I blame big mouth. It was a show about sex, sexuality and puberty that got 100 percent fresh rating on rotten tomatoes (yes the show with a talking angry piece of literal shit, and a vagina with eyes on it got a fresh rating) now everybody wants their own big mouth.

Blame the so called devotion to "diversity hiring " which basically translates to whatever Berkley dropouts the hr department can find off an art hosting site. Ironically even a dropout from the actual calarts school would have more than the easy to draw and manipulate beamouth style. The name is kinda misnomer.
They MeToo'd Lasseter if I recall but the first sign of things going wrong was when they basically finished up all their old projects (ending with Toy Story 3, basically from 2000 to 2010 was the golden years of Pixar) and all of their post-2010 content has been pretty much garbage that got worse and worse.

Even Inside Out--which was re-treading old ground but still was able to be close enough to be the "old Pixar" that people liked was just a fluke, and then they set all the goodwill they had from that movie on fire with The Good Dinosaur just a few months later.

When you put it that way, it really is a terribly mixed bag. The only movies I genuinely loved were Inside Out and Coco. There's movies that were fine like Monster's University, Soul was surprisingly decent and I guess if I was bored enough I'd re-watch Turning Red, but I haven't even bothered to watch shit like Brave, The Good Dinosaur or Onward.

Lightyear sucked too, that one was pretty disappointing given the subject material was basically a free slam dunk. Nope! Dull and plodding.

I should state that the "post-2010" content should be further divided where the "generally meh" becomes "generally bad".

Way I see there's at least four distinct eras.
  • The films in the 1990s (Bug's Life, Toy Story, Toy Story 2) where they tried to get their footing--when stacking up against the Golden Age Bug's Life is the weakest
  • The Golden Age, basically starting with Finding Nemo/The Incredibles and ending with Toy Story 3
  • The Weak Age (starting after Toy Story 3 and ending sometime around 2016-2017) where the Disney acquisition starts to turn the company sour
  • The Woke Age (TS4, Lightyear, Turning Red) where the originals of the company have been forced out

Speaking of Inside Out, the director of that movie, Pete Docter, is actually executive producing Win or Lose

OK, the content itself is reprehensible enough (and pretty telling, seeing the little girl's reaction to the troon's masculine voice), but the fucking beanmouth style actually sends up a well of indescribable rage inside of me. I was praying that Luca and Turning Red were flukes, but no. It turns out "beanmouth" is the new style over at Pixar. Fuck.
It wouldn't surprise me if all the recent original pixar movies look samefag because they no longer have to worry about doing non-human protagonists anymore because technology has advanced enough.

It's like everyone that comes out of art school now just wants to draw Steven Universe.

The Animator's Survival Kit stresses how core skills like life-drawing are vital for giving characters weight etc. I wonder how many in current Pixar can do much more than noodle arms and bean mouths.

It makes me wonder where all the budget goes. Calarts is easy as shit to make and animate to the point you could probably replicate every asset and scene within a couple of hours in Blender with barely any experience. The colouring is also basic pastel. Shadows are automatic, and particle effects seem incredibly generic. You could probably remake Turning Red with ten somewhat experienced people in a year, which is definitely not 300M$.
I have a feeling it's like Twitter with 95% of the employees being middle managers and about 2 hours of actual sculpting a day.

You still have to do life-drawing in any given art school, but it legit would not surprise me if they're cutting corners. But after seeing the Rory thread from beginning to end, it's more likely many students are just that lazy they can coast by on subpar work in their portfolio because you can't actually fail college classes if you're turning in all of your work.

I think they're doing this becuase Lightyear (the least 'CalArts beanmouth & noodle arm' looking movie of the recent pixar movies) failed harder than Luca and Turning Red did, so it was mandated to go full CalArts.

Advertising probably takes up a fairly sizable chunk of the budget. Lighting too.

From what I remember advertising is the numbers the studios don't expose, and are generally the same as the budget. As for lighting I don't remember seeing anything to the levels of 90's 2D lighting the last two decades, at best you'd have some overexaggerated shadows during a song.

Chris Gore on an appearance on a podcast had a really good idea, spin anything LGBT off into its own specific brand (Disney Sparkle is the name he came up with), don't give the films wide releases but have them play at LGBT film festivals or pride events or a specific section on Disney+.

That way people at least know what they're getting into beforehand instead of tainting the entire Disney brand for conservatives in general and you're not wasting money by giving something with niche appeal a wide release.

I would go a step further and in addition to an LGBT brand, have a faith based Disney brand as well or at least ones that feature conservative values (call it "Disney Americana" or something)

That's how you have a country made up of diverse groups of people without it blowing up into a civil war, everyone gets thrown a bone, that's simply what's fair.

Instead the left truly wants to wipe conservatism off the face of the Earth, they have a conquering mentality, instead they need to learn to fucking share and that the world doesn't revolve around them.

I saw a leak of the first episode of Pixar's new "Win or Lose" series, and surprise surprise, the plot is about one of the kids on the team being a troon and trying to feel comfortable using the girl's bathroom despite puberty causing his voice to deepen. A very relatable struggle for kids aged 6-11.View attachment 4095594
now i think i know what that casting search was for

That's not how a mind virus cult works. The purpose of the cult is to spread its message far and wide, and the purpose of the cult members is to weasel their way into institutions/ businesses and transform them into mouthpieces for the cult. It's a cultural grey goo scenario. The only cure is for the institutions/businesses to collapse once they can no longer perform their core functions.

Remember the next time you watch a movie that portrays Leftists as heroic champions of free speech and fairness - this is what they wanted all along. They were always planning on cancelling you once they took control.

So they have a TG kid but still looking for true and honest women to play the part. A teenager who hasn't quite hit puberty could probably convincingly play the part.
Um sweaty, how dare you assume that my 17YO MtF Daughter CANT accurately portray a true and honest Woman for this role? They've been on HRT for 1 month and is JUST as much of a heckin valid woman as any. Take your bigotry elsewhere 💅

Aren't these the kind of people that reeee'd about 'diverse' characters needing 'diverse' voice actors that match their specific 'diverse' characteristics? Why hire real girls to voice a trans-identified male character? Shouldn't they want to hire a trans-identified teen actor if they want to go for that vaunted representation and authenticity?

Plus hiring a teenaged girl to play a teenaged trans-identifying boy makes me think that on some level they know the trans character isn't really female and a real trans-id boy won't sound female, so they have to hire a real teen girl to keep the fiction going and to pretend that this is what they 'really' sound like. Otherwise why choose a girl when there is probably a-dime-a-dozen trans-id teen boy actors now in California.

Why are modern writers too mentally stunted to think of any message that goes beyond sexuality or gender identity?
Is this real? quality of the board aside, as a animatic this doesn't work, there is barely no pause between characters lines and or a acurate sense of timing, it feels more like a slide show of panels than a pre-viz of the animated final product,

Well, maybe it is different for the pixar pipeline, and maybe they give the animatic a second pass (waste of time, bu twhatever). Also, not a lot of acting among during the lines, but maybe that is a director thing, that leaves more to the animators to act more freely.

Regardless, looks like the folks at Pixar really got butthurt over the claims of them being "passive progressive" over their previous "blink and you miss it" diversity characters and decided to jump two feet into the worst hornet nest, troon kids.

I mean, to me this is fucking awesome, I can't wait to read the headlines "my 10 year old wants puberty blockers after watching disney +", gonna piss myself laughing, I mean, imagine Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Disney taking part into the chemical castration of a generation.
