Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Yeah, Final Space was one of those where everyone in the cartoon community and even people on tv were bragging about how amazing the show was, only for it slowly died because the rest of the world didn't give a shit about it.

Hell, I stopped watching it because of how awful the comedy was in the show. The main lead Gray (voiced by the creator of the show) especially pisses me off with how he would always scream to the top of his voice while never shutting the fuck up, even with the explanation that he was stuck alone in a space for years didn't make endure me to his character. I hated every second of Gary's antics.
It didn't help that he had this long-running joke about wanting cookies that got so old quickly.

What does makes the death of Final Space a bit funny is how desperate people online tried to make others watch the show because even they knew barely anyone cared to watch it.

I never cared about it: ugly calarts crap, LGTB+ space bullshit...
Well, at least the shit was sunked. Good riddance, i say.

Speaking of Christmas films, this is a reminder to watch Klaus again this Christmas if you want an experience of what Early 2000s Disney films were like if it was 2019.
This quickly became an annual watch in my house. Netflix are fucking insane for not picking up Sergio's next film and forcing him to shop around for a distributor.

I'd also like to mention the creator of that show was in an Annoying Orange video once.

"Everybody is shouting" is one of my most hated comedy trends in the last decade. In general the humour felt like aliens aping jokes. The emotional parts are likewise basic as shit "missing dad/no friends" bullshit that's common to every millennial artist. The whole show is like what you'd get if you put every modern western animation script into an AI.

If you want Western animation sci-fi, I hear Star Trek Lower Decks is surprisingly good for looking like a Rick n' Morty pastiche. Granted, that's relative considering the rest of Star Trek is an absolute dumpster fire these days, but still.

Lower Decks is what you get when an IP falls within the hands of people that are either clueless of the meaning and message of the original material or simply hate the original material. I cannot think of anyone that is a Trekkie that would watch this garbage. Even as a "parody" the quality of the writing and the jokes are weak and uninspired. The animation, the art style and the characters are unlikable. I tried to watch it and I tapped out after the third episode.

But by some sort of a miracle there exist an animated Star Trek show that it is actually enjoyable to watch and whose premise does feel like the Trek of old with episodes that deal with similar themes as well as callbacks that play homage to even the original series. Plus there is an overarching story that carries through the entire series that deals with the consequences of the Prime Directive.

Nickleodeon's Star Trek: Prodigy is perhaps the only silver lining among all the IP murdering CBS has done over the past years to the Star Trek franchise and Roddenberry's vision of a better tomorrow.

IIRC one of the main writers behind the show is the guy who ran the TNG S8 twitter account, who is a legitimate Trek fan but isn't the sort of guy you let make a TV show. There's a vast difference between an amusing 140 character tweet that says "Worf tries a cheeseburger and decides it's dishonorable. Wesley streams on subspace Twitch." and thirty minutes of comedy, not to mention in a franchise that's always taken itself pretty seriously.

So in an interesting turn of events, the upcoming cartoon of Phoebe and her Unicorn has been cancelled.

Nothing about this is shocking. Shit is falling apart and sinking before our eyes in every corner of media. Another bowl of fantasy slop reeking of woke shit isn't going to be the next spongebob for nickelodeon and the creator was foolish to think so. Even more foolish to think it's transphobia (which leads to me believe her redlight is due to other factors "she's" not telling us) and not corpos being retards who want to skip to the "PROFIT" part of the plan.

>I am becoming an old hand at Hollywood disappointment.
Then fuck hollowood and do it yourself if you want your vision to be a reality so bad. Leave them behind, ignore their cries for help (ie new and exciting stories with originality) and never look back.

I had a measure of sympathy but then she invoked Owl House as some sort of successful show and I creased up. While in her list of girl led shows failed to mention things like Amphibia, Tangled and more.

Speaking of Owl House started back up right? Should watch it just so I gave it a fair chance to the end. Some of the cast are quite interesting, shame none of them are the main ones.

All I know is the only thing I've seen from it was a completely degenerate and pointless gay orgy thrown in just to be edgy. No thanks.

I'll take shit that never happened for $500, Alex. They probably just cancelled it without giving a reason and the author is lying through her(?) teeth to make an internet backlash.
Hid..never ever give a Troon the inch of calling it a she of its clearly a he or vice versa.

Honestly as someone who's only been vaugley aware of star trek lower decks made me think the franchise really should have died with the train wreck that was nemisis..possibly after the jj abbrams trilogy ended. But if what you're saying about the nick animated star trek is true..I might check it out. (The similar style to camp cretaceous didn't endear me and the less said about how THAT show went down hill the better.)

I cam pull one example of a show that proves Simpson wrong on the whole girl's shows don't sell bs argument. The new show hamster and gretel. I've only seen the first episode but so far it's probably the best comedic Disney show since milo Murphys law. (Which I think it shares a creator or at least art design team with) Its a show staring a female lead and so far it's gotten my attention. (Though as I said before Disney you have enough shows staring girl leads one with a boy lead would be nice...even of he's a tar baby I'll take something)
