Even with just being a Minister, you really have to know your shit. Like, reading the Bible once isn't going to cut it, you have to know it well enough to talk about it and give interpretations that support the Doctrine, know the Catechism basically inside out, recall Church teachings off the top of your head, that kinda thing.
Though, to indulge in some hypothetical, lets say he did manage to make it through the schooling and training. I really doubt he'd be able to just find a regular Church, he'd be more successful finding a Catholic Ministry at some liberal school or university. He'd probably get into trouble with the local Priests and Deacons for basically telling the students that the Church teachings don't matter or talking shit about some totes transmisogynistic Cleric, though.

He's not going to be taking any vows of chastity, so the Catholic route is out for Fire.

I've known nuns from both teaching and nursing orders. Even if Fire somehow managed to be accepted as a novice, he'd never survive the years which come after that and before his final vows. He might be attracted to the whole "brides of Christ" idea and the "theatre" of being a nun, but the only order he's going to be joining is the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Uniting Church does have ministries which require less study and they do have openly gay clergy. They have been ordaining women for a very long time now. Gay people in "loving relationships" which are not legally recognised can become ministers within the Uniting Church but - and it's a huge but - decisions are made at local level so you can only go this route if you can find a local, non-traditional synod/presbytery which is willing to accept you. Not all are gay friendly, and the more conservative elements within the Uniting Church are pushing hard for a return to more conservative values - so hard that it's likely the Church will split over the issue and an offshoot will form.

I have a lesbian acquaintance who has been a Pastoral Minister for the Uniting Church for over 20 years. Even though pastoral ministries are regarded as lay ministries, they are paid and someone as unstable and judgemental as Fire wouldn't make the cut.

But he's still completely at the mercy of the locals: He'd probably have to serve as assistant pastor or something similar at first, and even if he didn't screw that up the congregation or synod could kick him out.
