I liked Razör back in the day when he defended small game studios and gave their games a fair shake in my opinion. And here is where i go in to buts, althoughs and all that jazz. Been lurking this thread a long time and will not comment on his eve /coomer/political saga since i would be parroting most of the opinions here. Still i feel he had a missed opportunity to speak for the crappy but compelling cheap games that appeal to the people who can ignore a lack of polish for a good core gameplay/story and writing. Hating JRPGs and SJWs became a fad in 2010, so Razorfist ran with them and made them basic building blocks for his character. I once went along with the anti-JRPG hate, until I played FF13, which people like Spoony and Razorfist cursed out as one of the worst games in existence. After I played the game and found it to be good, I could never look back at those JRPG reviews that Spoony and Razorfist made with the same eye: how much of their rage comes from a legitimate place, and how much of it comes from them being idiots and missing simple clues or tips? Are they really that angry at a game that was really bad, or are they just mad because they suck at it?

Having seen enough of Spoony and Razorfist screwing up in video games (like how Danny-boy got lost in Halo Reach, LOL) I think it's more of the latter than the former. Most of their complaining revolves around how JRPGs don't play like their classic CRPGs of old, and the way they play games shows that they bitch and moan at games being bad even if the game isn't bad, it's just that they suck at it.

As for hating SJWs and shilling libertarian politics, again, that was a fad in the mid-2010s, and Razor was no stranger to it, because SJWs were annoying plenty of people in the geek culture with their smoothbrain takes on what is sexist or racist, and people still hated neocons, so the only other alternative from the big right and the big left was libertarian/Goldwater Republican politics in the eyes of many, which included Danny-boy himself.

SJW-hate was at its zenith in the 2015-2016 era when Gamergate was still a thing and when people could easily get famous by setting up Youtube channels and bashing SJWs on the regular. Guys like Carl Benjamin, MundaneMatt, Internet Aristocrat, and others became big Youtube hits due to them bashing SJWs, and Razorfist, whose politics aligned with these people, jumped into the ring and made his own rants about how the left and the SJWs were stupid, which allowed him to also grow his channel.

The thing is, Razorfist is still acting as if it's 2016. He's still acting as if people give a shit about the differences between CRPGs and JRPGs, or that people still give a shit about hating SJWs, when really, gamers today don't care about what type a game is so long as it's fun, and both the SJWs and the MAGA crowd had become boring and stale over the past 6 years. So expect more sperging from his anti-Japan, MAGA politisperg side, as he tries to keep the flame afloat, while disinterest in his talking points slowly kill his channel.

Danny-boy has to keep banging on the doors and claiming that weeb stuff sucks or that MAGA is the true way for politics in America-because less and less people care about these things as time goes on. Anime and manga are becoming more dominant in America (LOL they sell their toys and books at convenience stores while comic stores close down), Ron DeSantis and the non-Trump Republicans' victory shows that both MAGA and the SJWs are stale and old news, (shit, just look at the Democrats relying on Biden, who clearly isn't an SJW) and people today barely give a shit about D&D RPGs, westerns, noir, heavy metal, the Elric Saga, or whatever crap Razor is into.

As I said before, if I were him, I'd count myself lucky that the stuff I like is on the fringe. It's less liable to be fucked by corporate bullshit (the modern game industry relies on microtransactions while the anime industry treats its animators like garbage) or SJW pandering (superhero comics are heavily influenced by the pro-SJW writers and corporations, and western video games and movies have a certain SJW tint). For Razorfist who hates microtransactions and SJW influence, it should be a Godsend to him that his favorites aren't tainted by the things he hates. Instead, he takes aim at people having fun with things that he doesn't like, and while that was funny back in 2012, now, it's just sad. You have a guy who's nearing 40 refusing to realize that the world has moved on.

For example, in Dragon Quest or Shin Megami Tensei I can either spend a turn buffing up my team's stats slightly or take a gamble on the enemy's resistances and try to debuff them by a significant amount. Add in the ways enemies can react to my actions with their own buffs and debuffs, and it becomes a metagame of chess with an ai that also replicates the thrill of gambling. Action rpgs don't really due this because they focus on damage per second strategies, which is why Final Fantay's most famous buff is the Haste spell instead of Protect or Shell.

You are a man of culture but you are forgetting one thing that SMT has that Final Fantasy and Pokemon have completely failed to do anything similar to, the Press-Turn system and allowing the AI especially on hard to use the same tricks the player has available. I normally don't like most turn based Rpgs but I recently played through SMT 3 and god damn thats now one of my favorite games of all time and it's because the game respected my intelligence and attempted to beat me down. But I don't think danny would provide reasoning like you or I or anyone else in the thread would, he'd probably just block us.

Hating older call of duty doesn't hold up because COD 4 modern warfare and Black Ops 1 were shockingly feature rich and consumer friendly compared to modern triple AAA gaming. The J6 prisoners are a big sore point for me. These guys got in trouble because of Trump. The least he can do is try to bail them out or make a public case as to why they should be freed. You're right. CoD in those early years were very anti-Commie, anti-Middle-Eastern terrorism, they were up against all the things Danny-boy supposedly hates. Yet Razorfist hates it because it's a game that relies on speed of reaction time, rather than filling the right numbers and values, to beat the game. Combine that with him not really being able to absorb instructions very well, which explains why he got lost in Halo Reach, and that would explain why he hated CoD.

Say what you want about the older call of duty games. The original modern warfare trilogy oddly aged like wine in places.
