Tabletop Community Watch

Miniac on the other hand with a bunch of shitty clickbait thumbnails and titles gets 50k-100k views a video and as far as I recall it is his day job.
I stopped watching his videos a while back (looks to be about five years ago or so), so I watched a recent one after reading this post... He's an even bigger faggot now than he was however many years ago when I unsubscribed. Not surprising, but impressive.

Do painting tutorials other than slap chop do well? I know small wargaming channels get 2-3k bonus views for a warhammer video over their normal viewership. It's easy to court that audience.

Can someone explain to me how kill team rotation works? I might buy a kill team for competitive events but I've heard they're rotating them? If I buy a box from 2024 how many years will it last?
There was a leak long ago on 4chan, about the same time the "Female Custodes were Amazon's idea" thing came out, that said they really want to switch to a MTG model. Warhammer Fantasy was fucked because people would buy one army and that's it, it was the "historical wargame problem" to put it another way. There were Space Marine kits (tac squad) that outsold the entire Warhammer Fantasy range by themselves.

They don't want people buying 3000 points of Iron Hands, they want you buying 500 points of Iron Hands and 500 points of AdMech and 500 points of Dark AdMech and then 500 points of Necrons, that way you're tempted by 4 different new release schedules not 1.

If the MTG model is correct, then the rotation will be every 3-9 years I believe. I heard every edition they'll rotate things out, but I've also heard every 3. If it's every 3 editions (i.e., something released today will be good for this edition and the next two, guaranteed) that's 9-12 years I think, based on current cycles?

>Expect more than Stormcast Eternals to get a large range discontinuing. Post lockdown/Indomitus the people holding the purse strings, mainly those who jumped in from other parts of the tabletop pie
like TCG's, have been asking "what do you mean people buy product and then may go a decade without buying more?" and the new mandate is that a customer should be replacing their army every 3-4
years. Long enough to grow attached emotionally but not long enough to be unwilling to buy another.
>This means a few armies/subfactions are going away in the next two years
>For AoS: Dispossessed, any High Elf/Wood Elves outside resin and some Dark Elves will be retired. Others moved into other battletomes such as Daughters of Khaine. Its unconfirmed but don't expect
Fyreslayers to be around forever.

Imperium forces rather than a stand alone army with Custodes intended to fill their former niche
>Both major titles will see another attempt at Everchosen/Eye of Terror mini battletomes/codexes intended for narrative/smaller sized games. The First two are "Battletome: Blighted Crusade" and "Codex:
Imperial Agents" releasing this autumn.
>This is part of the "wotcification of gw" at the advice of shareholders and US consultants. Smaller faster games with more focus on ease of entry. The Combat Patrol and Speartips are intended to
function like magic the gathering "preconstructed commander decks". Expensive lifestyle products that a player can buy, put together and have balanced games against each other. The intent over time is
less players with 30,000 points of Dark Angels and more players with 2000 points in every army range.
>With the rise in alternate hobby products such as paints and tools the range of Citadel Paints is being reduced. If something has an option where a Contrast Paint can fill the role of both expect the
Base/Layer of said colour to go away. Primers are also being cut down to Grey Seer, Chaos Black, Mechanicus Standard Grey, Iron Warriors, Zandri Dust and Death Guard Green.
>TL:DR the covid boom is over and cost cuts are happening to avoid increases in outgoings.

Yes, finecast stuff was going to be dropped. That much was obvious. Harlequins aren't gone, and grey knights still have their own codex so that's just wrong.

Imperial agents was literally just shoving everything that was random bullshit into a faction to soup so they could sell another codex, they can't get away with that for titans with only 4 models(nor do they care). Doesn't have anything to do with smaller games or anything "narrative"

This doesn't even make sense, not to mention they did an entire revamped tool range(still overpriced and shit) in addition to having added a brush range.
Primers are also being cut down to Grey Seer, Chaos Black, Mechanicus Standard Grey, Iron Warriors, Zandri Dust and Death Guard Green.
Well that just makes sense. Those colors work as a primer for basically 99% of paint jobs out there except for the occasional person who wants to prime in pink or purple or whatever.
Also this was the article about the new kill team rotation
The player packet for the August Lone Star Open Kill Team tournament doesn't even mention the "classified" crap(although it hasn't been a year yet) https://events.frontlinegaming.org/EventItem?EVENTID=26 And LVO doesn't even have a Kill Team tournament so it really doesn't seem like GW's "rotation" for KT is amounting to much yet(but like I said previously, we still haven't hit the end of the first year).

You missed that bit about Underworlds ending production... it got a massive update that GW spent an entire month promoting the shit out of it on warcom last year because something happened when the lead designer for 40k got replaced and had nothing for q4 2024 for product releases, so that's also wrong. Plus they promoted the shit out of it again in their last preview stream.

"Chaos dwarfs aren't happening" Yeah about that...

Leaks being PR, no shit some of them are. That Dante leak that "accidentally" left the warehouse and was shipped "accidentally" to a painter who happened to be a good painter was obviously PR.

White Dwarf selling terribly is fucking obvious. It's a print magazine in 2025. The WD managing editor was finally laid off with some other staff. But the "big issue 500" thing was wrong. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMYWE6EomEn/
After an amazing six-and-a-half year, 75-issue run, my time as White Dwarf managing editor has come to an end. As part of a restructure, Games Workshop has eliminated the managing editor role and will go on making the magazine without one. My last issue will be number 516 in September.

I’m proud of what my team and I accomplished in my tenure, during which White Dwarf won an industry award for best magazine, steadily climbed the newsstand rankings, featured the two best-selling issues on record, and was Games Workshop’s best-selling product almost every month.

I wish the White Dwarf team the best, and while I’m sad it’s over, I can’t help but look forward to the next chapter in my career. I’m excited to be going freelance as I keep my eye out for the next great opportunity. I’ve already got some exciting contract and personal projects lined up, but I’ve got more room on my calendar, so if you’d like to work with me for writing, editing, content management, project management or product development work, get in touch!

Regarding the retail store closures. From their 2024-25 financial report
At the period end, we had 570 of our own retail stores in 24countries. We have 424 low cost stores: small sites, each one operated by only one store manager. We also have 146 multi staff stores, which, like our low cost stores, are constantly reviewed to ensure they remain profitable. If not, they will probably be closed.

At the period end, we had 518 of our own retailstores in 23 countries. Our stores contributed 23% of the year’s sales. We also have 118 multi-staff stores, which, like our single staff stores, are constantly reviewed to ensure theyremain profitable. If not, they will probably be converted to single staff stores.

So instead of closing retail stores, they opened another 10 multi-staff stores and 12 single staff stores. That's an increase, not a decrease from last year.. They always say they'll be downgrading stores or closing them if they aren't profitable, that's just sense. This is all publicly available, usually on page 4 or 5 of their financial reports https://investor.games-workshop.com/annual-reports-and-half-year-results

You also left out the comment about all resin to be phased out by 2025. Yet GW spent 2024 and 2025 doing new releases in resin for lower volume products. Hell, they haven't even eliminated finecast entirely yet.

TOW, they added an entirely new faction. I don't think they'd have made that investment if it were doing poorly.

Why even post that rumor shit from 4chan when so much of it was obviously bullshit or was so wrong that GW has done basically the opposite?

40k fans don't buy 3000 points of Iron hands. They buy 3k points of Iron hands, then Dark Angels, The Space Wolves then Blood Angels. They buy the same models to paint differently.

Reddit tranny jannies banned r/vengfulspirit for wrongthink. Im fucking done with reddit, I just dont know where we can actually base a community.

Like I said, once the tranny equivalent of the eye of sauron is on them it doesn't matter.
You aren't gatekeeping shit if you're just letting everyone in. And you're not stopping anyone if the people who actually run the site won't let you gatekeep when they can and will just delete your entire community at the drop of a hat.
Once they notice r/vengefulspirit isn't entirely in line with the jackboots running reddit, it'll be next even if they want to try and keep discussion off of reddit.
I told you this was going to happen, and there wasn't anything you could do about it.

Other than your own forum, which will have its own issues and of course need a host that will get brigaded if it gets popular enough... it's not going to work. You cannot publicly grow a community for this shit and keep the trannies out. You're forgetting the first thing about invading spaces to take them over or eliminate them. If you don't keep the space hidden they WILL find it and if they cannot take it over they will work to eliminate it. This isn't even 40k or tabletop gaming specific and it's been happening for ages, wasn't even trannies initially doing it.

Yeah, I think its safe to say its over for Horusgalaxy. Might keep the X community up, and I think some of the other mods want to keep the FB page, and I think the discord will stay up. Oh well, hope the trannies enjoy ruining warhammer until they move onto the next thing to destroy.

I told you how to keep them out. Your mods were too weak to carry out what needed to be done.
And where has this indecisive weakness lead you? Right back to the mop.

To be fair reddit banned us for "ban evasion". We actually did a great job keeping the horde out.
They still knew it was there, and they still attacked it. The X and FB groups might be fine because they know the admins there won't immediately bend to their will. But Discord? I wouldn't count on that considering it was what just a couple weeks ago the main 40k tabletop sim discord got brigaded and shut down because the admin was guilty of wrongthink?

If it's public, they will learn about it because they'll spread their tendrils looking for more shit. Could even be they're already aware of it. Once they decide they can't assimilate it by somehow taking over admin of it, they will use any vector they can to attack it even using sockpuppet accounts to post blatantly illegal shit and report it faster than the mods can clean it up(that's their main tactic on reddit, you think it won't work on discord with enough reports?). You need a gate to be able to gatekeep, and you need to make sure that control of it won't be handed to the people you're trying to keep out.

Trench Crusade devs were at Ropecon this year, and they actually had demos games unlike their appearance at Adepticon, according to the creator of this video.
I'm sure it means something else in Finnish, but Ropecon? lol

The "game" at the 10 minute mark is interesting I guess. Malediction, seems you buy the cards and then get a code to get the STLs to print the models and terrain. Seems a little weird to me to make a miniature game that requires having a resin printer. Seems like that's the next "big thing" for established companies. Steamforged Games is doing it for Warmachine, Paizo announced a subscription for STL files, I guess they finally decided to jump on the bandwagon that other small busineses have been doing for years now via patreon and mmf. Must be a fairly high margin thing, pay a couple artists to just crank out models and rake in the subscriber fees.

I posted a vid in the mtg community thread, there's also some dust ups about ultimate guard making some Harry Potter themed products.

Remember when taking games overly serious was a joke in yugioh abridged and not a fact of modern life? Sigh
CGE went full cuck and promised to donate 100% of profits to tranny charities.
r/boardgames are applauding them for 'doing the right thing'.

Look at this pizza faced chinless wonder of dubious gender. The inability of these hobgoblins to get the fuck over themselves regarding the Boy Wizard is long past the point it should be deemed a mental illness.

I hate how these joyless faggots have infested nearly every corner of gaming.

EDIT: By the by, I didn't stumble across this video. BoardGameGeek posted this in the "reviews" section on the game's page. Nice to see a good bit of heat in the comments, though they are but amateurs compared to even the dumber Kiwis.
