𝕏 / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
This would be my interpretation too, but I've seen a j*urno trying to post a mastodon link and Twitter not letting it go through. Either the "free advertisement" flag is per-account and the j*urno already got pozzed, or no one can link to naughty sites.
was he trying to link to the elon airplane stalker on mastodon? or was it just something random?

Musk found Yoel's thesis paper.

I was not predicting Musk was going to go so scorched earth on the past moderation team and Jack that he'd start implying they were a bunch of pedos.

The regular fake right fuckwit outlets like the Post Millennial have really dropped the ball on the brief blocking of gay pedo jew Yoel Roth's dissertation, publishing articles repeating UPenn's claims that 'hahah we just made a mistake'.

No follow up like 'um so like why did you make the mistake lmao????' which could elicit ACTUALLY NEWSWORTHY RESPONSES like 'oh lol so Roth asked if we could like hide it or sumfing NBD'.

No Pennsylvania RTK requests for all UPenn's communications internally and with Roth and others related to the dissertation.

Cross posting and linking will be fine. Just no creating a twitter account just to advertise your shit and not contribute.

Are seriously people unable to actually read the rules?

They are only banning dummy accounts that _only_ link off-site, they are not banning mentioning other sites or linking elsewhere.

Jesus.
That's what people are hoping about but most likely bad actors will push for a full ban on artists that link to art sites.

It's a weird one but it makes more sense now. I'm sure Reddit and other detractors will ignore this clarification, though.

I think the modern internet's become a very strange place when it comes to using platforms for free promotion. Back in the day, you'd make your own site - if you tried using a forum as your personal advertising space, you'd get kicked out.
But now people have whole careers on sites like YouTube where all their monetization is via patreon and sponsors. YouTube don't get a cut, but they have to provide all the hosting for free.

It's a pretty bad move imo. I see where he is coming from, but this is going to have a ripple effect over the industry which will hurt everybody.

Cross promotion is a win-win. Publishers don't need to put in much effort and they consolidate their audience, whereas the platform gets more content in turn, so more users.

With this type of situation, when you promote any social media, you are also promoting all the others you link to on your YT, IG, Twitch, Twitter etc... You might not bring new users over there, but it does contribute with engagement.

Now, it's going to be all out war between all parties with link reciprocity. And the user experience on Twitter is going to suffer.

Web 2.0 is cancer. Can't say I care. The entire thing needs to implode so it can start over with less interdependency and less interference from mega-corps, the media and normalfags.

Not sure if I agree with this policy. Let’s say I’m an artist and I want to advertise my brand on Ko-fi as well where I could add my own payment processor for people who want to commission me for artwork, would that be a breach of policy? Maybe not technically, but the banning of cross promotion to me seems harsh.

Pretty please can we have Elon cutting off EU access for christmas?????
He's on a collision course with the EU for sure, especially Germany since they are the ones who see American social media companies operating in the EU as their cash cow that they can endlessly fine for this or that violation.

I actually want him to block Germans from accessing Twatter because this will hopefully inspire other American social media platforms to do the same. For me, it's about the blatant hypocrisy of Europeans using American social media while insisting that Americans disregard their freedoms in order to gain access to European internet users - who clearly can't handle the paradigm-shattering sight of watching Americans run their mouths freely online and must be protected from this shameless display of free speech. What good are rights if they are just traded away for access to foreign markets?

Also, think of the psychological impact this will have on Germans themselves. They've been following the news about how Russians now have to use Tor and VPN to access Western social media because Putin is such an evil dictator, while thinking themselves free and the good guys. But when access to Twatter is blocked, and now it's Germans themselves who have to use VPNs and Tor to access American social media... what does that say about them? Are they still free and the good guys?

I don't know, this seems like it could be related to Trump.

>"Elon, I'll come back if I can advertise Truth, it'll be yuge."
>"No."
>"Well, I'm going to do it anyway, it's going to be yuge."
>"Guys, we need to make a rule so Trump can't advertise Truth."
>"If we do that it'll look like we're singling out Trump."
>"Good point, let's ban other sites too."

Regardless, it's a fucking stupid rule to make. Terrible optics.

Banning off site linking of plataforms is a bad move. I understand how it could be a good move and some reasons it might help, but I cannot say the result will help twitter.

I mean, I don't use twitter and I don't give a shit if it dies but you would think Musk wouldn't just kill it like this..

That said, I can think of a very good reason to do something this "dumb" out of the blue and that is if he is planning on incorporating a official service to have your accounts linked. As in, a proper little place in the bio where you can go in the settings and fill out a form and they will be shown.

Biggest advantage of such system would be it would allow for a very easy way to control NSFW twitter access. You have OnlyFans, Pornhub, Furaffinity link on your profile? NSFW flagged, no minors allowed to see it.

Then again I might be giving Muskrat too much credit.

Jesus.
So why are Onlyfans and Tiktok "dummy accounts" not banned too in this policy?
Rhetorical question, of course.
Regardless, just like with blompf selling NFTs with stolen (?) stock art (JFC lmao), and Elon using Twitter as personal vengeance and cuckservatard platform, I want it to be known that I was never on board with either of these personality lolcow cults.

Don't worry, you can just pay for it. :tomgirl:

Bankruptcy averted boys, let's go :story:
Is this a attempt at baiting people into paying Twitter to advertise their off site accounts? That could be funny. People paying Elon to "own the fash" by putting the link to their shitty OnlyFans as a ad.
