A man has been taken into custody near the Pocono Mountains in connection with the homicide of four University of Idaho students.

Bryan Kohberger, 28, is the person of interest in custody in Monroe County, Pa., sources confirm to NBC10's Deanna Durante and Brian Sheehan.

Further circumstances regarding the nature of the arrest and the suspect's capture are not yet known. Kohberger appeared in front of a Monroe County judge around 8:30 a.m. Friday, sources tell NBC10.

The Nov. 13 killings of the four students -- Madison Mogan, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin -- left their community of Moscow, Idaho in shock and garnered attention nationwide.

Police say the four were stabbed to death in an off-campus house rented by the three female students in the middle of the night, some with wounds that suggest they fought back against their attacker. The investigation to this point has largely come up empty. Two roommates on the first floor who police say slept through the attack have already been ruled out as suspects.

A press conference is scheduled in Moscow, Idaho at 4 p.m. ET.

I just wasted a bunch of time looking at that account. All the posts are very definitive statements about who the targets were, how the killer moved through the house, where the car parked etc that he ends by saying IMO or speculation. I definitely think it was him.

"hey guys lets jerk off to our headcannon ramblings of what a brutal murderer is doing!"

God damn true crime people are seriously fucked in the head.

This is your brain on veganism and drugs.
He was/is extreme. Pots and pans had to be thrown out if they were ever used to cook meat. One other thing. Kid that went to HS with him said in Jr year he was a bit overweight but a nice guy, He was bullied. He came back as a Senior, on drugs, thin as a rail, boxer, who started bullying others and wanting to fight everyone...That's neither here nor there. He didn't look fat in HS but he looked like death walking in some of those photos after HS. Anyhoo, here is the food article.

Oh. He is on suicide watch

Yeah, it sounds more like extreme orthorexia and OCD than just being vegan. There's been some speculation (who the fuck knows) that he had made contact with Maddie and Xana via the restaurant they worked at, since it's one of the top hits that comes up if you search for vegan restaurants in the area -- it's a Greek spot and has veg options.

I think people assume Kaylee was the target because she was the hottest one. But according to the reddit that may be potentially the killer's, Ethan and Xana were the targets.
Maddie and Xana were the only victims who were actually living in the house at the time. Ethan lived in his frat house and was staying over with his girlfriend Xana, and Kaylee had graduated and was in town for one last hurrah before moving to Texas. She seems to have been staying in Maddie's room.

Looks like the cops identified him via DNA submitted to some genealogy company. Doesn't surprise me a bit and is likely one of the reasons those companies exist in the first place

This guy was a serial killer in the making (if he isn’t one already), he was smart but obviously not smart enough if he left DNA at the crime scene, I guess he must’ve cut himself while stabbing the victims.
It's almost a given that you're going to cut yourself when you stab a person to death and this guy spree murdered four so there's a zero% chance he didn't leave some blood behind.

That and to baptize your dead ancestors into Mormon heaven.

It is where the real money is, the data, not the service.

They provide an illusion of convenience, when you could do all this in a lab, albeit for a bit more, but with complete confidentiality.

Don't give your fingerprints or your DNA to private companies not bound to confidentiality similarly to actual doctors. The upside is never worth it.

It's pretty much pointless now. They can narrow it down from as far as 4th cousins. Probably everyone has at least one person whom has either been arrested or done a 23 and me in that length of lineage.

Could be true for America. I have not looked into it, but I don't think it was ever popular in the EU. Upsides are minimal and it's just a fucking hassle. Nobody really cares here, we don't get shit if we are a quarter black or Indian.
