I would say that most people here didn't start out hating trans people. Same as many people here believing in the idea that there were 'good' trans people who honestly wanted to live as the opposite sex, know they can't change their biology, but doing so alleviates their dysphoria.
I do. I used to try to just hate what they did, or what they represented. "Hate the sinner, not the sin", like my old mum used to say. The problem is, they so hollow out everything unique and special about one another and themselves, until there's nothing left but the endless, insatiable hunger to enforce behaviour and demand compliance, that hating what they do and hating who they are becomes a distinction without difference. They have taken so many good people and turned them into mindless slaves, and they've taken so much that is good about the world and turned it into filthy, perverted, oversexualised nonsense. It sucks, because it leaves me open to reflexively hating people by association.
Late, but I think social awkwardness is also a factor. Autism and a lack of social skills results in someone who has immense difficulty with conventional romantic relationships. They can’t form a deep, monogamous bond and instead try to fill the void with many shallow relationships. This is a really fascinating conversation. At no time does anyone consider that maybe the Kiwi Farms is not a super successful cult of any kind and maybe does not convert "young mascs" who feel lost because the rest of society does not offer a place for them. Note that Elliot emphasizes the sadness that people he suspects are trans will have to be "deprogrammed" indicating that the problem is not actually that a public internet forum is apparently a severe cult roping in tons of people it then threatens to destroy the lives of if members stop posting but some trans people are being misled into thinking trans people are nuts in a cult.
