- Both of their lifestyles don't actually work long-term, to maintain the grift you have to eat meat/get in a car

As for pedestrian bridges, the "if you need a scramble, there shouldn't be cars at all" is assuming that everything is the same on the exact 24 hour schedule. There are going to be peak hours where pedestrian scrambles make a lot of sense (other times, not so much), and the logistics of trying to close off roadways is not beneficial, especially when it comes to parking, deliveries, and emergency vehicles.

Sure, the people asking those questions will be idiots of that generation similar to these idiots. Those individuals will fail to grasp history, facts, and other details that help paint a complete understanding of history. We all might be guilty of it but noting it is a problem and being on the lookout for it is the first step. As an example, I will use an experience I had in my university American history course. One of the authors of a text that was used stated how some tribes had the two sprit / LGBT crap. However, I was aware of text that were not mentioned in the syllabus that stated some of the warriors captured were made to feminize themselves as a form of punishment. Now the text I referenced was not easily found and was in a major research university library in a sub basement. I read the text, emailed the author of that text on emasculation of captured tribesmen, and got a few quotes. Next, I emailed the author of the two-spirit article and asked if they could comment on what the author of the book I located stated. The two-spirit author just stated that she felt it was out of place to include possible rape and castration as an alternative explanation at least spirit some of Indian two-spirit culture.

The fundamental issue these neo urban planning types hit is population density. Contrary to what they think most people don't want to live in commie block pods so they are willing to put up with cars if it means being able to live in a house or a less crowded apartment. Basically any one of their solutions would just be making everyone live in 2-4 mile bubbles centered on a large set of commie block pod houses with businesses around and then maybe train transport between theses centers which would quickly become crowded and miserable.

You know, I never wore a mask at home because I live on my own property. Now imagine a person living in an urban city inside a small apartment. Let's say this person is middle class but not wealthy so buying / renting a bigger unit with a personal balcony is out. This leave said person with a 500-650 square foot apartment where they have very little access to the outside. Now, some might say that a nice modern apartment complex like that comes with common space that all residence all allowed to use.

However, lets see how that worked out in the United States. Well, it seems that even in outdoor common areas, one needed to wear a fucking mask. So no more just resting outside, they have to have an uncomfortable mask on. Now, the initial response was that wearing masks was no big deal and the NJB people probably mocked those that opposed masks yet I would bet most of them now are sick and tired of masking.

I don't know the exact term for it but I will call it the Early Adaptor Paradox, early adaptors in technology / infrastructure are more likely to fall behind later innovations. A classic example is the credit card and its processing system, The United States was the first country to adopt credit cards and as such had to create the payment networks for them. Early on it was those big metal imprint machines, then we switched to the magnetic ones for multiple different version, and now we are finally getting wider adoption of chip and NFC payment tech.

Spoken like someone who never has never tried to actually make anything. 99.9% of makerspaces have only very basic tools and no one with any actual skill frequents them (presumably because they have their own shop or access to their workplace's shop). They're for yuppies to pretend that they have practical skills. Good luck finding an actually expensive tool like a waterjet at one; even if they had the budget for fancy tools, they wouldn't buy them because the liability is too high to let randoms use them.

Are you trying to get everyone in suburbia to move to the city? I hope not, because that's stupid and counterproductive. There will always be people who want to live in the suburbs. The goal is to make sure it's legal to build better places, and to make suburbanites actually pay the true cost of all that wasted space and infrastructure.

The guy with a fridge, a yard, and a home machine shop is far less of a consoomer than the guy who does nothing but frequent expensive restaurants.

Pantry will not only hold the exact ingredients you want and use but already self made food. Tools that you find useful in size that fits your hand. No need worry that someone all the woodclue or broke the sander.

Suburban density is about 2k people per sq mile. If we put "transit stops" (let's assume light rail) you could still have suburban density with adequate ridership. The problem is mass transit is for poor people and always will be for poor people. It's can be a good thing, but trying to argue that EVERYONE must use it is where it all breaks down. Instead of bitching about suburbs and freeways, they should be figuring out why people in large cities are NOT using the transit that already exists (the answer will be crime, dirty, slow, sucks).

Oh the Welder in me is storming at that workshop comment. At least working in a shop with guys I know, they won't be beating the equipment apart. Even then, it's not my shit . Things wear out quicker, and you're still expected to bring your own basic tools. Making my own shop at home means I can pick out the equipment I want, to when I do maintenance, how big the shop is, to even things like backup generators to keep things running if power goes out. This kid knows nothing of work.
