George Santos Mystery Megathread

Incoming Republican congressman George Santos of New York was already facing a litany of questions about his background, including his employment history, his education, his residence, and his religious background.

Now, another key aspect of his biography — Santos is the first non-incumbent out gay Republican ever elected to Congress — has also been complicated.

The Daily Beast reported on Thursday that Santos divorced a woman named Uadla Santos in 2019, just two weeks before launching his ill-fated 2020 congressional campaign against Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi. The outlet was also unable to obtain records of his marriage to his husband.

While it's possible that Santos is, in fact, gay, the marriage complicates public statements that Santos has made about his own sexuality.

"I'm a gay married man," Santos told USA Today in October of this year. "I am openly gay, have never had an issue with my sexual identity in the past decade, and I can tell you and assure you, I will always be an advocate for LGBTQ folks."

Santos never publicly disclosed his marriage to the woman.

The embattled congressman-elect has not yet addressed or refuted any of the facts that have been reported about him this week, simply saying in a statement on Monday that questions raised by the New York Times were "defamatory allegations."

George Santos claims that:

He lost 4 employees in the Pulse shooting
His grandparents were Ukrainian jews
His dad had Anglican roots
His mom was the first female executive at a major institution
His mom survived 9/11 in the south tower but died a few years later
Claim to have graduated from Baruch College with a finance and economics degree
Claims to have business masters from NYU
Says he worked for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup
Claims to own 13 properties
Formed an animal rescue organization that he claims is tax exempt
Said he's married to his pharmacist husband for over a decade

What seems to piss everyone off about this dude?

I've seen more articles on him than on Fauxahontas or anyone else.

Is it because he's gay and a Republican, meaning he's off the plantation?

or is he really a gay international man of mystery who perhaps holds the keys to Al Capone's vault where Amelia Airheart's cryogenically frozen body is stored?

If there's a successful gay republican it will damage the narrative so they're aiming for any little thread to constantly pull or bring up. They do this with any other comparatively unknown politician so they can dump dirt as hard as they can.

Ben Carson has a book claiming certain things about his childhood, very irrelevant things that, even if fake, can be taken as hyperbolic fiction to help a story. Because of who he is and what he believes, the book was heavily factchecked, with morons from CNN looking for his school classmates to debunk the story. They didn't care if this was true or not, they DID NOT WANT it to be true and even the doubt was enough for them to make people think Carson is a liar.

Same here. The guy lying or not is not important, what's important is that he's republican and all bad things should be true and they must push for it to be truth.

Soooo, he lies about as much as the average comedian or politician?

As the others have said. All politicians are liars, but the media only really cares when Republicans do it.

I'd also say, to be fair, it sounds like this one is a big, blatant, easily fact-checked liar, with ties to particularly salacious topics - sexuality, 9/11, fake and secret marriages. Absolutely no objection to him being put through the ringer, I only object to said ringer being unequally applied.

For all that we're retard faggots, the Farms, collectively, are a better journalist than 95% of modern journalists. Hell, we'd have a legitimate claim to be considered citizen journalists - if that wouldn't be insulting the equal opportunity hard work and dedication to evidence the most diligent posters here do, to sully them with that term.

It's because he defeated their identarian politics by identifying with as many groups as he could.
I'm surprised that it took someone this long to realize that you can get the bigot vote by pretending to a member of their groups.

If the guy turns out to be a good congressman and not a RINO, I'm willing to give him a pass on his backstory. I don't see the New York Times demanding Elizabeth Warren step down, so why should I care about this guy?

The thing with George is he has yet to provide receipts. I think that he believes he can just sneak into congress and go unnoticed. Which......lol.
Works for the Democrats... oh wait, yeah, I see the big flaw in his plan right there. Hmm...
