well he said it was for school. but with the imaginary girlfriend scenario and him faking his age it’s not a stretch to assume he isnt in school and wasn’t to begin with.

also nick seemed doubtful of flam’s school story, and considering they were somewhat friendly at some point nick would have probably heard at least a few school related comments/stories from flam leaving him no reason to be skeptical. so regardless of what the reason is for the hiatus, it likely had nothing to do with school.
