Community Tard Baby General (includes brain dead kids) - Fundies and their genetic Fuckups; Parents of corpses in denial

I guess whatever the specific duplication/etc is, prognosis probably depends on how badly vital organs are effected. Just from what I've read ITT, it sounds like heart and lung malformations are the biggest killers related to trisomies (even was for Downs until relatively recently).

Can how severely affected organs are by trisomy be diagnosed in utero? You'd have to live in an area later term abortion is accessible, but I'd imagine there are people out there who'd be ok with having a tard as long as there's a decent chance of years of good quality of life, but not so much a tard whose heart is so fucked it's doomed to die shortly after birth..

I would imagine the opposite. It’s easy to give birth to a potato when you’re expected that it will shortly pass, you can grieve, and move on with your life.

It’s the ones that are nothing but resource drains for the next 5 decades that will absolutely ruin your life and every plan you ever had for it.

If you think having a disabled kid is just a resource drain, you should probably abort.

Other people see them as loved members of their family. Regardless, no child should be brought into a situation its just going to suffer.

I seriously doubt anyone wants their nether regions permanently wrecked to give birth to a corpse. That's a painful, horrible experience anyone in a position to experience it wants to avoid.

There are many caregiver support groups where mothers admit they didn’t want to make the choice to abort, thinking the child would die shortly after. Only to be medicated to the gills for depression and regret after learning their little darling would be needing 24/7 care from them in perpetuity.

It’s not as rare as you think. Being stuck in a permanent state of purgatory and servitude is catastrophic collateral damage.

Isn't Gwen the mother who would write letters to all the doctors who said the girls had life expectancies of months, on their birthdays, to say how wrong they were? Or at least that's what she said she would do.
Yes, Gwen is the author of harrassing letters to THE doctor (high-level expert) who evaluated her spuds. She’s a real piece of work.
Does anyone follow Cal’s social media? I hope he eventually cuts off contact with his crazy-ass parents and lives an amazing life.

a)Cal is not a cow in his own right, and B)the goblins are dead and in any case have/had their own thread for all of this.

Can we maybe get back to discussing alive potatoes and their bovine parents instead? Hartley milk is stale and so old it's soured cream now.

And I can assure you that being stuck with someone who resents your existence for shit you can't even help, especially if you have disabilities that prevent you from easily leaving or even alerting others to what's happening, is no picnic either.

I get parenting a disabled kid is stressful and parents need to vent and whatnot, but I also feel like disabled kids often end up getting scapegoated by their families, who probably had issues before the kid was even born.

It most definitely can! I used to follow a YouTuber who had a T-13 baby (who lived 60 minutes after birth) and they knew something was wrong in the first-trimester US, which was simply done to date the pregnancy. They could tell that her brain and face were not properly developing, and sure enough, she had that "Cabbage Patch doll" appearance. This couple chose to continue the pregnancy, because they wanted to have their baby for as long as possible.

(I stopped watching it shortly afterwards, when it reverted to being just another family vlog.)

They can also detect defects of almost every organ before mid-pregnancy, although in some cases they have to be looking for them.

Thefetus.net has literally hundreds of videos and pictures, most of them (that I've seen) from Turkey, Reunion Island, and Europe and while you have to register to see the whole website, it's open to everybody.

I’m going to go back to reading about frogs now.

I never said it was their fault. But if you are denying some disabilities can absolutely ruin the entire family, you haven’t been looking hard enough.

”It’s not their fault” doesn’t change the reality of what is. It might not be some kids fault if they constantly scream all day, but that doesn’t change the reality of every goddamn person around dealing with some screaming kid all day. It might not be someone’s fault if they have the poop-smearing kind of autism, but that doesn’t change the reality of someone’s family dealing with the extreme stress of a shit-smearer. Something like 20% of parents of autistic kids have symptoms of ptsd for example. It’s not their fault, but the consequences are very real.

“It’s not their fault“ and “Some disabilities can be a nightmare to deal with and ruin everything you loved about your life for as long as they live” can both be true.

Is is sad the kid isn't nearly as fucked up as I figured he'd be? I mean like, more seriously deformed and a complete potato as opposed to being severely retarded (the article said he could respond to sounds stimuli at least, which is more than can be said for spuds like Luna).

I hope he was able to have as good a quality of life as possible.

If the kid is screaming and poop-smearing, chances are there's something wrong in their environment the parents should try to figure out before publicly blasting their kids on the internet.

Autism Moms(tm) are the worst with this shit, I swear a greater than 0 number of them are NPD or something similar.

If they have NPD it isn’t their fault, right? 🤷‍♀️

I’m sorry the reality of some disabilities ruining families hurts, but it is what it is. No one wants to lose their entire lives to be in service to their disabled child in perpetuity. Of course the kid doesn’t deserve to be resented, but just dismissing the collateral damage away doesn't actually make it go away.

This is why I support abortion.

Disability isn't an excuse for child abuse. That said, for the sake of the kids I wish there were safe, loving options other than family for their care. Disabled kids are at statistically higher risk of abuse than nondisabled kids after all.

Where did abuse come from? I never mentioned abuse, just feelings, which are completely normal to have.

And of course some people will use their disabled kids as scapegoats. I’m not talking about every child and every disability and every parent. But there is no denying that some children with some disabilities are a fucking nightmare to care for, full stop.

@Trombonista Sorry, the convo kinda got away from me.
