So let me get this straight.

The border wall for US and Mexico border is "too expensive" but we can dump over 100 billion into the Ukraine/Russia conflict?

Put it this way, lets say you see Russia as a security threat would you rather fight them before this war or after they've already gone through the Ukrainian meat grinder? This is the reason the Baltics have gone so hard on support for Ukraine.

When it comes to public spending the government can be surprisingly tight, you have to sweeten the deal for congressmen something the MIC is very good at. Building bombs, planes, tanks, etc all mean high paying jobs and every state gets a piece of the pie. Add some money under the table and you've got your 800bn dollar defense budget. Just be tankful that a good portion of money actually buys the shit it's supposed to.

The issue of who is or isn't a Nazi doesn't really matter, I mean a good portion of NATO's top brass back in the 50's where Nazis. Like real goose stepping, knew Hitter on a fist name basis Nazis. If it makes you feel better you can swap "security threat" with "competing nation" but the point still stands either way. If you see your relationship as adversarial then why wouldn't you invest in this war? It'd be nice if we didn't have this relationship with Russia (or Iran, China, North Korea, etc) but if we're wishing for things that'll never happen I'll have a billion dollars please.
