time to push back against this. Failing to do so just emboldens the people who introduce bills like this. Harsh backlash is needed, right now, against the rising tide of Christian Fascism/Terrorism, and if you happen to think otherwise, then, I’m sorry/not sorry: you’re just not paying close enough attention.

(More seriously, you are the ones who claim that being queer has nothing to do with getting laid yet simultaneously insis that pornography is a fundamental part of the queer experience, down to regularly holding pride parades where you do stuff that would get straight/cisgender people arrested under decency laws. You are the ones who think that even the slightest bit of opposition to queerness is literally no different from throwing them off rooftops, hence anti-queer people are the ones who should stop bother negotiating with your narcissism and not bother with respectability. You are the ones doing the divorcing, since 'the friendship of the thighs' is best done in a marriage that founds and evelops the family; doing thi stuff recreationally betrays that purpose. You are the ones who started with anti-sodomy bills, field tested the increasingly pro-queer legislature, and eventually just rammed through with disregard with due process and enforced things through mob rule, you legislating from the bench. You are the ones who profit off queer suffering. You are the ones who ar emboldened by Republican decor and enabling.
Then again, the idea tha the First Amendment permitted pornography was... apparently never actually legislated? Moreover, would pornography of children play a part in this?)

This will never pass in the current climate; there are WAY too many people in the world addicted to porn for this to pass outside of a dictatorship.

Good luck with that lol. Even if it was passed and signed (fat chance lol), porn is already protected under 1A.
