It's gonna be hell for Darrick given his weedbrain constantly makes him forget if he was using his crappy proprietary system or just expecting you to use 5e. One false move and he might get whacked with a C n D.

It's still shit, but I can see the comedy in it.

You know if I was in wheelchair irl the one thing I'd want to do in my fantasy escapist entertainment is play as somebody WHO COULD FUCKING WALK.
It's probably only caters to fully able idiots who romantisise/fetishise being crippled for some reason.

The biggest issue I have with DnD wheelchairs is that they are a sign of the bigger issue that becomes more obvious as 5e goes on - dragging modern life stuff into fantasy setting.
Recent Strixheaven book is especially guilty of this as it feels less like magical school à la Hogwarts and more like some pompous college in Seattle. Seriously, this place has a coffee shop, not just newspapers, but magazines, sandwich shops, and of course whoever designed the locations had to make sure every single set of stairs in the game have accessibility option, which I guess makes more sense putting such things in ancient tomb, but still. It brings fantasy down to the standards of Real Life, killing any sence of excitement and feeling of escapism.
Not to mention the included adventure is full on snore fest.

...fuck, yet another advantage to having an all grognard/grognard trained group; this combat wheelchair shit has never came up.

I didn't even know this WAS a thing until KF.

any sence of excitement and feeling of escapism.
As established in the RPG thread, escapism/heroics/melodrama/excitement are SO 20th century. RPG's according to the big names are now supposed to be about social woes or something....

The issue I have multifaceted.

First, personally I generally just don't deal with systems where characters get maimed. Partly because they attract guro edgelords, party because it means combat/post-combat is usually complicated, but degrades characters to the point they are less useful than new ones. IF you're depowering a character, just kill them. Hell, I'm not a huge fan of magical diseases in most cases because its another thing to track.
Unless you show signs of being a guro edgelord, I don't care if you like those systems, I know normal people play them. Just for White Wolf stuff there was always that one guy who was heavy breathing when describing their amputation and every time I cannot log off an block everyone fast enough. (Though if I ever revisit my OSE roster-management campaign idea, I probably want to include long term damage. But then its more of a save-vs-death sort of thing, and it'd only be one several characters they're managing, so they can just retire the character if they're not combat effective)

Second, I hate the way its implemented especially in D&Ds wokeverse. They can't decide how this works tonally.
If this is a lofty high-fantasy world, why is anyone crippled unless the Gods are very literally dicks? There is no reason for anyone to be crippled when Restoration, Remove Afflication or similar are able to be cast.
If this a gritty, low fantasy world, there is no fucking way those wheelchairs exist. They should be breaking down, getting smashed, burned, disolved, or just pulling their users down to drown.

And third is because due to point two, its just about injecting identity politics. Why the fuck would someone who can't walk want to be crippled in a game?

It's not made for people who are actually crippled, it's made for woke twittertards to gush about on social media and buy or include in their stories to show how progressive and with the times they are.

I wanna know who the fuck wrote this because it deserves an award. I can sleep soundly knowing everyone at WotC got their participation trophies.

Oh no they haven't. It's very clear they're going to try and wait for the outrage to blow over to stealth update it. Also they've become even scummier by adding new loops to unsubscribe from their shit service by removing the button, forcing you to use a ticket now, and are intentionally stalling them using "holidays" as an excuse.

If anyone truly believes WotC won't do this shit all over again but on the down low, I've got a nice patch of marshland on the border of Ukraine and Belarus to sell them. Real cheap, real peaceful, the wildlife barely even glows in the dark anymore.

It sounds like the person who wrote OGL 1.1 wrote this.

Sounds like they'll do a Paypal and wait it out and release an edited version which will be basically the exact same thing.

we wanted the ability to prevent the use of D&D content from being included in hateful and discriminatory products

[...]

In addition to language allowing us to address discriminatory and hateful conduct

Hasbro/Wizards is so desperate to find some wedge to break up their opposition, which right now constitutes the entirety of the gaming community, but it looks like no one is buying "we're just trying to find a way to stop the Nazis from making supplements, guys!" Twitter addicts bitch about various aspects of D&D, but even they know there aren't any adventures set on Planet Rahowa.

Want to play a tabletop game of wokeness where you can hate on whitey, obsess over gamergate, and see the green new deal a positive social change?
I do not, but thank you for giving me a very easy way to tell who to distance myself from very quickly. Namely, anyone who contributed to, purchased, or commented positively on that "game".

I have a feeling it's not. They also made another one...

It's so over the top and the "actors" (the creator's friends, I'm guessing) are such broad stereotypes I'm still not sure. If it's real, there's not one person here who wouldn't improve the gene pool by exiting from it.

Seriously, tell me these games look any less absurd than this. Certainly they look less entertaining.
