I can't see Usenet being too popular anytime soon.

Normies struggle with the concept of the Fediverse (and Mastodon in particular) and how it's decentralised. They just want to consume the electronic equivalent of goyslop piped into their devices at the touch of one button and conveniently located all in one place. Could you imagine the typical current year user trying to configure anything? Then there's the tiny issue of how old school the typical newsreader interface is.

Given how the typical current year small-i internet enjoyer struggles with the concept of decentralisation, there's no way they'd cope with Usenet and its hundreds (thousands?) of servers worldwide; some of which with retention as far back as the 1980s.

Centurylink is trash. I ditched them years ago. Xfinity may not be the best either but at least they're fast. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard of Xfinity blocking the farms. One of the main reasons I switched over is because Centurylink no longer allows you to use your own modem router. They will force you to either rent to buy their overpriced shit modem.

Xfinity/Comcast was blocking the farms in late Septermber I think. I spent a lot of time with them on the phone because of it.

To the people saying they've never heard of CenturyLink/Lumen, they're not nobodies. The Seattle Seahawks/Sounders stadium used to be called CenturyLink Field and was recently renamed to Lumen Field.

You can call your ISP and relay this information. If your ISP is CenturyLink/Qwest, you should threaten to change ISP and follow through.

Mine isn't, and see, I would attempt to do that, but my household has very recently switched off our old Cable provider and onto a Fiber Optic provider with faster and cheaper service about a month ago, and I don't think I could swing changing everything back just so I can personally access a New Zealand fruit/bird enthusiast basket weaving forum.

Guess I'm stuck on TOR for now.

If your ISP isn't CenturyLink/Qwest it helps more to just complain, since they're not the ones who decided to block they will be incentivized to tell their provider/upstream to cut that shit out, to get their own customers off their back.

And if an ISP company complains it weighs more than a single private customer.
