I like a lot of Gen X. It's the boomers who mostly suck.

I've never watched any Law and Order but my wife landed on SVU as her latest "marathon for background noise" series, and I know I shouldn't be surprised at pozzed shit on TV anymore but this has been jaw-clenchingly egregious.

At some point I mentioned to her how this has to be the most corrupt department I've ever seen portrayed as strictly good guys or at least having good intentions, and the Constitution seems to be treated as a background villain if it's ever mentioned at all. The very next episode the prosecution takes center stage working overtime to convict someone and everyone who mentions Constitutional restrictions either does so balefully or, in the case of the defense attorney, dripping with smarm and sleaze and all the visual language of unsympathetic characters. Guy is magically convicted (???) and the episode ends with a shot framing the brave female prosecutor's pensive look as she declares "maybe the Constitution needs some stomping." Elevator door closes. Dick Wolf. Roll on snare drum.

This shit is gonna make me revert to fedora-tipping lolbert mode. Send help.

I think the biggest valid criticism of X is we had every opportunity to push back against boomerism, knew things were getting worse, and instead just sank into nihilism and apathy, hiding our pain with ironic japes instead of actually, you know, doing something. And if there's anything I hate about millennials, it's that they imitated our irony but were instead sincere about the shit we'd said as jokes.

Like comparing Bush to Hitler at least semi-ironically turned into sincerely believing Trump is his reincarnation. And Bush easily edges out Trump as a worse President simply by getting us involved in costly and optional wars. Say what you like about Trump, he never did that. Liberal self-professed peaceniks get really mad when you point out he's the only President in recent memory who didn't get us involved in wasteful foreign adventures.

There are a lot of good things in Boomerism, despite the shit.
Apathy wasn't a factor. Maybe that's the difference.

When I present an argument or start a discussion about the current state of certain media (Star Wars, Halo, etc.) and I'm replied to with "salty" or "cope" or w/e the fuck people are into saying these days. It's impossible for me to express how much I like and miss the old state of those things without braindead consoomers coming out of nowhere to insult me for it. Bonus points when someone says something like "If you don't like it, then don't watch it."

It's really grating and gross when I hear a person from any walk of life, any expertise reference Sigmund Freud in any serious capacity that is to his credit, particularly if it involves his theories about sexuality. Worse, he projected his sick sexual fantasies about women and girls directly onto said women and girls as supposed fact with pretty much no age being off-limits in his sick ideas. He in fact had some very particular fixations on prepubescent girls as young as toddlers that could be summarized as excuses that fathers should molest their daughters because they want it on every level. The freak has been used as a reference and an excuse by countless men looking to justify their behaviors and desires that should land them permanent placement on sex offender registries or better yet, up against a wall.
