Down the Rabbit Hole / Fredrik Knudsen

It's all "muh mental health" bullshit that every youtuber says when he can't admit to having burnout and wasting the time doing other shit since that Patreon and super chat money keeps him afloat anyways. It's amazing someone could do a Spoony video and then mimic him unironically.

The whole plagiarism angle is also weird. Every thing that is said in his videos is obviously something someone else said or done, so no one is thinking he takes someone else's investigative work. If it's him copying someone else's timeline of events then the OP should just be credited instead of starting to look for other sources for the exact same thing that is freely accessed information anyways.

Getting proud over a bloated product is also a warning sign. Length is not a sign of quality, and other cows like MauLer also has that bizarre idea that makes his videos have zero value instead of background noise.

Anyways since this is the "first draft", I'd expect the video to be released at the very least in half a year after he'll find other reasons go burn down other parts and remake them.

It's not really about how people "want" a 5 hour Eve Online video, it's more about Fredrik wanting to make a 5 hour Eve Online video.
I was never interested in Gary Kasparov or the Austrian Wine Poisoning until listening to Fred's video on them. The drama and player stories of EVE have been something I've been wanting to explore for a while and as crazy as it sounds a 5 hour documentary on it seems like the most approachable entry point for it.

Here is the thing though, if you are interested in those things you'd rather have multiple small videos with specific history/controversy than a mega video that is only traversable with timestamps and might have uninteresting parts spread between the more interesting bits.

Going from historical happenings and events to autistic esoteric vydia shit is a huge downgrade. His internet culture videos, while fun, already kinda stick out like sore thumbs compared to the rest of his content, but at least they are about stuff everyone can enjoy (lolcows), in the freakshow "Come watch this trashfire!" sense even if they didn't know about them beforehand.

Who is intrested in a 5 hour long documentary about a spreadsheet simulator other than the people already playing it?

His Wings of Retardadation video is long as a motherfucker but took him only a few months to complete. Why does this gay ass shit need 10 years to make?

He's fucking lazy, that's why. This happens with every "content" creator nowadays. They get addicted to stream on twitch and forget to actually put some work.

Here's a question for you: do you do the same sort of work he does (choosing a topic, doing the legwork with a team of others, and creating a video on the subject - including scriptwriting, music scoring, and recording take after take of sessions until it meets your incredibly high standards)?

If the answer is no, fuck off.

If the answer is yes, a follow-up question: do you know what's exactly going on inside the guy's head, especially considering he's been doing this sort of thing for a number of years now, and may be going through personal issues or a midlife crisis that has silently built up without being acknowledged before it came to a head?

If the answer is no, kindly fuck off.

There are plenty of YouTubers like Wendigoon who give a consistent output of interesting stories (including ones that are far harder to research due to big tech censorship). There are also just as many YouTubers like MandaloreGaming that give far more edit intensive material every few months. You'd need to be optimistic as shit to believe Fredric is really doing his best rather than just whoring himself on Patreon and Twitch like a good chunk of this website lolcows. It's just whiteknighting.

For the Wings video, he had that Metokur episode, plus the video Jim did, where they summed up his highlights, plus there's a ton of places that have documented the shit show that is Wings of Redemption. Plus, Wings had only been active for a decade at that point and most of the big moments were easy to find.

Eve on the other hand has been going on since 2003 and as I understand it, there are a ton of stories. From what I've been told, there are some epic battles and moments in the game, but they're far between a ton of meandering resource gathering and economic shit. But some of that shit is important to the story. And twenty years is a lot of content to sift through in order to find the truth.

I'll admit, the time this is taking is annoying, I agree with that, but considering how much work Fred has put into his other videos, I wouldn't call the dude lazy.

I love Wendi, but you cannot say in earnest that he goes as autistically indepth on such niche topics as Fred. Also, the dude (until very recently) just sits in front of his camera and talks, no editing/overlays/animations accompanying his speaking.

Not calling either lazy, but Wendigoon is not even in the same ballpark of effort as Down The Rabbit Hole.

I disagree, contrast something like Killing of Don Henry and Kevin Ives with Deep Blue. The latter is very easy to get many (relatively objective) accounts, while the former is as censored online as it can be, and you'd need to resort to books that might be written by schizos.

Knudsen started making videos on internet crazy people and to me those are his best videos. His May Island video was no do of disappointing to me because he took half a year to make a video that easily could have been a 15 minute Mark Felton video. When he started making videos there weren’t as many people making lolcow videos and I still think he’s videos are of far higher quality than other channels. I have no knowledge of EVE online but I’m actually interested in this new video. The only time I ever hear about it is on /v/ when people talk about the crazy politics of the game. Since I know nothing about the game and there aren’t really any in depth video about I’m actually pretty excited for this new one.

All I know about EVE is that there have been some massive autism wars and meltdowns over their pretend ship battles.

I am also very excited.

Personally I'd like him to return to lolcows and do a Dobson video, but from what I've seen, he seems to be done with those. Which is a shame, because there are plenty of idiots for him to dive into.

Another vote for watching him talk about crazy people. The FF home video was a good time for example. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy his other videos, the Deep Blue one was pretty interesting and I enjoyed is Rat utopia project is well (though that one hit hard between rats grooming too hard and trannies being a thing...). But the Battle of May Island I never bothered to watch it, it's an hour and a topic that sounds pretty dry, but to be honest I just don't know about it.
