Luna looks dead. I know in a way she is... but she looks so much worse than post shunt surgery. I don't even know how to put it. Even a year ago, she looked like maybe there was something left of her brain.. Now she just looks like a severely misshapen doll and is frightening to look at. Could this really be the end? At the same time, it's sad to me that if she does die before baby #3 is born, Robyn will have a brand-new toy to replace her with. I just hope it's a boy so she can't say baby is a reincarnation of Luna or some crazy shit.

While I do think it's best for Luna to pass and be released from her suffering as soon as possible, I almost hope it's after the new baby comes - not before. If she passes before, I can picture Robyn claiming that the new baby is Luna reincarnated, or somehow project Luna's spirit onto the baby. If Luna passes after, it would be harder to claim that. She's still going to claim she's communicating with Luna's spirit, but at least it won't be via the new child.

I seriously doubt this. Taking care of a brain dead spud is a lot of work, for one thing, there’s no way Luna still has enough of a gag reflex to clear her passageways. There’s likely a suction cart out of frame of all recent photos.

And because Luna can’t respond to stimuli she has to be monitored very closely. Babies will cry when they need to be changed. Sitting in a soiled diaper for hours can cause skin breakage. G tubes get infected etc etc.

If Luna was regularly left alone in a corner for hours at a time she’d be dead. It would be better.

Imagine thinking braindead spuds are always or usually treated with kindness. Nursing homes? Full of people who get changed twice a day and miss most of their meals. They get lucky and their aspiration pneumonia doesn't kill them. G-tube dressings don't get changed until the gauze and skin and tube and scab fuse together.

If Luna gets cleaned up twice a day and propped up for photos just as much, and is given her tube feed, that alone is enough gas in the tank to "live" another decade. People have survived worse with less care.

Those deep monstrous decubes don't happen on little guys and they're not aesthetic. Even Robyn will give Luna a couple of flips a day for that.

You probably have to just to keep Atlas calm and developing. There is nothing wrong with "a smiley facade" in the face of adversity for your child. If her treatment of Luna was purely performative for Atlas and mediated by her guilt towards Luna, and she explained all that, I would have a hard time laughing at her.

Even so, it's pretty clear she's not doing a good job teaching the poor kid how to interact with an extremely disabled sibling.

I'm a grown man and it can be hard to know how to interact with and love disabled people. Putting your children in danger is unacceptable, and she continues to do so again and again. Being awkward shouldn't be a punishable crime. Not knowing how to best love and enjoy Luna while she's with her is okay; they just need help and support. However, no need to mince words: She destroyed Luna and everything she does should be for Atlas' well-being and Luna's comfort.

Robyn believes she loves Atlas and Luna. Toddlers don't want to snuggle all the time and hook up to your side nipple. They like to do stuff and will doubly love the person who does stuff with them/shows them how to do stuff. Ever teach a kid Atlas' age how to use a remote? You will never again know peace, but they will think you're the coolest and smartest person.
